Get well soon Tish. I like that Skoda has evolved this car in a positive way. I like that it retains the physical knobs and buttons for the climate control as well. As for the rear it just makes sense to have that extra storage in the middle footwell where most middle passengers would place the feet either side anyway. I have to say that I love the manual handbrake remains even though I've got used to the electronic one on my car. Many thanks for sharing.
You've earned another subscriber. I really love your reviews, I used to like Carwow before they just got a bit too big for their boots. If you stay like this when reviewing cars then you will go far.
I love how it looks, especially the gray and that dim blue version, I admit I don't know much about cars but in couple of months I'll start making my driving license and I'll probably go for this car or Honda Civic as my first.
Yes and no. Some of the aircon/climate controls are in the little console in front of the gearchange, but fan speed and control of distribution is still via the screen..... It's a pain to adjust on the move. I like my Kamiq a lot though. It's a very practical car, with more boot space - with the rear seats in place - than my previous Golf Mk7... And despite my Kamiq only being the 1.0 litre 110 bhp version, it still cruises quietly and very capably on the motorway....
@@Brian-om2hhnope, not anymore it seems, when you look at the video where this hvac is featured. Fan speed control is back with dedicated physical buttons.
Really nice review, I was actually looking at one of these or the equivalent T-Roc RLine with the 1.5 engine to replace our aging Mazda CX 5 which we are passing on to our nephew. I was shocked at the list price of 36,000€ with only 10% discount for cash. Looks like we will buy a new CX5 advantage for 32,000€ from our current dealer instead😅
Tish, Great presentation, as always. But, I need to address the problem of reviewing a left hand drive car. Things that are different from right hand drive cars. The glove box is in most cars different in size, by some considerable margin, in favour of our European neighbours because the fuse box is not switched from one side to the other. I cannot say which makers of different models converts from left to right, but, in the recent past, they stopped the practice and right hand drive cars are served with tiny gloveboxes.
My mother in law and husband had a really nasty crash in their 72 plate Kamiq a few weeks ago. They came off the road, climbed a stone wall, hit the tree behind and ended on its side. Both suffered some serious injuries and NOT ONE of the airbags deployed.
I'm choosing between this model and Renault Captur 2023 model. Those two are my favorites in this class. But still waiting for Kamiq 2024 to get in my local Skoda store in second half of March so I can try it. For now I prefer Renault Captur, as I own one from 2019 and I'm quite satisfied with it, and was test driving the 2023 version and I'm even more satisfied with that model. Also new Ford Puma and Toyota Yaris Cross were in the consideration. But to be honest my first choice will probably be Renault Austral if I could get those 7-8k € extra in the next few months.
I test drove one of these along with the xceed (after your review)and yes it's a good car, but I ended up with the Xceed GT line S. Just felt the better car, more power, spec and general driving feels certainly spec wise

The front grill is nice, the headlights should have been combine with the day time running lights, separately it looks like a lot is missing in front. Great seats and dashboard, love 💕 the screen on the dashboard. The center console should have been in the center of the two seats instead of so far in the back and an automatic parking brake would have been better which would free up space for the center console armrest to be higher up front. All wheel drive is standard on cars and SUVS and it should have been standard here,Skoda is lagging behind and needs to catch up. Not worth an increase in price, I wouldn't get it. Always love 💕😘 the review Tish.

Another underwater review! 😅 Please Tish, come to Barcelona for a month to do your tests! 🙏 We have plenty of Seat and Cupra models to check out! 😜 By the way, for me Skoda currently has the products with the best “quality/price” ratio of the entire VAG group and this Kamiq is a good example. 👍
Your dedication is always appreciated by this impartial Pilsen-based VW Group shareholder. The weather doesn't look great and we just read that there are 5,000 drug addicts on the Frankfurt train station and streets full of Happy Ramadan lights, nice. ;-) On a happier front, Kamiq is likely to remain underestimated in broader Europe but a new smallest Škoda India SUV may change it next year. The competing names sound like a parody. Kwiq, Kymaq, Kylaq, Kariq, and Kyroq. All of them sound like some rather common Czech words but those also have different meanings in Hindi. It is good they ask about the names because... only after they released the Indian Octavia as Laura, they found the deeply controversial meaning of Laura in India.
I just finished the video now. The design update seems a positive thing, it is more clear inside. I still think that the interior cannot compare to the various cognac colored models of Škoda. And I am puzzled why the full Smart Dials triplet isn't there. If I were deciding, I would place it not just in every new Škoda but in every new VW Group car of Škoda-like categories. Otherwise the generic shape of Kamiq is still somewhat boring but in that case, I admit that I might prefer it. Did you ever drive or see Škoda Yeti? It was the first Škoda sub-SUV with a very special quirky design, a true darling of Topgear etc. It has true cult fans even after it was discontinued but yes, I do think that the more generic Kamiq-like design could be prettier, after all.
As the former owner of the pre-facelift Kamiq, I can appreciate the improvements like the Matrix LED headlights and kick to open tailgate - previously powered but minus the 'virtual pedal' feature. However, the instrument cluster is identical to the previous model. The only change I can see to the infotainment setup is the change from text to icons for the touch buttons on either side of the display. The software looks identical - not necessarily a bad thing. One thing I'd love to see Skoda add back in, is the removable torch. It was deleted from the Kamiq in 2021 and never returned. Same thing with the bag hooks that mount on the top tether/child seat points. I also think that the new cup holder behind the centre console like the Fabia is good. In Australia, we don't get the fold down armrest to accomodate a third top teacher point - Australian Design Rules state a car must have a third top tether point to be classed as a five seater - we also can't have child seats in the front. So no cup holders in the rear otherwise.
