    Thank you so much for your excellent instructions and taking the time to share it with us. I have made 6 of these in the square shape. I am saving them for birthdays coming up. Beautiful great gifts! Other instructor wanted me to buy something to make these. I did not want to do that. Its people like you that make the world a better place to live by your generosity.

    Thank you for this easier version of the Folded Star Hot Pad. I watched a few versions, and this is the best. To those who say they cannot hear it, turn up your volume; use earphones!

      I was also put off by having to buy the pattern all the way from America and then having to keep buying them: at least one company promotion tutorial was sewing directly onto the pattern... (Yeah, makes it easier but also makes it stupid.) At least another promotional video they tell to copy the original - but I'm still not going to buy the postal fee for something that costs more than buying a pretty potholder from a shop.

      I would say “don’t knock the pattern.” Someone else just made a better mousetrap, and, sewing being their ‘career/job’ wants to be paid for their better idea. It may be more helpful for some people who have never made it before. To each his own!

    Can you leave the pattern on longer

    • @TheMasquerade
      @TheMasquerade  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't intend on taking it down at all. If you are talking about changing the video so that the measurements stay on the screen longer; that can't be done now that it is already uploaded. Maybe you can pause the video to write it down? Hope that helps!

  • @katereid5274
    @katereid5274 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would like to do this a bit bigger, maybe for a cushion. Any thoughts.

    • @TheMasquerade
      @TheMasquerade  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe try doubling or tripling all the sizes? I haven't had the time to test it - but it might work! - or if you just want to keep adding to the original block until its the size you need, start with the base foundation square the size of the cushion, then keep making the folded square triangles a 1/2" bigger than the last. So include a 5"square, then a 5 1/2" square, then 6", then 6 1/2" and so on till you have as many as needed.

      Yes... you can make it bigger, using this technique, but the larger it gets, the larger the ratio of each addition piece to the pieces before it. Here's a table topper I used with this pattern/technique: sarahlynnsmiteredcorner.blogspot.com/2015/03/biscornu-pincushion-needlekeep.html

    thank you

    • @TheMasquerade
      @TheMasquerade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The pattern is very versatile. I did change the last 2 pot holders by bringing in the triangles on the diagonal lines, closer to the center when lining up the second set of triangles. You can play with the design and skip marking the registration points, to lay your triangles as far in it out as you want. Have fun with this!

      Hola Celia! Aquí están las medidas convertidas de pulgadas a métricas:
      Corta las piezas:
      8" = 203mm (20.32cm) Para el bloque de fundacion
      3" = 76mm (7.63cm) color 1
      3 1/2" = 89mm (8.89cm) color 2
      4" = 101mm (10.16cm) color 3
      4 1/2" = 114mm (11.43cm) color 4
      32" = 813mm (81.28cm) Para la encuadernacion
      Marcas en el bloque de fundacion:
      1 1/2" = 38mm (3.81cm) Desde el centro
      3/4" = 19mm (1.90cm) de nuevo, de nuevo, de nuevo!
      Espero que esto ayude!

      LOL - It goes to show that even when it's done sloppily, it's still a cool project! So a beginner or child could have an OK outcome and be happy with it. Sometimes I like to "let it go" and not get caught up in perfection. It's good for my soul! LOL
