The old man told me you have to trick the trailer, always left to right, never straight otherwise it’s to easy to lose the dolly. Great watching you guys back trailers aye, stock drivers all the way!
Niiice work bro. We all started somewhere. I used to do civil t&t so I’d practice in the yard, backing into all the bins with trailer then jackknife to get truck in. Always volunteer to work weekends so you can practice while no one is around lol

Hi Truckersteve. Your videos take me back to 1970's when I started driving stock trucks out of Dargaville North Auckland. We had totally different gear back than, but some of the roads dont seem to have changed, especially the back country ones. We also didn't have the power or comfort of todays gear. Try 1418 Benz 2226 was a big truck, 350hp 140 Scania was dream truck early coolpower Macks, repowered Comers with 6v71 and later 6v92's went better but didn't stop well, I could go on. But you are carrying more than we ever did.A triple deck unit for sheep was a big back than. Never thought double deck cattle would be the go til I came home for a visit from Aussie. We never had sliding drawbars either and jacknifed wherever we could. The Northland area was great area to learn to drive and it stood me in good stead here in Aussie. Finished driving now finally retired, did my last 200,000ks in 530DAF,what an armchair. Keep the videos coming. More remenencing later. Chur Chur bro.
Well done... practice is the key. .i. just practise, practise. Watching the front end of the trailer and moving the dolly to suit. You are good at what you do.
SKILLS. Your experience definitely shows. As I have mentioned before. I live in my caravan full time and travel every 7-10 days. Get to see a lot of people reversing caravans. You reversed that far more easily than 90% of caravan owners ...... me included. I have trouble when I have to reverse the caravan through 90 degrees. Heaven help me if I had to do your job.
Keep passing your knowledge down to the up and comers in the industry bro, good tips and tricks there for some new drivers. Some cant even back their car at the shops without reverse beepers and cameras nowadays🤣. See people all the time reverse park their cars and they dont look at their mirrors once haha, they looking down at their radio.
Bro its crazy aye, i cringe when people can’t use mirrors like bruh it ain’t that hard come on 🤣🤣 wonder how many crashes have happened cause people just be staring at their reverse camera 🤣🤯
Looks like you had nice opportunity at those yards to jack knife the truck in with trailer still on. Maybe for your next vid keep on trucking bro nice job.
Yeah for sure, pretty easy to do there although i dont do it with this unit, my hoses seam abit short so dont want to wreck anything to be honest haha i’ve got away without doing it for 2 years 🤣👍
@@Truckersteve14 Roger that 👍. Yea I see you are abit of a creamcarter 🤣🤣🤣 I only used to do it with empty or very little on trailer. Puts to much stress on everything other wise 🤠
Great video Steve, and excellent advice on the backing a truck & trailer, im in NZ for 6 months and driving a truck and trailer carting milk and bales, im used to driving semis in ireland so i just need to practice more and more.... its hard to believe how nice the trailer follows with an 8x4 truck and 5 axle trailer, we should have this setup in Europe.
@@virtueofhate1778 not a 8 wheel truck and longer 5 axle trailer with sliding drawbar. A 3 axle rigid and 2 or 3 axle trailer, theres a big difference.
@@jodyoneill134 No, in here a 25,25m long truck (3-5 axels) and trailer (4-6 axels) combination has been the standard truck for decades. Most common being 3+5 axels (60tons) combination and 4+5 for heavy (76tons) timber trucks.

The shorter the draw bar the faster the reaction the longer the draw bar the slower the reaction lil movements and just follow the dolly
