Watched this over here in New Zealand just a few days ago - think it may have been over our long Kings Birthday weekend. There was just my wife and I sitting on our couch in the lounge watching TV in the evening. Now The Graham Norton Show is a wee bit hit and miss imho - it depends on the guests and the dynamics - sometimes the show rocks, sometimes it rolls, and sometimes we simply just have to change channels. So the show's guests on the night [Series 30 Episode 7] included none other than The Boss himself; Bruce Springsteen who promoted his 21st studio album Only the Strong Survive, rising star Anya Taylor-Joy of The Northman and The Queen's Gambit fame, Anna Maxwell Martin, best known for her roles in Line of Duty and Motherland, who chatted with Graham about her part in the new ITVX drama A Spy Among Friends, and last of all but not by least British stand-up comedian and host Mo Gilligan. We thought it was an excellent show after all guests had chatted to Graham. There was no pretentiousness at all during the show, no frills, and many good laughs were enjoyed by all. So then the show turned to the music part near the conclusion - and here also is where it can get REALLY hit and miss - we have changed channels quite a few times during this section of the show. So up came Florence + The Machine. Now I said to my wife 'this should be quite good', as I like her music, always have had...and even with Florence, sometimes there's the odd song that doesn't quite cut the mustard for me, so I wondered what would be delivered...well what was delivered...was one of her greatest live moments in/on television for me. Wow did she COMMAND that stage. I don't believe I have seen anything quite like it ever before. Her vocal range is phenomenal. And she gave us the complete range, pitch to tone and volume - the complete package in 'Dream Girl Evil'. Her and the band of course blew me away. And her interview was as gracious as ever. She is the real deal make no error. And getting better and better with age. 💯 11/10 Florence + The Machine. 👏Would love to know what The Boss thought...
