    From Season 2, Episode 2 'Cobbler' - While Mike attempts to track down Pryce's stolen baseball cards, Jimmy must defend him when the police call him in for further questioning.
    Watch now!: play.google.com/store/tv/show...
    Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

      There is something simpler here. When you are in deep shit and you have to lie, create a story that is bad for you but not quite as bad as what actually happened. People assume that if you lie you would try to get out of the situation completely, if you admit to a minor offense or something embarrassing, they are more likely to believe you.

      Obviously, he asked for the note, and I told him I didn't had it because it was an urologist. I said that I got unsafe sex, and got some red spots (truth is I was just at my home playing Resident Evil 4 on my ps2). He asked if I got an STD, and I told him that it was a common infection, and he just laughed, advised me that I should always use condoms, and gave me the passing grade I needed.

      @Dino Sauro ...No. Just no. Shakespeare did not invent the concept of analogizing something to another thing. The two things the world is apparently akin to are not even remotely similar.

    • @fulldisclosureiamamonster2786
      @fulldisclosureiamamonster2786 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Dino Sauro ... Bruh.
      First of all, the original comment was a quote from the video, because they wanted to point out a line they liked and possibly cause discussion around it. They were obviously never intending to "steal" from Shakespeare. Second of all, you've missed the point of what I was trying to tell you entirely. The two analogies are not even similar. In what way is Shakespeare cynically comparing life to a play comparable to Jimmy saying the world is a diverse place? It makes it look as if you're saying this line "rips off" Shakespeare because both the line and the Shakespeare monologue use the words "the world" (in different contexts so just... why?) or because the line makes use of analogy... something that Shakespeare did not and could not have invented. I don't know how to put this more succinctly, it literally doesn't matter who "came up" with it first, the concept of saying something is like another thing to prove a point belongs to nobody. It's like trying to say by speaking English you're stealing from the British, or that by putting flashbacks in a story you're ripping off Citizen Kane. It makes zero practical sense.
      Third of all, _you're not even remotely correct._ Not only was Shakespeare _not_ the person to invent analogy, he wasn't even the first recorded person to make this exact comparison. Richard Edwards' play Damon and Pythias has the line "Pythagoras said this world was like a stage." Damon and Pythias was first produced in 1564, the year Shakespeare was believed to have been born. Unless Richard Edwards is a time traveller, he could not have stolen the analogy from Shakespeare. He wouldn't even have to; he didn't come up with the analogy either!
      You have chosen a very bizarre hill to die on, my friend. Not only are you on the wrong hill, the hill you wanted doesn't even exist. Perhaps you'll better understand if I use a phrase from the playwright you seem to like so much.
      "Pedantry gets you nothing other than scorn." - William Shakespeare, inventor of words and human language apparently.

    I've rewatched this scene probably more than any other in the BCS series. The way Jimmy strings them along offering barely any details, slowly building their curiosity while giving them nothing, but constantly reiterating the fact that his client is free of any wrongdoing. Then finally, when they are completely on the line and need to know what the "art" is, he drops the words "squat cobbler", which is nonsensical to anyone, but then doubles down and gaslights them making them think they're the ones who are crazy for not knowing what it means. It's such a fantastic scene.

      Are you saved? If you died tonight would you go to heaven or hell?
      The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.
      John 1:1,14 KJV
      In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD.
      [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH , and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
      John 1:10
      He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He doesn't just spill all the details in 1 go to get the conversation over with but instead feeds them tidbits of the "fetish" that his client has. Makes it seem much more believable since he's talking about a really weird and awkward detail about his client's personal life. That hesitance is understandable by the end of the story and the detectives get why Jimmy was struggling with telling them everything for the get-go. Brilliant writing.

    This is Emmy worthy acting by Odenkirk during this scene! When he looks away and gives a small head shake of personal disgust when he first reveals 'squat cobbling' and the other subtle nuances he uses as he explains the 'skills being employed are chef's kisses. 😂😂🤣

    Thanks to Jimmy's story, Pryce got out and he took another deal from Nacho for making the fake pills, disabling Hector and eventually leading to the downfall of the Cartel. God I love this show.

    Better Call Saul is so good that the audience will always curious about how Saul will do the trick. This scene is just one of many. Anyway, if i were the vigilance detective, maybe, i would believe the story too. The hesitation and slow release information were so well done that the policemen were satisfied for finally "get the secret"

    3:55 - One hilarious element of this scene for me is how the Police Officers are trying to maintain their "Poker Face" during the interrogation to mask their emotions, but their confusion and bewilderment undermines their efforts to do so. Jimmy really knew that the only way to trick these guys was to come up with a reasoning for Daniel's behaviour that was so absurd and disturbing that the cops would think that nobody could make it up. Well played.
