If you have the room, and plan to keep the red one long long term I'd keep it. So many parts could come in handy later that are quite expensive, all roof seals, radiator hoses (rare), coil, distributor, window regulators, window switch, motor parts, diff, drive line and the list goes on, it had an N1 ecu so could possibly have heavy duty clutch, bigger injectors (maybe) and check the turbo if it is standard.
thats what im thinking too
Making an exo car out of the rusty cap would be absolutely top tier content.
I agree but always VERY expensive lol once I’m on Adam LZ levels ima do that to a couple keis
I still think you should try to take out that dashboard.. worst that can happen is you break it..
Even if you don't put it back in the red capp right now you might have time to do it eventually.. even if you don't keep your kei cars, when you sell it the next owner might be very willing to switch it..
thats fair
U need to swap and rebuild the diff
caterham has a 660 cc that uses a cappo setup. Atleast in the uk if u find a dealer local in the us willing to ship in the kit. That is what i would recommend. Ur not crazy like me with a welder and would galdly weld up the rust or make up a whole new floor pan. The frame patching is the hardish part. Gotta find a good spot to add in and do the bends.
I would love to do a lifted cappuccino like how they do the Miatas
The dash swap still seems like a good idea.
too much work imo
Cant wait to see what you decide.
SAME
Interested to see what you'll end up choosing.
I still think Fully strip the blue Cappuccino.
I don't even know myself
W video 💯
How far does the rust go into the four corners of the car? If it’s just the floor plans which need replacing, this could become a safe and usable car again, but not if it’s then missing everything else…
I think its just the jacking points and mostly all the driver side
When buying the Cappuccinos.wouldnt be cheaper buying them from the UK as they were also sold from brand new but in UK spec which the only difference.was the Speedo.was MPH , we also have the Daihatsu Copen which has been on sale for years in both kei car 660cc Turbo and non kei 1300cc versions.
I can't wait to be able to get the Copen
Too often, the same stuff breaks on old cars so buying a parts car mostly results in buying good parts you don't need and broken parts to replace your broken parts. You lucked out with Mr. Rusty. He donated almost everything K-CUP needed. Now if only you can find someone with a well maintained Cappuccino with a worn out engine and transmission who needs the rest of what Mr. Rusty has to offer.
that would be the dream
If you’re gonna keep the red cap for a while then I would say take out the parts you might need I. The future like the alternator, AC, calipers, hubs if the bearings wear out, body panels. But that’s me cause I like to hoard parts for the just in case.
Yeah I’m keeping the car running with all that
the exo car would be cool but you are talking about thousands of dollars and many months at a shop, and i dont believe NY would let you drive it around anyway
but you would need to find a shop upstate or out of state that specializes in roll cages
the blue capp doesn't have a title so whatever I do its mostly for fun and to BS around, if I keep it then I can apply for a title
what if you went back to japan find another messed up capp with a blown motor maybe some body damage and fix it up
My dream would be to put it ina Daihatsu Mira walkthru
Don't. That car is heartache and financial disaster, wrapped in one incredibly ugly package. Try to make it into a driving car, is like a dog checking out it's own vomit. If I've learned anything, it's that when something is terminally rotted, just walk away. Keep it whole, or save the pieces, but that car has no future as a car.
Well the goal wouldn't be to transform it into a car for daily use but (what about a drift car, or a lifted car like how they do lifted Miatas)
@Waybeforethefame
Trying to drift that rusty capp would be dangerous. That thing is structurally rotted, you risk having the seat fall through the floorboards and end up with a flinstones car.
take the door panel off
Yeah that would be for sale 100%
First....
