hey. thanks for the review! is the sound audiable to the ear? Do you think a condenser mic would it pick it, say a meter away?

If you have it on the lower setting it should be fine, it also depends on how much you boost the condenser mic. I tried it with Rode NT1 and I didn’t notice it at all.

OK Neil, so the main question that I have for you is, does the thing actually work? Does it really have any positive results on the camera's operation? Thanks so much.

Yes it does, it’s not going to be the answer to everything but it does keep the camera running for longer and a lot cooler.
I have used it with few cameras (all Sony as I like to match) I have used it with the ZV-1 as per the video but I have used it real world with the A7IV and the ZV-E1 (the full frame camera) and it has helped a lot and resulted in now over heating.
But if you want it to run for longer than an hour you will need to plug it it into a USB-C power supply.
Overall it’s a quick and easy solution it’s not a fix for everything but as a not too expensive purchase that will keep it running cooler for longer yes it works. Unless you are in a desert working under direct sunlight then no you will need something better.
