Created as a companion video to my series of DISNEY EVOLUTION videos (specifically 'Evolution of DAISY DUCK, Over 82 Years (1937-2019) Explained'), I take a look at the vocal evolution of the character as I compare the voices of all of Daisy’s official voice actors over time, including Clarence Nash, Gloria Blondell, Ruth Clifford, Vivi Janiss, June Foray, Janet Waldo, Patricia Parris, Kath Souci, Diane Michelle and Tress MacNeille.

The fact that both Main voices of Donald voiced daisy at least once was more then shocking to me.
daisy trying to kill herself is something I never thought I would see in an official disney production

Donald also attempted it in the cartoon "That Old Army Game." Back in the days when some cartoons while still appealing to kids had more adult elements in them. Today's culture is way too sensitive now.

@@pferreira1983 Probably cause Diane wasn't a Disney regular like Tress was and since Tress was already voicing Chip in various Mickey productions (plus her other Disney roles), it may have been cheaper to just use Tress as Daisy instead of Diane.

Tress and Patricia are my personal faves. Also, Tony's take is so strange that I can't help but crack up at it!
Tress MacNeille is best known as Dot Warner from Animaniacs who also voiced Daisy Duck as the official voice.
She will always be Babs Bunny to me more than Dot.

Vivi janiss' voice is so soothing and nice, I kind of wish daisys voice went down that road..

Debra Wilson is now doing the voice of Daisy in the second season of Mickey Mouse Funhouse. She definitely sounds similar to Tress. Sad to see some of the older voice actors begin to get replacements. Jim Cummings and Bill Farmer just turned 70 so they may be looking at successors too.
Tress didn't stop voicing Daisy. She is just busy with other projects. Tress was also no longer interested in doing Funhouse as she was busy with other projects. So Debra is a substitute for Daisy when Tress is unavailable.

Tony Anselmo's Daisy voice is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm surprised at how well Tony did Daisy's voice. Granted, it's not great, but well-enough to not do a very poor falsetto. I think this might be the first example of a male VA actually doing a good/decent job voicing a female character. Usually it's the other way around.
Tony Anselmo is legendary. An underrated voice actor if you ask me, all he’s really known for is Donald but he’s done some more as well.
And here I thought he would've given her the same duck voice he gave Huey Dewey and Louie just as his predecessor Clarence Nash did.
Interesting how Tress alternated between a younger and more matronly voice, depending on the project, in the '00s.
With Tress MacNeille remained as the voice of Daisy Duck, Debra Wilson became the first African American person to join the role alongside her.
She didn't retire, she's still voicing Daisy in Speedstorm and Minnie's Bow Toons. Tress only stepped back from Mickey Mouse Funhouse and the stop motions Mickey Mouse specials because she was busy with other projects.
Daisy is feathery fabulous! Funny, cute and hyper excitable. One of my favourite Disney characters. For me the best voices are the most recent, Kath Soucie and Tress McNeil. Daisy has to have a bit of an edge, especially in the anarchic House of Mouse and Quack Pack, which I absolutely love.
Without Tress, Daisy will die. Even if she gets recasted, it’s not enough. Kath is a good woman, but Tress makes everyone look amateurish, especially June.
Thank you for reminding me of Legend of the Three Caballeros. I REALLY wish Disney would make that show more easily accessible because it is amazing.

5:35 is a unique moment to cherish, where Tony Anselmo himself is doing Daisy Duck.
Just like Clarence Nash did with Daisy of the earliest Disney Donald Duck cartoons but in a different voice scenario.

Tress is probably my favorite of the bunch. I'm hoping to see one of these for Oswald some day.
Oswald's only current speaking role that I know of was the Epic Mickey games. He was voiced by the great Frank Welker.

The redudded shorts feel really out place since how much Daisy's characterization is so different but it's still her more popular voice
It's been driving me crazy ever since I watched your Evolution of Daisy video but, I know the short "Mr. Duck Steps Out" was, also, re-dubbed in the 80's or '90s before Tress MacNeille re-dubbed it in the 2000s. I know this because I have had the first re-dubbed version on video since I was a child. I, actually, really like the first re-dubbed version too. They kinda added a cute extra joke by having Daisy revert to her "duck" voice after going through that wild "Jitterbug" with Donald (implying the experience was so insane it's made her talk like him). I have no idea which voice of Daisy did the dubbing for that version though! Really wish I could track it down and find out but, no one else seems to be aware of its existence (clearly, since you didn't include it on here either). Great job on the video, as usual! I just wanted to add that extra tidbit that you missed, in the hopes that maybe you can track down the answer one day, if I can't.

@@DaveLeeDownUnder If it helps, I think I saw someone mention once that it might have been done even earlier for an episode of Walt Disney Presents/Wonderful World of Color, etc. but, if so, I'm not certain what episode it would've been... (I had only assumed the re-dubbing was done in the '80s/90's because that when I saw it aired. But, it's entirely possible it could've been originally from the '50s/'60s!)
@@SwiftFoxProductions I think I saw that version on a show called The Wonderful World of Disney that aired in syndication in the 80s or 90s. Walt Disney hosted segments, so it was obviously made earlier than when I saw it. I haven't seen that version in a long time, but when I was a kid I thought that Donald and Daisy had switched clothes. I remember being aware that there were two versions at the time. I can't remember if BOTH versions aired on this program, or if one of them was on one and the other on VHS or somewhere else.

That was Tress MacNeille voicing Daisy in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. I could hear the difference.
Both Macneille and Michelle voiced Daisy in Once Upon a Christmas. Credits state Macneille did the Donald Duck segment while Michelle did the Mickey Mouse segment.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder From what I've heard is that, Tress re-dubbed her voice on the Gift Of The Magi segment on subsequent releases of Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas. It's most likely that it is a later print.

Gloria Blondell was great as Daisy, her voice was sweet and soothing. Patricia Parris was good too. Diane Michelle and Tress Macneille are my favorite.

I'm not sure which voice of Daisy Duck I like best. My favourite Daisy Duck design is in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
In the past,Daisy Duck had the same voice as Donald Duck because the same voice actor
Kath soucie also voices Betty Deville from rugratz and Lola bunny also tress voices Charlotte pickles in rugratz too
I've gotten so used to Tress MacNeille that hearing some of these others was a bit jarring, but in the classic shorts where Nash voiced her in quack mode, it's jarring to hear it dubbed in MacNeille's voice.
I was surprised that Anselmo managed such a convincing falsetto for her.

Am I the only one who thinks that Donald's beak is a bit bigger than Daisy's?
Not that noticeable but I think most of his features are bigger than Daisy’s. His eyes are bigger than nearly every Disney duck. And I think he’s a bit more bottom heavy than Daisy.

Clarence's voice was the same exact Donald's voice, while Tress Macneille's redub version sounds more feminine but the right voice of Daisy Duck.

2:54 I know that short. Donald got dumped by Daisy and his double with the good looking voice went to her house and patched things up. But then Donald got jealous and went to confront him and when Daisy eventually found out of what was going on, oh boy was she mad. So Donald and his double ran for the hills. And this one 4:08 oh it was a good one, Donald was going to Daisy’s house but ran into chipmunks and even messed with them, they ratted him out and she even gave him the cold shoulder.
Tress will always be my Daisy. But my favorite character of hers is Dolph. Mrs. Skinner was never good to begin with, but Tress has done no character longer than that old lady.

You got the two daisy actresses mixed up for Once Upon a Christmas. Diane voiced Daisy in the Huey Dewey and Louie segment, and Tress voiced her in the Gift of the Magi segment.
The film's credits say otherwise. Tress is credited for 'Stuck on Christmas', while Diane is credited for 'Gift of the Magi':

If Tress dies or gives up voicing Daisy, I'm done with Disney. She's the only Daisy voice I've ever known. But the Mickey cartoons I watch are not before 1999 or after 2009.
Sounds like you're 'done with Disney' already if you don't watch anything made after 2009... that's 11 years worth of stuff. Also, you're missing out on so much not watching anything before 1999 - the earliest stuff is the greatest.
Sadly - life will move on, and Tress *will* eventually pass the role onto someone else... be that retirement or death. And it's something we'll have to deal with. She's not the first Daisy, and she won't be the last. Seems pretty poor to be 'done' with something because of it.
