As a Brit, i lived and worked in Munich 79-82, made many friends there. Rode my 79 Triumph T140 to and fro from the UK and thru the Alps. Wonderful city. Bavaria is a special place.
Great history and a very successful one too! Thanks for this video and great to see our WSB riders there. As a massive BMW fan myself and an owner of a 2020 S1000RR, I'd love to see our BMW riders on the podium in this years WSB and BSB races. All the best BMW Motorrad :)
Great to see the boys in Munich & especially riding the new R18’s. You had me salivating here in Australia as I actually get mine hopefully in October! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🙏🏻😷
This is why i love motrrad. Yall just keep it real doing your thing. I love that. Despite all the chaos in the 4 wheeled world, the two wheeled world is just perfect currently. Keep. It. Up.
OK, now my bucket list includes the BMW Motorrad in Munich. I must have a good look at that R5. Maybe I can ride my new R18 home afterwards. What a great video.
Hi Mark, feel free to listen to the engine sound of the R 18 here: www.bmwmotorcycles.com/en/models/heritage/r18.html#/section-experience-the-sound-of-the-r-18. 😉
Building a Dakar kinda replica, not exact an copy, but little different. HPN extended my driveshaft, rear shock they supplied and the big 43liter fueltank... I like the R18 in the bobberstyle...
I don't think they're trying to make money out of selling this bike. I feel like they just wanted to build something cool, with history, and see what other people could do with it. Maybe it sells, maybe it doesn't, but I feel like they just wanted to build something amazing. And they did, what a piece of art.
Hey BMW I've heard that the R9t is no more in production? Is that true? For 2021-2022 are you going to launch another air cooled boxer engine bike appart from the big R18,something like a 800-1000cc?
In its current configuration, the boxer will not be able to reach EURO5 ... it will therefore be discontinued. Please BMW ... we need a new one (if possible in a slightly bigger frame to accommodate my size)
@@frnchfrs yep thats why from 2021 they can't sell new more in the EU I suppose that with the good results of the r9t and the new trend of retro bikes and competition as triumph with their new scramblers, motoguzzi or Ducati they are going to do something. Thats the feeling and hope all I think we have....
Hi Peter, there are regular production stops in the product life cycle of a model. Unfortunately we do not give any information about future models or technologies. We'll keep you up to date on our social media channels.
R18 looks so so great. There are only 2 things that I dislike about R18: the headlight is mounted higher than one in the concept ( I think it should be mounted lower), the 2nd thing is that too much chrome on the pipes and engine covers is not my (own) taste. The 3rd problem which is not mine but maybe other's is that rider who's gotten acquainted with forward footpegs may not like mid-mounted footpegs on the R18, especially very tall rider.
Hello motogriso1, thank you for your feedback on our video. We will forward it to the appropriate department. If you have any other suggestions for improvement, please let us know. Best regards, your BMW Motorrad Team
In many ways, the R/18 is true to its heritage, but it is a strippy. By that, i mean the front fender is too small and has no function other than to not look naked. The fuel tank is too small for such a huge engine, and it is an Aftermarket catalog in the making. I rode a 1953 R/51/3 that was better equipped than this one is. Mine had the 6 1/2 gallon tank on it, and only boasted a 500cc twin engine. Mine had a two up comfortable seat on it. Mine had a full rear fender as well. It had turn signals on te ends of the handlebars. This Bike needs a full front fender, not only to make it look more stylish, but the oil cooler is a critcal part of the cooling system to the motor, and it is totally unprotected. A full front fender would fix that problem. Personally, i would want it styled after my R51 front fender. Where, at the base, it fanned out much like a german helmet of WWII. I would also add a set of bags on it, even if they were leather slipovers. It would get a SOFT seat that my girl could also ride on that doesnt feel like a cement brick to sit on. Come on, BMWs R&D department needs to step up to the plate and make a real bike for once. The Company USED to own the title of the Rolls Royce of Motorcycles, but it seems like theyve all but forgotten their own heritage....

Nice guy is Tom. I have seen him at the wsbk in Assen. Always time for the fans.
Tom Sykes is a class act and not a bad Elvis impersonation either 😝

Thanks!
My last weeks went like this. Driving 525i E34 and Ural Motorcycle with BMW-roots boxer engine and drinking Bavarian beer. Perfect 👌🏼
Huge history and a big respect !
Hello Mandoiu, Tha's music to our ears! Thank you for the compliment. 🙌
Great video! Greetings from Cape Town
Hello Richard, greetings back from Munich! 😎
Cool, now let’s see them bikes on the podium soon 💪☘️
what a bike...😍 i love it...if only i could buy it in my lifetime💃
Thanks for allowing us a vicarious tour. The R18 looks great. I would love to hear the engine sounds instead of background music.

Danke. My point exactly... the engine sounds wonderful, keep it in the video if possible. 🙃

Einmal BMW-Motorrad immer BMW-Motorrad. 😉 Beeindruckende Historie.

Exactly !
Same with the R9T
Sehr schöner Bericht über die BMW Historie. Tom Sykes ist sehr sympathisch. Echt sehenswert, obwohl ich Ducati fahre ;)
Please shoot in 4k hdr

@@bmwmotorrad thanks for the answer!!!
I understand it for obvious reasons.
Anyways as long you make boxer bikes I will be your customer forever.
Why you buy 1200cc bike when you can't use full power. Answer is BMW 310 and royal Enfield himalayan , right price and right power
BMW ❤❤❤
🖤
I toured the Berlin plant where my bike was made two years ago. Is this facility in Munich open for such tours?
✌️
Cool
I want one of these bikes with mini apes so bad!
love BMW ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I would love an R18 GS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now release a service manaul
R18😍
BMW motorbikes are from Berlin. Not Munich !
In cars, i am Mercedes Benz enthusiast, own a few now. but for Motorcycle, BMW has a strong heritage behind their motorcycles than their cars.
Das heißt nicht BMDabbelyou sondern BMW !
BMVeh
A bmw greatest hits place for sure. May god forbid they ever place an E65 there, or worse...the New 4 series
Camera work isn’t that great. Why not close ups of engines?
Engine sounds instead of music would be a wonderful improvement

Hello David,
thank you for your honest and detailed feedback!
As nice as Eugene is, Sykes is so annoying. The bike is Stunning! Too bad I cannot give up my GSA, the best bike ever built!
Mate Sykes is a class act and the most approachable athlete I’ve come across from a wide range of sports!
Toast? No wonder they crashed.
To much car content in this video.. this is a motorcycle channel. So the one dislike is my.
Come on BMW you can do better..
