  • Just a short one today, the day after cleaning the carpets the civics SRS light appeared. In this video I show you how to reset it on an EK3 civic! It took me multiple attempts to get the timing right.
I believe the process is the same for EG, EK, EP civics - and other hondas around the 90's.
    Instructions below:
    1. There is a yellow plug under the dash plugged into the fuse panel. It has two wires going into it. Take that plug out, place a jumper wire (or paperclip) into the two holes to short the wires.
    2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” (II) position. The SRS light will go off. Within 4 seconds unplug the jumper wire.
    3. When the SRS light comes back on plug the jumper wire back in within 4 seconds.
    4. Once the light goes off again, remove the jumper wire. The light will blink twice and go out.
    5. Unplug the jumper and turn the ignition key off, wait 15 -20 seconds and start the car

I also had to try a few times. I think I waited too long when the light disappears the second time. My final successful attempt was when I removed the jumper as soon as the light went off, the 2nd time. Then I got the double-blink. Thanks!

You should check that the airbags are still working with a test crash.

If this doesnt work and you still want the light off just unplug it from behind the cluster

Solves the light issue, but currently in the UK the light needs to illuminate and then go off with the ignition as part as the yearly inspection 👍 you could always wire up a timed relay to achieve that I guess 😆

@@Benergy_Fit Disclaimer: I'm not a car mechanic. They should work, else the light will eventually come back on. If so, get a mechanic to check the code. Also know that resetting that light's status does not clear codes from memory if there is/was an actual problem. One know cause of the light coming on, if if the car was left with absolutely no power (dead or missing battery/accumulator) for a while.

It's only plugged into a holder, doesn't actually go anywhere, I've left mine hanging incase it needs resetting again
