I've always done my own fork maintenance and even some re-valving but it always sucks when you get a different bike with different suspension and all the special suspension tools you have no longer work on your new bike, I've even made a few tools myself as a lot of the tools are not that complicated but are very specific to certain models of forks, it's pretty interesting to see how different manufacturers design and improve their suspension over time and the different approaches they take to suspension internals.
I just did fork seals for the first time last night on my '96 kx125. After paying a small fortune getting my AER's and shock on my '18 300 back last week after being lowered internally I decided to give it a shot on my play bike. I didnt have the seal driver so I wrapped about 1/8 " electrical tape around tube to set them and it worked pretty good , saw that trick on the 'net.
I know it's a few years old now but maybe you or another reader can tell me how different this process is from the 2015-2018 rmz450's? And that motion pro p/n didn't come back to anything for me. The oem version is way overpriced at 249+ eBay lol.
Hey, love the video and really helps put some good info on this. I have a 2013 RMZ 450 and had a shop change the fluid, bushings and seals. Before I installed them on the bike, I noticed the left fork that holds the caliper is about 3 inches shorter than the right fork. Im not sure if there isnt enough fluid in the left fork or too much in the right one, I dont believe these forks take air or nitrogen so im at a point where im not sure what to do other than empty the fluid and start again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
This was so helpful thank you! I have a hard time finding torque specs for my 2020 RMZ450. Do you know any good resources or have those available? Specifically pressure plate and triple clamp torque for now.
Hay Morgan what’s your opinion on the little motion pro fork bleeder buttons I have them on my 06 yz250 I use to get a little bit of air out every ride now I’m getting barely any to nothing the forks are still amazing though
Also a question about fork bleeders. Does it matter if the forks are weighted (bike standing on it's own weight) or de weighted (bike on a stand wheels in the air) when you bleed the air?
Nothing except they are harder to bleed and you can change the clicks while rebuilding. If you don't count and write them down then you wouldn't know that you screwed the settings up.
I have a rm 125 i just ride trails on but the forks are way to stiff, the clickers are all the way on soft but still to stiff ,what should i do to get them softer
This may be a dumb question but you push the plunger rod back in and it came out. I just did my 2005 RMZ 450 and if I push the plunger rod in it stays in. If I pull it out it sucks back in. Got any idea what I need to do?
@@kkc3009 what are you talking about? I definitely don’t intentionally mislead anyone. It was a mistake although I don’t even remember doing it. And my views are great in my opinion. Why on earth would I mislead someone about a part number. That is probably the dumbest accusation I’ve ever heard

Good job dude. I enjoy the videos. You got a good gig going. If I were local I would shop through you rather than online. Keep up the good videos! 👍
Thanks
Great video! Love these how-tos!
Thanks
Amazing skills and man I wish I could take a class in this and not forget
Thanks

That is because only one fork has a spring in it. The left fork doesn’t so it will slide together some. Should be just fine

The shop manual should have them.

@@martinh2075 I always bleed them when the bike is on a stand and the front wheel Is in the air
Bleed with no weight on forks and I like the bleeders from System Tech Racing
What would happen if you don't back your clickers out?

Hey Bro, I'm looking at a 21' Rmz 450 and it has a small amount of oil on the right fork tube, is that normal or a leak? Thanks.
It’s a leak. Try to talk them down a couple hundred to fix it
@Highland Cycles Cool, then I'll take it home, lower the dust boot and clean the seal.
( I just watched a bunch of vids)
Thanks!
Should this work for a 2015 rmz450?
Yep

Maybe change oil viscosity
I had a question
And maybe a few les ounces ?

You need to replace the cartridge seals
@@highlandcycles ok thx
I wanted to say thank you for sharing the Word of God also
@@randymeredith3048 thank you
I did this and still does not work and once cartridge is tight it still leaks when tilted over
Good video
Thank you
Good as gold!!!

Why would you say the motion pro part number is 08056908-0569 when it's actually 08-0569?
Not sure. Sorry man. Hope you recover
@@highlandcycles that's why you have low views. Trying to show others how you work on mx bikes but intentionally misleading them.
