  • While it may be common knowledge that most RV brands are owned by larger companies, many don't realize those companies are all organized in different ways. In this video, we're going to share who makes what RV, and some insights about how those companies operate.
    Full disclosure, we are not going to get all 300+ brands in this video, so it is possible your favorite may not make it in this quick rundown. This is the beginning of a series of videos, and in the future, we will be taking a closer look at individual brands. So stay tuned!

    Welcome to another RV life video from RV Miles! Were you surprised by who owns what? Did we miss your favorite RV? We couldn't. get to them all, but this is just the beginning of a series of videos where we bring you just the facts about who owns what, and who makes what. We hope you'll share your thoughts with us on this whether this type of content is useful. Please remember to keep your comments kind and to the point, and we promise to do the same. Thanks! About Thor. We made a mistake and bought an RV that would not accommodate my wife's disability, a Gemini 23TW. I sent a letter to Thor customer service, on a hope and a prayer. A dealership reached out to us saying that the VP from Thor had contacted them and was willing to buy back our TW and get us into a more accommodating camper. I will never forget this level of service. Thank you.

      You could say the same thing about GM 15+yrs ago. They are doing the same shit, with the same stuff and same wool pulled over your eyes now... that they are then.
      1. Quality Control is a piece of Psychology that no one gets 100%
      2. You can spend 40g or 4mil and get the same shit...
      3. "Affordable" and or "Reliable" is also Psychology. These things..= RVs dont last 10+yrs without major infusions of cash. Affordable, they are strictly based on the scale of disposable income. HOW much cash are you willing to throw away? Also, dont even think about how much you might get back....

    Enlightening info. I think the Europeans are a step ahead with their more parking friendly motorhomes. They have great designs, too.

    • @buildthings79
      @buildthings79 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Europe it's necessary to make small RV's because most towns and villages have small roads and the distance to travel in one shot is not very long. In the US. It takes 4-5 days to drive across it one way and there many areas out west that don't have stores and gas stations for long distances. Not to mention everything isn't so cramped so parking lots and roadways are much bigger. Engineers don't have to pack everything onto a small space which in turn drives up the cost not just for manufacturing but service also.

    I'd keep an eye on Alliance in the 5th wheel and toy hauler configurations. Grand Design (GD) is generally regarded as a market front-runner in these RV categories, but Alliance has a few former GD employees in key production positions and the leadership has decent pedigree. The thing I like about Alliance is that they are very open to owner input to the point of being obsessed about what real life owners are asking for. 😊👍

We have a very nice tent as a "just in case" . With all those manufacturers out there of larger rvs, it seems it must be very crowded all over the place. Hope everyone is safe and having great times! Interesting. I had no idea Jayco, Keystone and Airstream were all part of the same extended family. I knew a lot of the Forest River brands were related but didn’t know Berkshire Hathaway owned them (explains Haylett RV’s Josh’s “Don’t sue me Warren Buffet!” jokes, now I get it!)
    It’s funny how the different brands have similar levels. I’d put Rockwood/Flagstaff up with Keystone and both up with Grand Design while Jayco can be in that tier or up against Wildwood/Salem… and Airstream is just their own ridiculously high niche product level which doesn’t map well against the others (for better or for worse.)
    Very interesting. It doesn’t really change my opinions on any of them because they are all so separate but it does explain the reason some compete against others without cannibalizing from those within the family so to speak. Wildwood isn’t going to go all aluminum frame to compete with Rockwood for example. Jayco isn’t going to make Airstream-like RVs ever.

    • @RVMiles
      @RVMiles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah and then within brands there are huge ranges, too. For instance, you can't expect the same quality from a Jay Flight that you get out of a North Point, both made by Jayco, but by different people in different factories for a wildly different price point.

    Wow! Just given the number of different RV types it would appear the travel trailer and 5th wheel are the top sellers. Is there a breakdown of sales by type? I’m actually curious if the Super C on a commercial truck chassis is growing in sales and what percent of the market they represent. I see more of them on the road and it appears as though more manufacturers are developing this class of RV.

    I wish you would have covered what companies own what Popup campers. Even though it's not to hard to figure out.

    I know a person who owns a dealership here in Ohio. He recently told me to never, ever buy any travel trailer made in Indiana. They are the poorest built trailers on the market. Too bad most are built there.

    There are not enough campgrounds with spots for all the RVs.

    Hi there! I just found & subscribed to your Channel, seems that you're great researchers, so I'm hoping you can help: Last year I bought a used 2005 KIT (Mnfctr.) "Companion" Model 328F 5th Wheel Trailer from a private party only to find out the Company went out of business (it's plant was in Southern California). I've been trying to get info on the MANY things I need to know about repairs, model #s of appliances, plumbing & electrical diagrams, etc. as I try to get needed repairs done. I'm a 68 yr old disabled widow & alone with only a cellphone (no computer). This is my only home...I rent space with water & elec. on private property. Can you HELP?! Please & Thank you. Looking forward to more of your videos.

    I am surprised. The ones that I like are not a part of the Big 4!
    Where does Starcraft fit in? Our family had a pop up trailer from them in the 1960's.
