I know exactly how you feel with the glasses steaming up. I've worn glasses since I was nine years old. But now, at age 69, I'm finally done with them! I had a "mild" cataract condition on my right eye so my optometrist finally OK'd going through cataract surgery, replacing my "bad" viscous lens - the one that does the near/distant focusing - with implants. The eye surgeon that took on my case said that I had possibly the worst corrective lens prescription that he had ever seen. I was very myopic, and had really strong astigmatism. I related that I was hoping to not need eyeglasses any longer after the cataract surgery. He advised me that, if that was what I wanted, the only way that he thought that could be achieved was if I selected the new (they've only been available for a couple of years now) EDOF implant lenses (EDOF meaning Extended Depth of Field) which promise to give perfect focus continuously from around 10 to 11 inches from the eye all of they way out to infinity. The cost would be about $3000.00 USD per eye! Otherwise he could give me 20/20 distant vision in both eyes, or 20/20 distant vision in one eye and 20/20 close vision in the second eye (which he strongly discouraged), but I would still have to carry reading glasses for reading and for any close work. He strongly encouraged me to go the (expensive) EDOF route. And that's what I did. It's been just under two weeks since I had the left eye done - they did the right eye first, then nine days later the left - and I am absolutely happy with the results. I can read at close distance well enough that I have no issues at all in reading the date complication on a wristwatch, I can read fine print perfectly well and see my computer screen and read books with complete comfort. I can also look at distant trees, over a mile away, and see individual branches on the trees! I would advise anyone who has cataracts, and who is apprehensive about the surgery, either because it might be painful or that there might be irritation or discomfort during the recovery/healing process, to not worry. Go ahead and get it done! (And I can go outside in freezing weather and then come in to the warm house and NOT have condensation and fogging on my eyeglasses never again!)
Oh, I re-read my reply above today and I realized that there were a couple of things I forgot to add. So I'll tag them on now: First, regarding the surgery and recovery. It was SO MUCH easier than I anticipated it would be. I can honestly say that the only uncomfortable moment I experienced through the whole process was in the pre-op area when they put some eye-drops in the surgical eye. They stung for about three seconds, at about the level of discomfort of getting a little soap in your eye in the shower. After that, all the way to now, there was absolutely no discomfort. And I was awake during the entire process as I had to be able to follow the surgeon's directions as to "look up", "look left", etc. Of course in pre-op they had inserted an IV in my opposite hand, and before surgery they gave me some "silly sauce", and I wouldn't have cared WHAT they were working on. (Perhaps if you need a colonoscopy or vasectomy, maybe you can save some money on a package deal.) Second, regarding the implant lenses they used. These are made by Alcon in Texas, I believe. They are branded "AcrySof IQ Vivity", and use what they describe as "wavefront shaping technology". They somehow shape all of the incoming light waves into a kind of cohesive compressed bundle of about 5mm in diameter, and present to the retina in that manner. I read a couple of scientific papers that are available for your reading pleasure via a Google search. I found that most of the deeper concepts were way beyond my ability to understand, so I just marked it down to being reverse-engineered from a crashed UFO.

I started taking Maca root as well as elim all oils except ev olive oil to be rid of the whole body inflammation that causes the gout/joint and arthritic pain. It does wonders. Eliminating all sugar and grains/pasta/rice/flour will help tremendously. Love your videos too much to see you struggle sir. Keep them coming.

That was a vintage TMF comedy bike review. Having done quite a bit of green laning, you demonstrated perfectly what its like when you first start out. So much better than these ex motorcross guys ripping through the woods. TMF is keeping it real!! Nice to start my Saturday with a smile.

FYI I ride (CRF300L) in some really knarly conditions and terrain with the ABS on. Mainly because I'm usually to lazy to stop and turn it off. The ABS is nowhere near as intrusive as you might think and it actually is really nice on the front down very steep and long descents.
Yeah it isn't really needed unless doing steep hills in my experience. Going down roads like this would definitely leave it on to help avoid washing out.

A small hint for riding off road, keep your feet on the pegs and put weight on them...it lowers your COG and makes the bike more stable. When you are seated on the bike, with your feet dangling to prevent tipping, then your body weight is supported higher on the bike and your COG is higher.
Normally like the channel, sorry don't think your suited to off road riding, how can you think it's safe and legal to ride on a public highway without your glasses
It gets better the more you do it plus you start to customize your bike to meet your needs…handguards, skid plate, better tires, etc. I found one of the best upgrades to my Yamaha XT250 was wider foot pegs…made standing up a lot less taxing on my legs and I found I could/would stand up longer/more often.
As a reasonably experienced on road rider and novice off road rider, I shared your worries all the way along that green lane. Who would think off road riding could be so different, humbling and down right frightening compared with on road riding. The funny thing is adventure bikes like the CRF love it! It’s the rider that has the problems! It does get easier I am finding. But it takes time. Off road rider training really helps. Nows there’s an idea for a vlog.

Great vid as always. Maybe you could do a video on coping with wearing glasses sometime. I know there are anti-fog products out there, although the ones I’ve tried haven’t been much cop. Are there particular helmets better suited to wearing glasses? That would definitely be a video I’d like to see.

Bet you didnt let the tyre pressures down to around 15 - 18 psi on the back and around 20 -22 psi front its only a track the smoke is normal bedding the head gasket in the re tension the exhaust bolts tou can even drop the pressures to 12 -15 psi and 16 - 18 then learn to stand up on the pegs and use your knees to balance and direct the bike
All my friends love green laning and going through bogs over the mountain but having tried it 3 times I still hate it. I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't enjoy wading through muck at walking pace but honestly I really don't get it. I wish I did!

Police alert Andy, in normal road tests, quite rightly you’re cautious about showing ‘higher’ speeds on camera. When you have prescription glasses, there’re a requirement to ride/drive ‘in accordance with your driving licence’. ie. Licence not valid if not wearing glasses. Otherwise a bold effort publicising your inner fears on TH-cam 👏 👍 Couple of tips: 1. when you’re dangling your feet, and not having them on the pegs, you lose your balance. 2. Your heated riding kit is great for the road, but with increased activity, you’d be overheating very quickly. Ps. I’d love you to share your experiences at a uk off road riding school. Bound to attract a lot of viewers
Classic chicken and egg situation there, your tired / breathless probably through tension as your so nervous when riding off road. The more tense you are more tired you get. Used to be the same when skiing, wide pistes go all day , start going down narrow routes more nervous / tension sets in. Would be good to see you do some proper off-road training

You are well outside your comfort zone, stick to the road. I started my motorcycling back in 1975 with a montesa cota 247, was pretty good, then switched to road bikes.. and now I hate anything that's not tar seal...
Green lane??? more like mud lane. Put a Dunlop D606 on the rear and a Pirelli M21 on the front, and up the rear sprocket to a 45 tooth. then try it again. Think you will enjoy it much more.

ive been riding dirt roads for a long time and in rainy season its just normal for smoke to occure when dirt and mud accumulate in the exhaust in wet season its the water evaporating from the heat of the exhaust.
I'd say you have way to much air in the tires. Try 12 psi front and rear, oh and sit or lean right back to move your weight to the rear tire and off the front.
That was quite funny, especially the deep bit when you started panicking 🤣 it's been 30 year's since I've done any of that, all i can remember is if in doubt, go faster 😉 😜
I think it helps to be young and have more of a devil may care attitude for off-roading? I swear, when you took your specs off, the camera got more blurry.😂😂😂
A bit more training offroad is what you need, I find it to be the best workout, gets your heart pumping and with studded tires I can be on two wheels even in wintertimes here up north.
All credit to you , I haven't been off road for st least 30 years .( on an xl 250 ) Since Had a bunch of adventure bikes and last time I went up a gravel road I was a complete Fanny on my vstrom 1000 .. One of my riding buddies is after me to do a bit of off roading with him on bigger and heavier bikes. It has been almost 20 years since I did any and as you discovered the fitness would be my key concern. I'm saving my effort for the apoplectic scenario when I have to get out of town. The smoke will be caused by the mud and water flying onto the exhaust

All my friends love green laning and going through bogs over the mountain but having tried it 3 times I still hate it. I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't enjoy wading through muck at walking pace but honestly I really don't get it. I wish I did!

TMF Family - Paris-Dakar Training - One: Baby Steps.
Find a friendly farmer with a field that gets ploughed next week & bribe with a really nice bottle of 'Chateau Collapso'.
Wheel out two cheap mopeds (farm prepped in the tractor shed racing dept.) & go get stupendously muddy. Y'all : )
Police alert Andy, in normal road tests, quite rightly you’re cautious about showing ‘higher’ speeds on camera. When you have prescription glasses, there’re a requirement to ride/drive ‘in accordance with your driving licence’. ie. Licence not valid if not wearing glasses. Otherwise a bold effort publicising your inner fears on TH-cam 👏 👍
Couple of tips: 1. when you’re dangling your feet, and not having them on the pegs, you lose your balance. 2. Your heated riding kit is great for the road, but with increased activity, you’d be overheating very quickly.
Ps. I’d love you to share your experiences at a uk off road riding school. Bound to attract a lot of viewers
I could be critical of your off-roading hesitancy, if I didn’t know that I’d be exactly the same!
Classic chicken and egg situation there, your tired / breathless probably through tension as your so nervous when riding off road. The more tense you are more tired you get.
Used to be the same when skiing, wide pistes go all day , start going down narrow routes more nervous / tension sets in.
Would be good to see you do some proper off-road training

You are well outside your comfort zone, stick to the road. I started my motorcycling back in 1975 with a montesa cota 247, was pretty good, then switched to road bikes.. and now I hate anything that's not tar seal...

Green lane??? more like mud lane. Put a Dunlop D606 on the rear and a Pirelli M21 on the front, and up the rear sprocket to a 45 tooth. then try it again. Think you will enjoy it much more.

HAHA you did it ! we all know this bike is good off road , we all watch itchy boots , we just wanted to put you through it 🤣 just shows that a novice can do it on this bike if they wanted to ,which is the point really . Just the bike to take in the back of a van to the I.O.M. TT . I know people that do this and get about the island when the roads go into lock down for the racing , now there's an adventure for you to try 😉😁

ive been riding dirt roads for a long time and in rainy season its just normal for smoke to occure when dirt and mud accumulate in the exhaust in wet season its the water evaporating from the heat of the exhaust.

I'd say you have way to much air in the tires. Try 12 psi front and rear, oh and sit or lean right back to move your weight to the rear tire and off the front.
A bit stiff old chap. Keep it loose takes time though. The more you fall off the easier it gets. 🤔 the smell of burnt mud lovely.
The burning is just wet mud burning up on the hot exhaust.
I know that lane and yes it gets slippy, but those stock tyres are SH1T!!😋

A bit more training offroad is what you need, I find it to be the best workout, gets your heart pumping and with studded tires I can be on two wheels even in wintertimes here up north.

All credit to you , I haven't been off road for st least 30 years .( on an xl 250 ) Since Had a bunch of adventure bikes and last time I went up a gravel road I was a complete Fanny on my vstrom 1000 .. I'll stick to tarmac in future..

One of my riding buddies is after me to do a bit of off roading with him on bigger and heavier bikes. It has been almost 20 years since I did any and as you discovered the fitness would be my key concern.
I'm saving my effort for the apoplectic scenario when I have to get out of town. Yep I'm saving my energy for the zombies that is my story.
