The emotion of this song is so different coming from a teenage girl compared to the emotion I heard from Chris Isaac. Obviously Chris sang it from the view point of a grown man. Angelina is singing this from a far more vulnerable place. How many young girls have felt this after their first heartbreak. Angelina feels so deeply, it's part of her genius. This truly is an amazing rendition, and once again, she's made an iconic song all hers. Britt, your the best.

What I get from this song is, what iam hearing, is that the person singing the song, there was no love in this world, it's full of people that don't love no one, but that the singer is full of love and passion and wants to know love, so here come someone new that is different from all the rest, that is not like what the world says you should love, and this person does show love and passion to the singer, the love the singer has been looking for and in this way saves the singer, but the singer doesn't want to fall in love at the same time or with a person like you but the singer does fall in love anyways even if the world say you had not fall in love with a person like this, this is love it must be, because it feels true and right but the cruel world says no its not right so that means nobody loves no one in this world if true love is not true love so the singer feels lose because the world says no so they are sad because they are going to lose the one they love, another romeo and juliet love song this sounds like to me

Hello Britt 👋 That was actually a great reaction to 12 Angie. We understand what you're trying to say 🙂. When Angie was asked about this song 🎵 when she was 12, She said, "I just wanted to try it out in my little music corner in her bedroom ". And as they say the rest is history. When Sune made this video and sent it to her, she was so happy and loved it so much, that sent him lots of these kinds of 🥰😍❤❤💞💞 👍👍 emoji's. Yup she a 12 year old. I loved the original and even Diana's Ankudinova's and her nice produce piece with her Russian folk flare to it for a competition when she was 14. But Angelina's stripped down playing just 3-4 chords on the piano just to try it out & in 1 take 🤯, is masterfully done & at 12 no less. God bless you sweetie 🙏✝️❤🙂👍

  • @paulwagner9303
    @paulwagner9303 ปีที่แล้ว +32

It's a song about unanswered love - just like "I put a spell on you". But the songwriter dealt with this experience very differently. The original is a very sweet song, bittersweet of course. Some fans of the original artist complain that Angelina's rendition is too harsh and scratchy. But getting the same, unchanged, from Angelina is unlikely. Your explanation is on top - just changing the arrangement and using her voice in a different way changes the feel of original songs and sometimes the meaning to something else.

The song is basically about finding out/being told that the one you've fallen for isn't interested, was leading you on and never felt anything for you...I believe it was an actual experience of Chris Isaak's that spawned the song's writing...
I like the last line "nobody loves no one"...I had a friend who would say that all the time because he believed that it implied that there was no such thing as love...he'd say it when he would have relationship problems....then I pointed out to him that it's a double negative and that it actually means 'everybody loves someone'...you have a lovely day Britt

I believe Angelina draws all this emotion from the depths of her compartmentalized
vocal memory and if you are truly familiar with Billie Holiday it becomes clear as to
why she separates Billie from all other singers she's experienced. To say that out of
all the great singers she's heard, only Billie is placed on a pedestal she shares with
no other singer in her mind, explains why Angelina has said, in a matter of fact way,
that 'There would be no Angelina, if not for Billie'. The enormity of this statement is
beyond extraordinary until you dissect Billie's library of heartfelt ballads and realize
the improvisation, nuance, inflections and style of delivery only Billie was capable of
doing in such an emotion laden, penetrating way that only a true 'vocal chameleon'
like Angelina is able to bring forth with Angelina's own personal sound.

@@erikcouvret Same kind of thing happened to me when I showed my sister Angelina's cover of "Happier" in early 2020 (along with about 40 other AJ videos - and I am not exaggerating). I told her that I vaguely recalled that the original sounded somewhat similar to how Angelina sang it, but I couldn't really remember. Of course, we all know that's not _at all_ true. Turns out, I was "vaguely recalling" Angelina's own rendition, which I had heard shortly after it was posted about a year earlier, but not again until I was reviewing all her CoverChannel videos to pick out which ones I wanted to show my sister. According to my Watch History at the time, I had never even looked up the original to compare it to.😄 (BTW, there's a "Stripped" version by the original artists that's much closer to Angelina's version. It was posted to YT about 5 months before her cover.)

Hi Britt. Don't try too hard to figure it out. As I commented on another of her reaction videos, she seems to be the musical equivalent of the mythological god of love, Cupid, but instead of shooting arrows, Angelina takes every atom of emotion and feeling, in every song she sings, and shoots it straight into your heart and soul. How she can do this, even when singing songs about essentially adult experiences that she could not have possibly gone through in her young life, remains a debated mystery, prompt[ng theories of reincarnation and old souls. And she does it completely naturally and effortlessly, as in this song at 12 years old, when she just decided to "try it out in her music corner". We just have to sit back and be blessed by it. And I agree with you that this type of song most clearly brings out the exquisite, rich, velvety, multilayered, multitextured beauty of her voice. Lovely reaction. Oh, and btw, you have a beautiful speaking and singing voice yourself.

Angelina is like a chameleon. She is able to render songs like Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Freddie Mercury and so on, and so on... In this particular song I sensed a little bit of Lana Del Rey. Am I mistaken ?

Great job as always it's original song was a big video hitting in the '90s I believe it was sung by a male but the video featured a beautiful female model with gorgeous green amphibious eyes sit on a beach

It's not just about emotions, it's also perspective.
Her perspective is a young girl falling in love for the first time, being scared of all these intense, new feelings, and reluctance of letting herself be caught up in them.
Chris isac was singing from someone who have loved and been hurt before, afraid of letting anyone in again, because he knew how it would hurt if things did not work out, and his love was unanswered/one-sided. About fearing someone was playing with his feelings just for fun.

I interpret this song differently. Because of the dance it was mashed up with expresses love far and away more than obsession because she does not sound obsessed but attuned with her lover and the dance video reflects this so well. She has such a loving spirit which many people find unbelievable and unfathomable not clear but mysterious. That is the draw to this Angel such mystery and almost alien universality for love:

Cara signora lei è troppo intelligente.Lei ha capito Angelina al di là della musica.Pero' Angelina farà ancora di più : diventerà la più grande cantante di questo secolo.
