I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it so much. As someone with 150h+ i‘d like to make a suggestion regarding housing: Wouldnt it be nice If every house had a second door which leads to a backyard where you can farm your own stuff? Like you have your roots and put them into soil and within a few days you get your lithopsherb? I think that would be a nice addition to the main game
Yeah that would be awesome, except their choice of using Lithops as a consumable. Its a succulent actualy, not an herb, and nobody eats those. They are super slow growing lol. I want to be able t o close the door of my house when Im inside, it feels weird leaving it open.
@@Ribcut I'd say 30h of the 150 was me trying to find clay. With the early access release there were a few balancing bugs so you had to spend much more time to to progess. Right now I would say you could do it in 20-30 hours.
I really love the passion Thomas speaks with he seems like a good guy. It's nice to see a dev interview and it's an actual good conversation and not an awkward Q&A
$40 for this game is a steal. It’s very very rare to see devs this involved in community feedback and the notion of just “make it fun” . It’ll likely be a GOTY nominee.
About being able to craft every weapon: I'm not that big of a fan for multiple reasons: - You have to keep trading in mind. Let's say there's a super good and rare weapon. If everyone is able to craft it, what's the point of it being 'rare'? People would mass-craft it to sell, and the 'economy' would be bloated with this rare weapon. - Just the feeling of finding a rare weapon or piece of armor is much more rewarding for me. I get much more of a 'high' when finally finding that weapon or armor I've been searching for. It gives me motivation to keep playing. - Not being able to craft everything I want makes me try different gear before actually finding that one piece I really want, and maybe I find something else that I really like that I otherwise wouldn't have used. I do like your suggestion about when you find something, you could use it for crafting. Not really sure how it would work, but there's definitely something possible there
Im a podcast enjoyer and I'm very new to your channel. With that being said, I definitely enjoy content like this. Even if it's just with this creator I want more of this
1.0 being considered the “Fellowship of the Ring” implies that it’ll only be a third of the overall story at launch. This is a VERY tantalizing prospect, because I am in love with all the narrative aspects of No Rest for the Wicked. The idea of getting more story over months or years is exciting.
I’m going to post ideas as they come, so this will get updated as a watch more stuff. Here we go! Necromancer and minion path finding - I think a very simple solution would be to have a skill that teleports your minions to a location. That way, if you run ahead of them and then run in to mobs, you can cast your minion teleport skill to bring them in to the battle. That also sort of handles the idea of how to get your minions to target specific enemies and stuff. It would feel interactive as opposed to passive. Forced in game child labor. You’re disgusting! I love it haha. I really love how much care they put in to this game. I love that they have a vision and that’s not something they’re going to compromise on. Sure they’ll change this or that, but I really appreciate that if something doesn’t fit their vision then they won’t use it. That creates a much better game. It might not be for everyone, but it will be the absolute best for those people that appreciate that vision. YES!! Choice should matter!! Decisions should have weight! Love it! I agree, changing the rings system was a great decision. I already stopped stacking rings before they even made that change haha. AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHH!!!! HE ALREADY GOT MY TOWER DEFENSE IDEA!!! AHHHH!!! I wonder if he read my comment hahaha. Dude… I’m man-crushing hard on Thomas right now. Final thought: great interview brother! Your excitement and passion really added a lot to the discussion. Very happy to see your platform grow and get recognized! Glad I found you early on this journey and I’m excited to continue watching this game evolve with you!
Something that came to mind when i heard the dev talk about the fighting game inspiration is the way some fg tackle a summoner character. For example instead of just an IA companion you could make that when you attack your Pet is the one that makes the animations and you have to aim their attacks and reset their positions. Kinda like a puppet or you controlling 2 characters at once
1:13:25 about the Transmog: Im a fan of transmog, i play activley GW2 and i like how its done there; You could do the transmog like in Guild Wars 2, where you could only transmog the respective weight class (Heavy only transmog with Heavy, Medium with Medium, Light with Light). This would preserve the armor class and at least give you a small choice of appearance. Also,if you dont like it, you dont have to use it but the option for one who likes it, is atleast there.
The interview was absolutely amazing, especially for those already playing the game! You can tell Ginger was ecstatic for this one! I’m still awaiting patiently for the early release news for the console, enshrouded console release is now planned for 2025😢, but , much like this game , I absolutely understand, it’s the anticipation and excitement that’s killing me😁 Thankfully Space Marines 2 comes out next month, so between that and hopefully Path of Exile 2 , that will be Hours of game play until these two titles release!

A really great interview and thanks to you both for sharing this. I have been following news on this game for a few months now and I really like the look of it, but also the combat approach. Not just stupid button smashing but tactile combat. During the interview I got some ideas that I don't know if they are already implemented or scheduled for, but I immediately felt excitement. Since the developers might read this, I just put them here and who knows... 1) i like the idea of walking through a game world and i can come across monsters that are rare. It immediately gets you excited because you feel lucky. It also gives you the thrills because will you be able to beat it. 2) and as a little follow up on that, what if you get to find monsters/bosses and you have no idea how strong they are because there is no visual health bar. I think it would put extra tension in the battle because you don' really realtime see how you are doing. You could perhaps give some visual indications in animations which also triggers the player to keep fighting because you are doing a good job. I must say it is really sooooo nice to hear the developer give arguments for choices that fully align with how I feel about certain elements. No transmog, and a big yes to Friendly Fire. It makes combat in multiplayer sooo much engaging and exciting. I can't wait to play and feel the game once there is a release for the console. I wanna participate and give feedback based on actual gameplay, not just on youtube videos! Keep it going guys @Moon, you really have something beautiful and progressive going on! Thanks for Ginger and the constant updates. Much appreciated
@56:19 I would argue heavily against Realm Modifiers and making the game be able to have more Survival aspects. I feel the difficulty is a core pillar of what makes the game fun and we need to respect the developers vision
Very much enjoyed watching the whole video, hope you get to do more interviews with him in the future (in the same format as this). Its nice hearing everything the dev has to say for a game im loving, very excited for multiplayer and future content (bosses:). Also some balancing, bow coneshot with focus gain with damage dealt is very fun but makes the whole game a cake walk, Enemys need more ways to punish ranged builds if they are gunna stay this powerful. (And daggers stunlock echoknight way to hard, mainly with the rune that does like 15 stabs in quick succession)
Great interview Brian. Crafting wise my solution would be to be able to 'reverse engineer' a weapon or armour piece to learn the recipes. But maybe have 'unique' equipment not be craftable.
His mention of ER works for both parties funny enough to me. base eldenrings world has more points of interests to me both lore and quest wise/items/neat things. Where as the DLC world is more top heavy at the start/shadow keep but then falls flat for me in terms of things to find/do. Neat areas sure but almost like its more empty.
Im only 26 minutes in but im enjoying this so much, im smiling like a douche. I guess im gonna watch this to go to sleep and have my brain do some work with it over night. Love the energy.
Everything seems to be headed in the right direction. The only thing I want more of is much more build diversity and ability synergies. The best part of ARPGs is the build variety. The worst part about Souls Likes (imo) is the lack of abilities, build variety and build depth.
In response to the question if all items should be craftable my response would be no. Just like Thomas stated in the interview about transmogging and that characters should be built I couldn't agree more. I recall in my earlier gaming days that you could tell the accomplishments of a high-level player buy their equipment. It's part of what drives you to get similar accomplishments. I agree that crafting should yield similarly powered gear but it shouldn't be the same as something earned a different way. I truely believe as a player I should be able to look at another character and it be a reflection of what they did and their accomplishments
I really wish they would add a marketplace so we can give more money to this team. I know people hate this idea but devs like them and Valheim deserve some kind of compensation especially with all their hard work and effort for a game that’s $20-$40.
dang! i meant to submit some questions in the discord but i didn't realize it was happening so fast ;p great to see you two together. edit: hooty hoot ey
The kids will help with farming, gathering and preparing food and potions; mom will do stuff trading and crafting, and dad will destroy critters :) Then a powerful sorcerer will come and capture the players near the house and threaten to destroy the house if dad doesn't return at the appointed time. Dad will make his way through unbearable obstacles and when he arrives, the sorcerer will set the house on fire, turn into a boss and they will fight. If Daddy loses, all players on the team will be burned and die a permament death with loss of save. Maybe from time to time in battle some players will be able to get free and help in the battle for a short while.
They promise multiplayer in the first update, and that was 7 months ago. I don't care how nice they were in this interview. Being nice and having a good attitude isn't a replacement for being honest about your product.
Hi there! I 100% don't mean to be rude, but I really think you should change the title and thumbnail for this vid. Both are vague and not altogether relevant to the content of the video. I really enjoyed watching this, but going into it the way the title was phrased felt really reminiscent of low-quality clickbaity youtube content and my expectations were way lower than they should have been... Like from the title and thumbnail alone there was absolutely 0 indication that this was an interview. Watching this gave me a ton of information and excitement about the future of the game and I thought it was a great interview, but this title and thumbnail set up the expectation that it was going to be way less than that. I've been watching your channel quite a lot since I started playing Wicked and I enjoy your videos a lot, but I just wanted to let you know that it feels like you're kinda shooting yourself in the foot here
@@GingerPrimeGaming I see what Thomas is saying about mixing armour types, but I'm sure there's a middle gorund? Mesh only mogs to Mesh, Plate to Plate etc.
I started the game this week and the game is too difficult for low level/gear players and extremely easy for highend players. They have to nerf bosses and extremely nerf builds and stagger/damage. Or they have to create diffrent boss/crucible/dungeon difficulties to chose from with higher loot in higher difficulties. So players can do some progress. And i litterally couldnt do my weekly quests with level 7, and barely could do the dailies. Which shouldnt be the case anywhere. Speaking of progress, the crucible gives 0 progress when dying, except for exalted gear. I can understand the vision of specific content for specific rewards and that youve removed exp from crucible which is retarded in my opinion, but i get the idea and vision. But you have to garantee progress in any gamemode, even if you die. Because in open world gameplay, you get exp, mats, loot and money. In crucible you get almost nothing and lose ur food to heal. Thats not a good way of investing ur valueable time in a game. We need to be realistic and forget those hardcore gaming fantasy, which is mostly just a fantasy and never works well in reality. Best solution would probably be random loot and mats given and a good set amount of silver for each completed chamber. Or only like 5 silver after each completed chamber, so you do atleast a good amount of money and then you could also use it to buy mats from the crucible vendor. And to make a boss difficult in crucible after reaching him through 8 levels and then die to him to then just replay everything again just for another boss try is actually insane. Like in darksouls people have like 10-50 boss tries, now imagine they need to clear the whole area again before they can do another boss try. thats insane and annoying. you can make the boss harder, but with a spawn at the boss or make the boss much easier for everyone. idk it needs a good solution. Like i said after doing some mega balances, because later builds just kill the boss in few seconds, while beginners cant even kill the boss at all. The artwork of the game is nice, but it doesnt mean that you should make all armors look horrible. I litterally look like a clown, no matter what. Thats a total shame and extremely poor design work. Either you should remake all armors, or make the new armor sets look cool. like badass plate armors or fokin cool rogue leather armors for example. And maybe you can add elemental effects on them if they have fixed elemental stats or if you put elemental stats on them all armors automaticly gain those effects, so you can actually tell by the armor if the player has an elemental build. But for real do some good looking armors, especially for the heads.... And maybe allow to transmog only for the same type of armor, so players always know what type of armor is used. And maybe allow armor color to be customizable. Remove falling from edges when attacking, like in eldenring. its extremely annoying, especially because of the movements during attacks and the pushing back of the enemies when you hit them. Adjust the backstab radius, because you cant tell where the back is when theyre fighting, because its turning with them constantly. And the animations are just too bad to tell. So the only and easiest fix would be to increase the radius drasticly to around 150 degrees behind his back. or fix the animations, which would be alot of work. And ofc remove the real time timers, i get whats ur trying to do, but like i said before, forget those hardcore gaming fantasy. Its never working in reality, peoples time is valuable and they cant just wait 4 fokin hours for something, if they only have like 2 hours of time to play. And that means that they can only benefit from sleeping buff once a day and when they die to a monster or fall down a cliff, they lose that buff. Make those timers for projects like 15 min, that gives you the cool feeling you want them to feel, so they have to wait for it and take a break or do other stuff and are excited when the project is done. Same for sleeping, it should insta heal you up and then give you diffrent levels of buffs, depending on how long you slept. like level 1 is instant, lvl 2 is 5 min, lvl 3 is 15 min, lvl 4 is 30 min and lvl 5 is 1 hour. thats it, nothing higher. so you can get the highest buff after doing a 1 hour break, so you can actually get that buff mabye multiple times a day. and those buff stay even after dying, otherwise it wouldve been a total waste of time. Also archievable in ur own home, otherwise youre force to sleep in the inn everytime, instead in ur home.......maybe add diffrent tier of beds, to match the same buffs from the inn. but it should be in the game now, to match the buffs from the inn, which are in the game already. same with diffrent tiers of work furniture to process materials faster. Material stack size in the stashes should be unlimited, so you have all the same mats in one stash instead of many diffrent ones, which also ruins ur housing. And you should able to accept all headbounties at the same time to do them at once, like the challanges. You asked if all items should be craftable. i think they should, but crafted items shouldnt be tradeable. So crafting becomes a big part of the game, instead of losing value and focus. And i think light weight needs some buffs like lower stamina costs or something, because most players just run heavy armor in medium weight. But the problem is probably the stats "increase armor %" and "decrease item weight %" with these stats you destroy the whole balance of the weight system. These two stats are extremely strong on plate armor and heavy weapons and extremely weak on light equipment. They make light equipment too weak in comparison, so the best and actually only fix for this balance problem would be to remove those 2 stats from the game entirely. maybe even from the crucible echoes. Then people will start to think about their equipment load again and do some serious choices. I probably forgot alot of things, but these are very important and needed changes and i hope it will be done, cause the game has potential if it gets alot more content, especially open world content.
I think the game is frustrating and boring currently and I heard nothing that indicates that it will improve any time soon. I feel like devs are hyper-biased towards serving the loud minority of hardcore-players and FORCING you to spend 100+ hours in the game. I know, that they do that because they wan to hack Steam-algorithms and get more organic traffic, but man... why can't I finish a premium game in a reasonable 6-10 hours and move on? Why does it have to be another live-service with real-time timers and daily quests?
Ginger is almost jumping out of his skin , he looks so happy to be doing this interview...great to see the enthusiasm 🙂

I've been watching your channel quite a lot since I started playing Wicked and I enjoy your videos a lot, but I just wanted to let you know that it feels like you're kinda shooting yourself in the foot here
Shame it only runs smoothly on high-end PC's. It's virtually killed the game.
If you have internet faster then 30mbs, you should check out GeForce Now as it's a really great experience playing it that way.
@@GingerPrimeGaming I don't mean the internet connection.
It is early access, so there will be regular optimization during development. What kind of system are you running?

Console release date? :(
What's the point of the (4K) in the title? I don't think anyone cares about that on a video like this.
totally going to buy this as soon as they remove the timers.
So his favorite word is right, right?
Right!
Who's going to pay for all this content after initial sales? Will you add cosmetics micro transactions. Or another type of payment system.
They've talked about it as an expansion model where that's where they make their money.
who you?

Sorry but I FULLY disagree to the attitude on Transmog, but whatever.
I know I'm in the minority when it comes to transmog, but it is what it is.

Please console release anyone??
After 1.0, which is likely 1-2 years.

Elden ring was first souls game for me, Open World helped me to ovecome fear of such games becouse I can outlevel stuff and than there was magic.
Wayyyy too long and with no substantial news
I think the game is frustrating and boring currently and I heard nothing that indicates that it will improve any time soon.
I feel like devs are hyper-biased towards serving the loud minority of hardcore-players and FORCING you to spend 100+ hours in the game. I know, that they do that because they wan to hack Steam-algorithms and get more organic traffic, but man... why can't I finish a premium game in a reasonable 6-10 hours and move on? Why does it have to be another live-service with real-time timers and daily quests?
Please, stop wasting time on a rougelike.
