I Started paintball in 1988. Me and a few of my friends played every weekend with splatmasters. After a few months we bought pumps. After a while we upgraded again to a Tipmann 68. After a few years I went semi pro. I got away from it for about 10 years after a bad divorce. But I missed it so much. I just recently got back in at 49 years old. Now my two sons and I just played my first tournament in 10 years. I loved the Story. Inspireing.
Man, one of the best reasons I love paintball sooooo much is the story that you just shared... I love hearing "paintball stories" especially the jibber jabber of those 1st times! For me, they never get old. Whether it's a 1st time recballer, 1st time tournament, or team practice. They are always told with such passion, excitement, and vigor.... simply, it's the best part of paintball for me. Thanks for sharing this!
Man this video brought back some awesome memories. I started the same way and eventually formed a team my Sophomore year in high school(2007). Lasted a few months and it all fell apart. Then 3 years ago old friend of mine started playing and convinced me to run a team. First tournament we played together was a local d4/5 3man at Crosshairs Lima and we got 2nd. Decided to go up to MSXL last year and out of four events we placed 2nd, 1st, 1st, and 1st and won the series title. Its not easy but thats the amazing part about chasing your dreams and goals. Thanks for video man, loved this!
i started my own team. and yes it is life changing. but at the same its tough. you need to ask yourself if you can handle everything that comes with starting a team. I started at rec and moved up to speed because i am just not into magfed and camo so speedball was more appealing to me. with motivation you can achieve anything. keep your dreams alive and always keep pushing.
I love the vids man, you are one of my inspirations to join a team and I’ve been cutting grass to fuel my paintball weekends for the past 2 years. Thank you so much
Scott I love this community it's literally the only sport I've played were regardless of the player level everybody is so down to earth and is willing to help out anyway they can
It is so funny I clicked on this video not just because I am starting a team, BUT I am in Phoenix right now heading back home to Detroit and I brought my gear to play at Wild West since the fields at home are closed, at least the outdoor fields. I had a blast at the field here in AZ.
My airsoft team just started playing tournament paintball. We've been playing since April and we took the #1 seed out of prelims our first tournament last week and ended up taking 4th out of 7. The fight for 3rd place was such a battle and we ended up losing. Still have a lot of work to do but paintball is so fun. We got picked up by a local team right away and play D5/D4/D3 teams and playing those higher Division teams in practice has definitely helped us out. The teams we were playing had definitely been playing much longer than us.
just getting back into paintball after 12 years. used to play xball PSP. just started back up a few weeks ago. love tournament paintball and I am going to push to get onto a team for next season
I played woodsball for a long time. My buddy took me to a local speedball field where I fell in love with the game. Not long after that, I made a team and we practiced with another team that was in the Amature division of a local tournament circuit. We convinced the local YMCA to let us use reballs in the gym and do drills all winter long. We would shoot them all, sweep them up, and wash them off in a 5-gallon bucket. When it came time to play our first tournament we signed up in the rookie division of an NPPL style tournament. There weren't enough rookies so we had to play the Novice teams too. We dominated everyone. It was absolutely awesome to hear people say, "did you see that kid snap shooting"?! With all the drills we did it really paid off and we stayed in the Novice division for good. That was 16 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. I love this sport and even though I cant play anymore I would love a chance at coaching a team.
Dude thanks for watching and the words of encouragement. This year has absolutely kicked my ass. I've lost so many friends and my financial stability. It's rough. But I'm still here.
Thanks for the story I seen this video come past my other TH-cam channel. I just been watching videos on paintball. Cause I really like it like I’m a basketball player in college (juco player) but with that being said I feel like I always been had a passion for paintball. And I’m wanting to get in beginner tournaments and what not . But this video was great thanks a lot!

I tried to start my own team twice. Life got in the way both times. So for now I'm happy getting to play once or twice a month. The first time was killed when my best friend shipped off to basic training when it was just him and I trying to start. Text him after basic when he went to his base and told him I had a team, and when his commitment was up I had gotten where he had failed and I was keeping a spot for him. Well it took so long after getting the 5 guys together to get off the ground with jerseys and tournament spots that it ended up disbanding before we even got to play a tournament because none of us could make the time commitment. Edit: technically I guess we did play one tournament together, but it wasn't as our team. The 5 of us made up half of a pick up team for a 10 man woodsball tournament at our local field. But I don't count it because we didn't play under our name
My biggest regret, is not staying with paintball when, I was younger , but the paintball scene in my area was nonexistent when I was in college. That said I just started back up in paintball, but at my age at 33 , I'm to old to play at even local tournaments .

@@WillBallForSoup Well hot damn, I am not the only one who remembers that winter break tournament in detail. I think we went by some stupid name like Team Manlaw, inspired by the Bud Light commercial. I was on the spyder and ion team. We officially apologize for calling your team easy. The young gun days will stick with me forever. I will never forget losing a YG tournament finals to a team called 7 Deadly Sins. Maybe we crossed paths at more events at BFG paintball too. Enjoying the videos man!
Hey scott this is my story. For my 12th birthday I went to play open play a paintball explosion with some friends and loved it to death. I after that 1 time I had some money saved up got a tip man gryphon a regular hopper and a 3000 tank. I think I played 3 to 4 more times at paintball explosion and one time we went to ohare paintball (I live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago Kendall/Kane country area) So I went with 1 friend who didn't really like the sport but he went anyway so we and him were just playing speed ball we played a few point by are selves and there was a youth team there and I got the best opportunity of my life to play with them that day. I played against the team captain and beat him I was in disbelief and they let me join the team. The couch ended up making a new team called the titans we never played a event but it was a 3 man team. The team lasted a few months we didn't play an event we had but I learned so much later the couch had to end the team cause he didn't have much time to couch us cause he was having a hard time holding a job. After that I got on a new team called Chicago tempest both of my old teammates join that team to witch was a plus the team had over 30 people on it at one point witch is crazy. We play about 5 events as a team are first one was a 5 man are team had 5 lines for that event that event was probably on of the best tournaments I had in my career there was only 5 teams that played that event and 3 of them was are teams lines the 2 other teams we beat the shit out of as a team and therein the finals there was are 3 teams at the end one of are lines made 3 third place. Then it was down to us two lines so are team was pretty much playing each other for the top spot. Im pretty sure it was a race to 2. Are line lost that point but the other 2 where some of the games in paintball I will ever forget. The 2nd point we won so who ever won the third point would win the tournament. I was out this point so I was watching from the sidelines are snake guy got like 2 kills until he got out. It turned into what I think was a 2v2 another player tried to run down are guys but got shot out and after he got shot he caused witch in a tournament is a minor penalty the other guy got called out and we only had 1 alive after that and we won the point with 1 body still alive it was probably one of the best moments of my life. We got first but the funny thing was is we all won cause are team had 3 line one went in third one went in second and one went in first witch is amazing I dont think I could have a better first tournament. Are team played a D4 event after that we got shit on cause we where all D5. The next one I didnt play all the older guy on the team went to Michigan to play MPPL where we didnt do good. After that event many people had left the team due to fees that eachplayer had to pay witch they did not agree with and I can agree the fees where kind of bullshit. They mad there own team called free parking witch I would say is one of the best paintball program/team in the midwest. After that where was only a few guy left on the team but we played 2 more event. We played another one in Michigan we didnt do so good but I did very good at that tournament on a personal scale but there was better teams and that happens sometimes. After that we play the 2019 Chicago open 3 man where we got shit on. After that the team broke up cause the team never had couches we just had people who would put us on a line and let us play. Also the team had trouble getting players. After that many people I knew have taken a brake from the sport but me and one other of my teammates but we took separate paths paintball wise he joined another team called free parking and his is at this point close to being D3 witch is great for him. But I decide to join a team called Rotten kids I played on that team meet amazing and I would say best paintball programs in the midwest. I played a tournament with them in march witch we got close to finals but could not pull it off. After covid came along and pretty much took paintball by storm and I did not play for about 1 to 2 months and are couch had to stay indoors alot cause he had a bad disease to where if he got covid he would have a very low chance of survival. But one of the older guys in the group helped up to get us on the field more and help keep rotten kids going we made the name Blastcamp kids aka BCK pretty much a rotten kids team the new couch my named Edmon is trying to teach us and get us better at paintball and teach us to get better witch he is doing a great job at that we are still going strong and we are getting better and now I am 14 almost been playing for 3 year and am grinding to get higher in the ranks and go pro If you are still reading thank you and have a good one.
lol i got watched for 4 months by the field team who refed sats and got invited to come on sun to play against the team, i went , was me and 1 other player who got told to come sunday, this is in the 90s, i knew the field owner and all the refs from sat games, apparently there were two teams merging, we started on woods field, basically they had me and the other guy go ahead and when i found the other team and turned to signal my team, i got lit up in their initiation both sides covered me in paint it was a set up lol. then the real practice began and i was in. nothing says welcome to the team like having 20 hoppers unload directly on you. but it was a memory for sure
Uhh. They may try and make money off you to pay for better players or pay for their paint prices. You really need a friend who understands your local scene. Someone who can show you the fundamentals without taxing you.
Actually there is a movie called SPLAT which has similar vibes. I was gifted a copy on VHS and I would love to review it one day but I don't have a vhs player.
Honestly, the Gun you have doesn't dictate how good of a player you are. Just practice solid techniques and the equipment will become an extension of you. The better you get with lower end/less expensive gear, the better you will be when you move up. Be humble, play smart, always have a good attitude, remember you're a part of a team, and play to have fun. Also, play Pump...a lot! That'll up your game faster than you think.
Hi my name is javion I’m 12 years old I played paintball on my birthday but I wanna play frl I live in Chicago I wanna know where to get a paintball gun
great video, im 15 and a new player with the same dream of being a big player, i've never played in a tournament before but i really want to. If you can that would be very helpful, thanks!
Hey! am from middle east and am trying to build a paintball busniess for beginners, do you know a good online store for paintball supplies like suits masks guns ? any advice will be great ,thanks.
@@OhThatsScope if there isn’t a team at your local field, look around online to see if there’s one. If not start your own and scout out people/ ask around for whose interested. Practice airball together, and work on getting better. Play an event if you do well, great! If not fix what you didn’t do right.
Should check out the Magfed paintball guns. They're quite realistic based off of real modern guns like the M16. I think that's what this sport really needs & to be advertised more. That paintball now has awesome looking guns now too. I think even the military would start using paintballs more as well instead of airsoft if they saw the new style of paintball guns in action. Based on them both only being able to load 20 clips, can basically create a realistic fight.
The NXL has a young guns division that debuted at world cup last year. That's a good place to start. You could also look for any local 3 man event that only allows new tournament players
So a delay is where you post up shooting off the break in a blind spot. And than run immediately to your primary bunker. Delay off the break in the blind and run to the god

Yo no cap that's my home paintball field I go to the seige every week dude I can't believe it!
The siege is where i started! After 10 years, I’m coming back!
You probably played me at team practice or some local 3 man than. Good to see you back bro
Hey man, I got a Etek 5 instead was that a good choice
I remember my first paintball team practice, I got my ass handed to me hard lol
So I got to a local paintball field where anyone can go if I ask them how to get into tourney style paintball they can help?
Uhh. They may try and make money off you to pay for better players or pay for their paint prices. You really need a friend who understands your local scene. Someone who can show you the fundamentals without taxing you.
Any tips on finding a team? I’m looking to get into speed ball and don’t know where to look for a team
They need to turn this into a movie😂
Actually there is a movie called SPLAT which has similar vibes. I was gifted a copy on VHS and I would love to review it one day but I don't have a vhs player.
Was that gun in the start of vid a 170r the one with the white grips ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Soup said I didnt comment on his last video. I feel attacked. Timmys wow Scott
Senpai has noticed you
@@WillBallForSoup gotta keep cool and not fan girl lol
I don’t have a good gun but I’m somehow gonna make it work just like you dude
Honestly, the Gun you have doesn't dictate how good of a player you are.
Just practice solid techniques and the equipment will become an extension of you.
The better you get with lower end/less expensive gear, the better you will be when you move up.
Be humble, play smart, always have a good attitude, remember you're a part of a team, and play to have fun.
Also, play Pump...a lot! That'll up your game faster than you think.
Hi my name is javion I’m 12 years old I played paintball on my birthday but I wanna play frl I live in Chicago I wanna know where to get a paintball gun
I'm ten and I want to start a paintball team. You think they would let a couple of 10 and 12 year olds play in a tournament?
The only thing I’m scared of getting shot up close I play every month but still scared to get shot up close
The siege is my home field!
Next NXL Chicago I'm visiting siege for sure

I have no one to play with and i've checked every online website i could find, if even possible, could u help lead me in the right direction to finding players and starting/joining a team? If you can that would be very helpful, thanks!
Hey dude. What City/State are you in? I have a pretty extensive network. I can poke around on your behalf.

Getting ready for my first event in October, division six three man. Hope it goes well.
howd u find players to play with
@@OhThatsScope if there isn’t a team at your local field, look around online to see if there’s one. If not start your own and scout out people/ ask around for whose interested. Practice airball together, and work on getting better. Play an event if you do well, great! If not fix what you didn’t do right.
@@OhThatsScope and keep working, I can look back and see my personal improvement increase drastically over 6 months.

Can u do a pt2 plz
I have a different vid dropping early evening tonight homie!
I’ve got my first tournament in 2 weeks after a 13+/- years absent from the game!
Bro I know you're going to do great. See if you can find someone to film it
Hows your third party idea coming along?
I plan on launching it when I get my first run of Soup headbands in!
Hey I’m 11 and I want to play where would I find tournaments for my age
The NXL has a young guns division that debuted at world cup last year. That's a good place to start. You could also look for any local 3 man event that only allows new tournament players
So you have an anime backstory
im trying to just find a place for me in the community and im only 12 :(
What reball place?
*hits 20k subs* “Brand new Cronus giveaway”
I said it before. It's going to be something you can at least play an event with and not be outgunned. Likely one of my blasters in the collection.
what is a "delay"?
So a delay is where you post up shooting off the break in a blind spot. And than run immediately to your primary bunker.
Delay off the break in the blind and run to the god
Does anybody know what the age limit of young guns is ???
10 years old generally 💪 as far as age cap it depends on the event, I've seen 16 and 18
what is a delay?
A delay is where you stay on the back line shooting off the break, but after you shoot for a couple of seconds you run somewhere. Delays are agg
First comment.
Bro u is lucky how your dad would buy you things what could I do to get money
ill take the 20k gun plz :) I dont have a gun.
lol wild west my home field
Bro same
what indoor field
Siege!
@@WillBallForSoup Just wondering if you go to the new location would love to get some tips form you. It would be great.
35 dollars a day ?!??!?!?!?!
What’s up with the sandbagger hate?
You really cant sandbag walk ons / recball so its on the refs to keep it balanced. Sandbagging a rookie event is kinda bullshit tho
Is that in az
Wild West in Mesa AZ
Big fish small small pond not bowl lol.
thats how my pops always said it I think you can say the cliche both ways tho
