I turned 70 this week and know some of the unpleasantries of long walks. But if I walk slowly enough, there is a clear threshold below which the sensation of "pushing" vanishes, and I am instead "being moved" along somehow. Truly pleasurable, and I wish I had learned it sooner. You don't have to be old to go slow. You've got the time. Life is a hell of a lot longer than you think it is.
No sooner than I said aloud, “Where’s Bob?” You said he airdropped you videos and then came “Bob’s day” 😄 that wasn’t a knock to you Jack, just that I love seeing both perspectives. You two together are 🔥 truly loving your videos!
on my hike in 22 I walked through the pasture before the beginning of the video at the gazebo and got hundreds of chiggers and some ticks on me in my altars everywhere was up all night at that outlet under the lights smashing my shoes together combing myself over picking them off with my headlamp, shit was hell. didn't sleep that night at all. set my tent up in that parking lot. ill never forget that night.
Beautiful crossing of water. I see the line at the crossing to hold onto. Everything is coming to life. Stark contrast to the ice & snow y’all started w/.
Great job. It feels like you 2 are in the groove. Nice weather certainly helps. Keep those boots headed north and thanks for always sharing your day. Your video day 66, popped up in my Google news feed !!!! Lol. You're doing fantastic
You got that right on the weight. I'm spending the next year collecting the lightest gear I can get, with a lot of practice hikes. I don't want to start the AT with more than 20 lbs.
@@sheilahenry7279we just use an AT map or State map, but when we have sections on Guthook we use that. We need to get the Virginia one, because we're going up there in May.
Glad Lick Creek wasn't up when you crossed. I've seen videos of hikers crossing it with water chest deep. Forest service needs to replace that. It has been out for quite a few years. I know it was out in '20.
@@Randee04 I'm a member of that club and help maintain that specific section. That is far far far beyond a trail clubs scope of work. The replacement of that bridge is actually going to be done by the Federal Highway Administration but no date for the work has been given. It may be years.
@@Randee04 Right, they do maintain the trail. I have talked with maintainers from the PATH trail club. Any bridge within the national forest on the AT is the responsibility of the forest service to repair or replace. That's what they told me.
Chesnut knob is an amazing shelter. When I hiked last year the picnic table was closer to the shelter and I camped just to the right of where the picnic table is now. The Shelter was full and my tent was soaked from the dew in the morning. Totally worth it for the amazing sun set. I commented before but I feel the need to reiterate my previous comment. I love this section of trail! Whenever I watch one of your videos I feel like I am seeing an old friend. ❤❤
When I stayed there 24 years ago lightning struck that shelter while we were sleeping in it! No one was injured but what a way to wake up lol. Keep pushin, y'all got this....see ya in PA.! 🙂👊🏻
Good day to you guys. Got them miles in... Like how you guys shared vid... But I don't. Understand why the capt. Didn't take shoe's. Off fir brook crossing... Good call bob.... Capt. How's the knee doing... Hope all is well ... Stay dry.
Thank you for the gorgeous views from Chestnut Knob!!! I love that valley of Burks Garden but hit that Ridge mid- day just as the rain started. ~Garmin. AT '23
Get a shot of the blue blaze that comes out in VA 606 near Weary Feet Hostel if you go there. I've never seen it , but everyone says it's there near the bridge.
Someone suggested it and I figured I better go ahead and take it before I get stuck with something lame. I had longer hair and wore black buff so I suppose I looked more like a pirate then than I do now.
🚶🚶♂️🥾🥾🥾🥾⛺🔥 morning Jack and Bob if you get the chance check out tera tracks she a trail runner going to try do the whole trail 41 days love watching all these people's videos
These are the people who will survive the apocalypse.
Always love the split perspectives on the day. Keep on rocking on 🤘

Another awesome video!! This section was beautiful. And the stars at night are just perfect!!

Nice the way you split the video with park Bob and you hiking separately. The sunset was amazing and beautiful at the end.
Way to ford that stream!
what a happily ever after sunset , thanks guys

Loved this video. Liked how you showed both your and Bobs day.
Best end of day music on your posts!
Nice sunset/star shots.
Good choice Bob.

Another great day guys! I follow along on the map(I’m a map geek) I could even see the pond in the clearing where you had lunch. 😊
What kind of map

$h!t$ gold bro keep it up we all pulling for ya two
Cool views from Chestnut Knob. In 20 I strung my hammock up inside and got a great sleep. I was the only one there that night.

It's a local trail club that maintains that area.

Was on this stretch of trail last year when I got caught in flash flood and severe storm Glade I made it cross lick creek before the rain stared
Nice views. Sunset was awesome. Good day of hiking..Safe travels.
Gotta change Bob’s trail name to Nostradamus. “Looks like a stairway to hell . . ..” Jack proves his point seconds later.
😂
Beautiful view!
Don't forget to stop and see me at Trents Grocery
😂😅 I guess you do trip, I'd be tripping every two seconds. Loved the two perspectives guys, great video!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Sending love ❤

Awesome beautiful vlogging, hiking and scenery, all the very best, health and happiness.
Awesome, love the camera work Bob.
Instead of where's Waldo where's Bob Ross he must be painting today a pretty little picture of trees

I can see why Bob Ross's trail name is Bob Ross, but Captain Jack how did you get your trail name?
I'm guessing because he looks like Captain Jack Sparrow
