    The fish eggs you are talking about could be mantis shrimp meat? I remember eating a char kuay teow from penang before and it came with mantis shrimp meat, and it looks similar to what you have there.

    those "fish eggs" you referred look like mantis prawns...

    YES! Penang food is better after all 🤤 Portion in Penang is often a let down tbh, but taste-wise is unmatched! More Penang food review pls!😁

      I’m from Singapore going to Penang soon alone. Actually I dun mind the small portion. The reason is I have list down at least 20 dishes to try. 1 dish like CKT if I wanna try a few stall how can I eat so much alone. So small portion is good for my case.

    • @rayvernrv
      @rayvernrv 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeaa that's true. I guess it's small for the locals, but tourists can try more variety of food. Have fun in Penang!

    Had it twice before and I don't recall there having fish eggs. Are you sure that wasn't mantis shrimp that you were holding up, Alderic? Cuz they definitely use mantis shrimps and that's part of the reason for the price.

      this is what I struggle with. next week's episode is probably one of the most well known char kway teow in penang and it tastes vastly different to this. who has the supposed authentic penang char kway teow taste.

  • @MightyPooPSTEAM
    @MightyPooPSTEAM ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with u that these needs more noodles. But perhaps adding more noodles also means they need to add more sauce, chili and whatever other stuff to to keep up the taste without diluting it. The latter is also a common problem in Singapore when ordering more than 1 portion or the uncle is cooking multiple portions at one time but the sauces were lacking for such a portion....end up the plate of mee is bland.

  • @esther340
    @esther340 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay nobody mentioned this, so I'm going to give a heads up to everyone who is intending to try this. The aunty who takes your order actually dips her bare fingers into chilli sauce to do a marking on your plate to indicate your order. Clearly there are better ways to take order but I'm not sure why they ended up with this lol. If that doesn't bother you then their ckt is not too bad but there are many ckt in Penang that is equally good or even better!

    Sorry to say, it's a BIG let down when I tried in July. Wok hei is average; cockles are the size of my pinkie nail and only 4 of them! The price is ridiculous at RM9 in Penang! Worst, I paid the premium of RM15, but the prawns are so-so size. Highly discouraged. Might as well pick any CKT stall, at least the price is fair.

      it's definitely worth it. but personally, I think about serving a reasonable portion to feed someone before I think about price or taste.
