What year model is your car?
I recommend putting a filter right after the power steering filler, this wasn't done on old cars back then but helps prevent a knocked out power steering. Its better for safety and lifetime

instead of getting rid of the container and lose up the hose, you could just use the pump to empty up the reservoir. if you just gonna put some new fluid in there.
and when changing the transmission fluid when you empty the fluid they say you should put it in first gear when the car is on to remove the access fluid that's in the transmission. but i believe that's a procedure for flushing the transmission more than just an fluid change

hei my 940 has got 343000 km and i have never change the fluid in my transmission and rear axel.. maby i shud do it. and where can i find the revers switsh on the tranmission??

That is the heart & soul of the car if tha is done,then you have a car for life, another suggestion would be the fuel filter & the coolant,that would greatly improve the ride, keep the car cool.

The coolant (and radiator) is already changed, not on camera unfortunately.
Fuel filter is coming, planning on changing some rusty fuel connections as well. 😊👍
I imagine the spark plugs, & fan belts are/ were changed,since that is a 4 cylinder engine, and after certain time the spark plugs, could leave a whole bunch of problems,,like hard starting, a lot of gassoline or petrol consumption, and the fan belts, could lead the car into overheating, damaging the engine, I don*t want to think, that the car had the original fan belts on, now that you have it, you are bringing that car up to date,eliminating any possible, problems,👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍

Hi there. Great video! Any reasons for not using the syringe you used before for the steering fluid? What I do in my 240 is use the syringe, take the fluid out, renew it. Turn the car on, going from top right to top left with the steering column and then I repeat the process. Thanks for sharing! Regards, Nacho.

Differential fluid also looked "new" on my old 700-series at ~200 000km but the ATF gear box fluid looked tired like the one you poured out. :)
Alright, do you know if it was the first fluid change done to the car?

How many litres do you recommend flushing out the diff with?
If you want to do a complete flush just do a change, drive for a couple of miles then do a change again. 👍
1:15 Why? I didn't get that. Do you mean make sure your filler plug is not stuck before removing the drainage one and that's why you can't get the transmission filled up or something else?

Don't know exactly on the 940.
On my car it's held on by a couple of short M8 screws.
I suggest you go to the nearest Volvo dealer, they can get exactly the screws you need, they shouldn't be to expensive. 😉👍

@@ejoautovideos yup, yours is like mine and have the fill plug almost above the drain plug, this is the revised version and should take around 1,6 L, earlier version (the one the US got) had the drain plug in line with the casting webbing, a little lower. Peoples still overfilled them to 2 US qt, which is around 1.8 liters. I've never heard of anyone busting seals from overfilling their M47... They tend to be leaky by nature ahah. I got the same amount of metal shavings at 280 000 kms but mine had been flushed at 200k...
Good to see you've put 75W oil in them, not like peoples who put ATF in them...

Nää det blir alldeles för lite med 1liter tyvärr.
Det är lite dyrare med växeloljor, men det är så sällan man behöver göra byte, så slår man ut det över tid blir det en väldigt liten kostnad. 😊👍

I noticed that your clutch is squeaking too, let me know if you found a good way to fix this permanently. I have to grease the rubber bushing in the clutch pedal every 3 months and it pisses me of 😂
Hehe yeah, one of those small problems, but annoying nevertheless..
isn't it better to drain at the radiator and fill at the dipstick? There is a lot of fluid still in the torque converter and radiator/lines.
This is a manual transmission.

Both will work, if you already have atf fluid I would probably go with that 👍
Surprised you did not change the transmission filter as part of the service. Also is there a power steering filter? Mercedes has a filter in reservoir and should be vhanged. Car is a great project. Well done.
No filter on this transmission, this is a manual gearbox.

Har du någon tanke kring om du ska köra kanalen på engelska eller svenska? Egentligen funkar vilket som eftersom du pratar bra engelska och inte "hello, EJO from swiiden heer", men hade varit kul att ha lite fler svenska kanaler. Man blir ju som lite leds på allt amerikanskt wejlande emellanåt. Eller var det bara denna videon som var på engelska?

Kör faktiskt både och, men mest på svenska.
Denna volvo serie är bara på engelska, vilket jag tror var ett bra beslut då den hittills har fått över 800 000 visningar.
Min tankegång är helt enkelt så att jag försöker förutspå vad som kommer generera mest intresse Svenska vs Engelska, så kör jag på det. Lite okonventionellt kanske, men jag kör på den taktiken hehe 😝
