the legato steam wand seemed WAY faster, almost instant. That's super impressive. Looks like a really good option, especially for the budget. Drip tray does seem a bit small.. but still looks more than my Gaggia's aftermarket low profile drip tray. I'm curious how much space under the group head has for cups on the legato.
Breville's support is absolutely terrible. I had a claim open for my old smart grinder pro, ended up having to buy a new burr while I waited for them to forever "update me" on my ticket.. claiming backorders.. tho I could easily buy the exact part I needed. So glad I switched to DF64 gen 2.. had my power button go, and they immediately sent a replacement button. World of difference grinder and support.
Hi! I've been using the same machine as the legato for about half a year now and for me the drip tray is completely enough. The space between the group and the tray is 12 cm with naked and 8 cm with the double spout portafilter.
Thanks for the portafilter size comparison! Ordered the Legato and also bought the Breville barista touch impress too! Both are on sale at a decent discount right now. As a side note, I can't seem to pull a great shot on the box stock Breville on auto. I will try single dose grinding like you do to find the sweat spot! Always love the honest reviews of all the gadgets we buy in hopes of improving the results of the extraction!!😅
Hoon, you should steam 8oz of refrigerated milk to 140 degrees and time it on both. My BBE takes approximately one minute and ten seconds.
Hi Hoon,
I think there was a few mistakes in your measurements. I do not think there was a major difference among 54 and 58mm , because it is only 2 mm in radius. So, to do the measurement more accurate You need to weigh beans before and after the grinding, because could exist 1 to 1.5 grams due to retencion inside the grinder. Another thing You do not adjust the flow rate in Legato. So it's operates at around 13bar much higher pressure than 8 ~ 9 bar from Breville therefore in Legado coffee runs much fast. By the way, Legato is a very fine machine a Silvia killer. Thank you for your videos.
Cheers
That was about 13 bars on the Turin. Is the OPV adjustable or "moddable" like the Gaggia Classic?
A 51 minute video? Holy crap. The Legato is being promoted as the "Gaggia Killer' so why is everyone comparing it to the Breville?
If only Breville machines used 58mm portafilters across the board
Great video, thank you!!!
I use sey coffee on my pro. I love it. I grind with the grinder. It works great. I love my coffee from it.
Nice Test! Thank you :) so upgrading doesnt make sense to me. I germany wie have to pay maybe 430€ for 83mm ssp. So i can buy 64mm cast and mp for 470€ and can change every few months :)
Like to see more of this cast vs another burrs for filter:)
The Legato seems to slide around a lot. Like when you put in and take out the portafilter. Definitely larger portafilter is a nice feature.
Turin "Legato" "APEX or Rancilio Silvia?
As the Legato does not have a built in grinder, to compare it should be using a external grinder like the DF64. Compare to the Breville Pro and its built in grinder. That is how each would likely be used by a home user. The more he uses the Turin, the more I like it. I am too invested in Breville 54mm today, but in the future if the Breville fails, I might change.
Lots of paint chipping on the tray of your Pro
Excellent! As always .
