I recognize this video as being taken by the zipline near Umauma Falls in Hakalau, three miles up the road from where I live, which received one of the highest rainfall totals in the event, 48 inches in 40 hours.
@@barackobama9552 Yes, it was insane amount of rain. Never seen anything like it in my life! BUT, fortunately the island experienced relatively little flooding since everything is on an incline here and the rainwater tends to rush down our gulch streams in massive torrents. Anywhere flat did get flooded, including our basement!
My dad is in H.P.P. and said the same. But honestly, I think it goes like that all the time there. I remember visiting and it rained. I'm used to monsoon storms, so I get heavy rain. I thought... It rained so hard in Hilo I looked at my dad and said something like "are we o.k. here?" He laughed and laughed. It rains so hard there even a gigantic chunk of pumice can't soak it all up...
Yo that looks pretty cool actually, 20 inches in 24 hours, I can't even imagine, I live on the oregon coast and if we even get the occasional 3 inches in a 24 hour period the whole area floods up...
Thanks Eric! I also try no to judge people. Many are having fun on the comments criticizing this man (and colourful humour is always good) yet I sincerely hope this banter is not misconstrued as any more than harmless fun. Happy Stacey has very smart chickens lol ;) Thanks all for your comments. Keep them coming.
This is why you need to pay attention to the weather mauka of your location when you go hiking, that can happen even if it is dry where you are if it was raining at a higher elevation. Inland tsunamis have killed a lot of people.
Rain is amazing and deserts struggle in many ways, yet too much rain, be careful! I love Australia by the way and been a few times but mostly the East Coast: Cairns to Adelaide.
Definitely some Hawaiians and hi to all of them (was very well received there - see my Hawaiian culture series here th-cam.com/play/PLY-jU6UWKxzkpOps-v_ZZjr4kijqlN0uP.html) but people from all over the world are commenting. North & South America, Europe and Asia. Cheers!
I was saying the same thing he old and he rather go on a bridge to photo water rushing down. And then the bridge gave way. How dumb. Don't he like his life. You get to this lovey age dont throw away your life foolish sir. Be careful and cautious.

48 inches??? I cannot imagine what that would do to the infrastructure of where I live. The most rain in a day I have experienced is 4 inches

what people will do for a stupid photo is mind numbing.
Plus he was filming vertical, so annoying
Happy you caught that too lol
It is dragged by the current and then you have to risk personnel to get a stupid that never had a pool as a child👎
Can't remember the last time we had rain like this

Which bridge/stream was the latter part of the video filmed on? This is incredible.
Glad you enjoyed. The first part is near the boiling pots of Wailuku River and the second near Umauma Falls. The bridge crosses Umauma Stream.
Hawaii seems to have EVERYTHING!
Haha yes we were in for a treat:)
“Old Man River” is ANGRY!
Not even a raised truck would save you in that. A lot of water. Man. And, to think, I used to live in this state!
Never seen such power of nature before!

Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed!
Let's stand right here where the flood water is washing up over the road. Nothing can possibly happen to us. It's all just something to laugh at.
That's what they all say!!! Until it's to late. Brah!
I really wanted him to get washed away - -
Just waiting for the bridge to disappear beneath his feet..
Life is dangerous. LAUGHTER is good, although it can always be the Last Laugh

What area you filming?
Near Umauma Falls in Hakalau, HI. North of Hilo.
I’ve seen flash floods because I live on a river that floods a lot but that is crazy
Yes, it seems to have been one for the records. Quite intense!

Yeah! Crazy!
They have firm bridge. Here in Philippines if that current of flood for sure our bridge collapse. Substandard materials.
