It really isn’t a “one or the other” situation. This video is a great example of why owning both examples covers most of your tonal bases

One tone that I like more than any other is a Gibson in the middle position with the volume at 10 and the tone nobs both turned down directly to 0. Tone bliss, unbeatable.

A strat trem can go up when pull on the trem. The issue with yours is you have it decked sitting flush against the body. You can loosen up the springs in the back to make it float. It wont be as stable as a floyd rose but will be able to do most of the same things. Most people deck their trems to avoid accidentally pulling them sharp.

What a great video! I have a 120th anniversary Gibson SG and 60s Epi LP. The only name I’ll pay for Gibson on the headstock for is the SG. I just recently got a Squier bullet to see about the differences and it’s actually a cool little guitar. I love all things Gibson but the strat sounds really good. I am planning on another SG standard, and the one I’m looking for goes brand new about just under 2k. Gonna sub too. This was just an interesting one all around and you play really well too!

Funny how this video gets recommended to me, I started teaching myself how to play guitar ~2 years ago. I got a Squire Bullet Strat with a Vox amp for 90€ off ebay and it's been amazing to play on. Last month for my birthday my friends got me an Epiphone SG Special P90 because I've been playing so much Black Sabbath. I obviously don't have any real frame of reference yet but from my limited experience, the Strat and SG are the coolest guitars (Even the cheap Squire and Epiphone versions)!

Neck dive isn’t a function of body vs neck weight it is more of a design and parts placement issue. The neck is not heavier than the body and all the electronics.

Im a newer player, damn near a complete noob. My current guitar is an entry level Ibanez. Its only a 300 guitar but at my particular skill level, it does the job. Id be lying though, if I said i dont like sitting around and dreaming about breaking out that shiny new drean guitar.
Tbh though, Im honesty leaning more towards Fender because Gibson is way to expensive to be so fragile. Ive never actually played one, but i keep hearing so much about headstocks being broken. Id be absolutely SICK if i went out and spent a couple grand on something and be terrified of it being broken.
Im trying to concentrate on learning to play what i have for now and earning a chance to upgrade. I opened up a second checking account and im currently puttinf back 25.00 a week for my guitar fund. After 52 weeks, thats 1300.00 and im strongly considering getting a brand new Fender Jagstang from Sweetwater

Fender guitars at 25 1/2 scale length are the dirt bikes of electric guitars. Gibsons at 24 3/4 the shorter scale length are the road bikes. A fender will survive a hell of a fall. Gibsons are notorious for headstock breaks. Gibson are "easier" to play when hand muscle strength is a weakness.

I have literally no tuning issues with any of my Gibsons after doing this on the ones that were tight. Some of them have never had tuning issues out of the box but the ones that do get bound up in there just need to be slightly opened and lubed.

SG for so many reasons, but the scale length feels so much nicer to play in drop tunings, it looks better, and people complaining about neckdive need to try a Gibson, it's the cheaper Epiphones where they refuse to weight match the necks to the bodies at the factory giving SG's a bad rep, if you go SG - you must go Gibson.
