    Valorant was the first game where I realized there's a MASSIVE divide between generations of players. Those of us who didn't grow up with every single bit being monetized and didn't play mobile games are the ones who are fine with boycotting a game for predatory monetization. But the younger ones are just completely lost in that regard cause they never knew a world in which video games weren't monetized to hell. Really, really sad to see.

    • @DisDatK9
      @DisDatK9 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      And what bums me out is that the division is almost uncrossable. It has been so normalized by this point that the idea of boycotting (to remove monetization) is absurd to younger people. It's impossible to see that the grass is greener on the other side if they can't even recognize the fence separating the two.

      I personally was fine with paid DLCs cause yeah companies do gotta make money and mass content isn't cheap. But the second these games started adding paid dlc with less and less content then putting the extra content in separate paid packs...I started calling out how dangerous this road is gonna go; and sadly...I was pretty much right. I just didn't see it getting this bad this fast...

      @@camolot2102you are obviously entitled to your own opinion so don’t take this as an attack but I personally really enjoy it. Fallout 76 is great, but only because it’s fallout. Once human does everything fallout 76 does (besides being fallout) better, while combining elements from destiny and ark and I personally think that’s super interesting and fun. There are certainly complaints to be made though. PvP is ultra unbalanced in its current state and having to find all of the rift towers in each location every time you want to progress gets a little repetitive. However, I think the gameplay loop provides a perfect mix of grinding, progressing through and interesting story, and allowing the player to do whatever they want i.e. decorate or socialize with other players. In short i just think once human is a few improvements away from being one of the best mmos we’ve gotten in recent years.

    It fully make sense why you can buy koen with IRL money. This game has no wipe, no real story progression. It is a PVP game in its core. Generally there are 2 types of players: players who play a lot and players who don't have a lot of time to free. The koen purchase is made possible so people who don't have time to grind koen in-game can use their IRL money to equalise the fights with players who grind the game daily. It allows people with tight schedules to pick up the game any time they want.
    As far as player driven economy go, that is not entirely how it works. The selling price of some items are still determined by how much you can sell it to the NPC. Also because there's no insurance system, loot gets lost WAY more often than in a game like Tarkov does so it balances out market nicely.
    Can't afford T5/T6 armor? There's always ratting and leg meta. Not realistic? Pretty sure in real life you'd wait in a hole for 3 days/weeks/months/decades to kill your enemy. Or you could just get a mosin or SKS on the cheap loaded with T5/T6 ammo. 1 to 2 shots is all you need. Get good.

    It's not just currency you can buy. You can RENT bigger secure containers, bigger key fobs, you can outright buy entire T6 kits for real money. If you pay for the games premium you get significantly better drops from mobs and chests than someone who otherwise didn't buy premium. The gameplay is very well done, and the developers who aren't allowed to make choices did a fantastic job making a fairly polished game. Their talent is wasted working for this company. Also, a lot of people are defending it because their favorite Tarkov streamers are supporting the p2w stuff. People like Landmark, JesseKazam, SoStrange, etc., etc., every Tarkov streamer running drops that boycotted the Tarkov devs for the Unheard Edition are ignoring, timing out, or outright banning people from their chat channels for even talking about the p2w aspect.

      No one in their right state of mind would even touch f2p, the term "f2p = p2w" was literally still common years after that changed and their monetization and overall earnings is what influenced mtx coming to paid games, being able to play it without being extremely left behind is a rather modern understanding of f2p we got.

Aka letting you buy better guns, ammo and gear, or AKA PAY 2 WIN.
    Lesson learned with these deceitful devs, Delta Force devs also claim "No P2W" but what do they as Chinese/Over Seas devs consider "Pay 2 Win"??? Cause apparently being able to buy secure containers/key containers/storage space, and Koen/In game currency for CASH isnt considered "P2W"..... hilarious situation we find ourselves in as gamers today, people will buy into it all as well, whales gunna whale and say "oh its not P2W you still get head eyes" yea but its still P2W. Hey BigFry i have been a long time suscriber and this is just an alt account since i might get flamed. i liked your videos and all however I've been playing Arena Breakout for quite a while now, and I've been able to make plenty of in-game money without spending any real cash. Success in this game isn't locked behind a paywall if you play strategically and put in the time, you can progress just as well as paying players.
    The items you can buy don’t overpower the game or ruin the balance for others; they’re more about convenience, especially for new players. It's not about pay-to-win, but more about making the game accessible in different ways.
    Plus, we need to remember that monetization supports free-to-play players and keeps the servers running. Without it, we wouldn’t get updates, new content, or even a functioning game, so I don't see it as forcing people to pay but rather as keeping the game alive for everyone.

    The only way this game survives is with gear score based matchmaking like DaD or Dungeonborne, but they have F2P P2W Chinese developer brain. Matchmaking like this gives way to payers not finding games quickly, and you gotta cater to your whales. I'll enjoy the game for now, but I don't expect it to be playable in a month or two. When all F2Ps quit and no one wants to touch it based on reputation. No new players, no normal players, only P2W kits in matches, dead.
    Update after spending some time on the discord: This game will die because of infinite instantaneous inflation. A 120k scope I had day 1 was 189k today :) I tested for max prices, and I could have posted that scope for 800k. Actual max price was 960k but the UI bugged out. So the second a really wealthy, really bored gamer CEO decides to inflate hell into that market, that'll be it. I could spend 200$ on a couple millies, buy all of that one popular scope in meta builds, and then repost them at max price. All it takes afterwards is for people to continue posting at that crazy price and the economy is dead.

Whats wrong with everyone is their misconception of F2P games Its not meant to be completly free how do you want a good online pvp game to survive with no funds? The dev need some sort of funds somewhere and their need of money is only judged by how the gameplay varies based on how a paid player vs Non paid player interact in a fight. I'm sick of people defending the free-to-play model. The game needs microtransactions because it's free-to-play and it needs to make money somehow? THEN DON'T F*CKING MAKE IT FREE-TO-PLAY! The entire model exists entirely to trick gamers into spending more money on a game then they otherwise would have. The premium model have worked for decades. If a game is not worth spending money on then it's not worth your time in the first place. If you really want to support the developers beyond buying the game and any DLC then maybe they could include some way to donate to the developers in the game.
    The problem with microtransactions is that they make the game worse by simply existing. Gamers need to be incentivised to spend money in the game, and the gameplay suffers as a result. Cosmetics-only isn't any better, because to me it matters how my character looks. If I don't enjoy my time playing I'm not going to like the game, and I'm not going to enjoy my time playing if I have to pay in order to look good.

    Bro I’ve been thinking this for the longest time (especially regarding tarkovs transactions). Pay to win goes so much deeper than paying for stuff that directly effects combat (i.e buying a gun that deals more damage, which allows you to directly win gunfights). For example, paying for more space in your secure container allows you to carry more meds and ammo that your opponent doesn’t have and will likely allow you to win. As a previous owner of the standard tarkov edition, who was then gifted the version below eod by a friend, the difference between the two versions is night and day, and the “non combat related transactions” made combat so much fucking easier. Same with paying for ammo, stash space and in game currency. In one way or another down the line it gives you an advantage over other players who didn’t spend the money, it does effect combat and makes you more likely to win. Even if you can grind out those advantages in game and not pay, it doesn’t change the fact that one person has to work for it and another person doesn’t. I’m so sick of people not thinking past the surface level, trying to make themselves feel better than everyone else by chalking it up to “skill issue” and defending this bullshit. Finally someone gets it.

    I think you have some good points. Me personally, I don't mind but only under certain confines.
    You touched on it early on, how us mobile gamers just grow used to the P2W aspect. Something arena breakout does it, as I'm sure you've seen, separate the game play into tiers. Tac Ops, lockdown and forbidden zone. All requires a higher level of gear than the next. What I've noticed though is that the game itself operates a sliding scale for your match making between tiers. What I mean to say is, if you go into tac ops and run a decked out F2000 with T5 gear, then that's who you'll probably be matched with. Knowing all of that means that, so what if have the gear, you are gonna lose it quick as heck. I personally believe the devs have perfected this because certainly people have used money to buy the thermal scope. However I've NEVER been killed by it. I'm an S1 player with no balls and play pretty cheap most of the time.
    Second to note. Look at COD mobile. Unless you consider paying for a once a season new weapon battle pass release a leg up, you can't buy skill there. Unfortunately look at how spammy their eco system is with the skins. That's the alternative. I don't like that. So I think they are going perfect!

      So both of us played and had a great time, but what…this looming unseen presence of the “possibility” that I might die to someone that swiped their credit card is going to kill my fun?

    On the bright side it’ll reduce RMT, why buy from a sketchy website when it’s built in? And it doesn’t reduce the value of loot, if anything stealing a good kit from someone who sucks at the game that they bought with real money sounds fun.

    People said the exact same things about Gray Zone Warfare when I complained about paying 100 dollars for a better starting stash and shit like that, just like Tarkov, but people said it wasn't p2w. Game's dead now. I swear some of the ExtShooter fanbase is just braindead because they want something to replace Tarkov so bad they'll get rammed up the ass for it by any developer.
    "Pay-2-Grind-Less" is the dumbest fucking term I've ever heard.

    • @Unknown_Genius
      @Unknown_Genius หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pay 2 Grind less is how loads of mtx have worked in the past and will work in the future.
      And let's be real now, Gray Zone would even be a good game if you like insertion styled games like that - well, if it literally wasn't unplayable and the quests weren't MMORPG styled quests that just absolutely don't fit into the game for that matter.
      Still hate it that I can't refund it because it ran for longer than the refund window goes and then just kept crashing my PC suddenly with lags after the forceful restart that only got fixed with another restart - and yes, that's literally on the games level, nothing else can recreate it except for that game and nothing is broken. Now Im stuck with a game that I technically do like (same as my group) but is unplayable due to varying reasons for each one of us with the issues for all of us funnily enough started around the same time.

    • @Variapolis
      @Variapolis หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Unknown_Genius I played it for 2 hours and refunded it because IMO it was quite shit. But the bigger thing that irked me was people saying "at least you don't have to pay 200 dollars to play the game" completely skipping over the fact that it was 100 dollars anyway just like EOD was and Gray Zone already made several mistakes that Tarkov did.

    • @Unknown_Genius
      @Unknown_Genius หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Variapolis Yeah, how people acted about it was insane honestly.
      I never liked tarkov to begin with, we primarily were looking for something more PvE styled with actual insertions from a base in that area of games, so theres not that much else honestly.
      But yeah, since it doesnt really work, there's also just no way to not regret the purchase, as not being able to play it due to the technical issues they fully ignored all the time is just a full no go.

    So I am not a big fan of P2W really. But think of it this way.
    You get to be a content creator and spend a lot of time playing, you get gear and funds by doing so.
    The regular working class players, who have earned what you would call "disposable income" who have earned that from their job have every right to buy what they want.
    Dont blame someone who has disposable income, not their fault, blame the game devs. And dont forget, this is a free to play game, and its a company, so they need to make money...

  • @feardafish
    @feardafish หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    It literally breaks the whole point of the game, which is to fear losing your gear, and grind to get it. The whole economy is gonna be janked from people selling stuff they bought with real money. Its like tarkov, with sanctioned real money transactions.

      1. you have to actually complete a raid to sell items you buy from anywhere
      2. they heavily control the amount of each item in the in game market and so control the price, for example, armour wears out quite quickly and not many high tier armours can be got from contacts. If theirs too few, they add more that day, too many and they don't add as much

    Yall can moan about it all day but here’s the thing, this game I think, was intended to be a game like tarkov for people who enjoy gaming slightly competitively but who also work full time jobs who don’t have the time to grind multiple hours a day. I like it because I can jump right in and get some decent guns and play with my friends after work. If you’re more of a grinder and have the extra time then yeah definitely this isn’t for you.
