  • Mark and Alan Davis Farms begin their cotton harvest in Faceville, Georgia. They are harvesting using two John Deere 9976 cotton pickers picking 2.0 bale to the acre cotton. The cotton is being moved by a New Holland 8970 tractor pulling a Crustbuster boll buggy. The buggy is carrying the cotton to two Harrell Equipment module builders. The module builders are being run by a John Deere 8300 and a 6150M. They also are running a CaseIH MX235 pulling a Amadas 4 row stalk puller/chopper.

Great video. Have a question--do JD basket pickers only raise/elevate the dumping side of the basket when unloading? My neighbor ran green and I never recalled seeing his machine dump at an angle like this. I had red machines and the entire basket lifted "equally" before activating the side chain unload. Is this how you must dump every time with green?

Yes. They only raise on one side.

I didn't know anyone was still running them 9976 pickers. They were good for their time when they came out.
