I prefer without the shield

I'm so impressed with how the LS-208 is with your voice as is, but with the shield I thought it focused your sound a bit more in a good way! For voice over and when people have a sub optimal space I think that shield could be a plus with a Mic like the 208. I tried one like a Kaotica eyeball myself with several condensers and it made the sound way to muddy for me, but I think with the background rejection the 208 has it may just not have the same problem

The 208 is certainly smoother, but my ears actually prefer the 416. (My ears are getting older though, so it may well be compensating for age). 416 certainly cuts through any mix. For something like audio books, I'd prefer the 208.

LS-208 loves your voice for sure. I'm listening through my Beyerdynamics and there is the slightest bit of clarity I heard on the Sennheiser and then you used the high pass on the Lauten and suddenly I couldn't hear a difference at all! That mic is so versatile and the flat setting is such buttery goodness. With the price difference the Lauten wins for me!

you are going through the same thing that everyone tries a 208 goes through. You want to like it cause its a mic. But its hard to love it because its NOT a 416 or Neumann. But then you use it more and more and you start to notice that you are starting to love it and you cant stop it. Then one day you are just like, "I love this mic and I dont care what any mic snob says. It's just GOOD." Thats where you are. It's undeniable unless someone's a pure snob and just refuses to be objective. nice vid.

Okay after listening to them back I'm even more impressed by the LS 208, sounds like someone took the MKH416, removed the sibilance and added some texture to the low end.

I just bought it overnight, but I'm returning it. Sounds good on v shaped headphones like your hifiman and my beyerdynamics, but does not sound good on balanced/neutral headphones. The mids sound too honky or something. Also, in MY booth, it's a bit too boomy. Maybe I'll try it again when I have a full room treated. You keeping yours? Mkh still the goat for me, like tlm 103 as well.

Getting the MXL Genesis FET may be near impossible today, so I would suggest getting a Lewitt LCT 440 instead if you liked the MXL's sound as it sounded pretty similar in my testing.

hey jolly! First off love the song lmao. I was wondering if you would ever be open to sharing the settings you use for your mkh-416? I watched your review and comparison videos with it and was just curious since you didn't say in them. Obviously eq will be at least slightly different for everyone, but I like the way you always seem to bring the presence of the mic forward with yours.

really like the videos and wish I found them before I purchesd my mic, I got the lewitt 540s. my room is not ideal and has alot of reflections. what would you recommend for singing vocals and rapping. thinking of the sm7b when I watched your video on it compared to the NTG5. great voice btw

I prefer the lct 440 pure on your voice personally. Because of your low register and warm voice it needs a little bit of shimmy on the high end for clarity and BOOM god tier.. well at least for my ears

People keep saying to not get this, but the midrange magic this mic has is incomparable. It just sounds like it was made for the human voice
