- On Rock Rods Episode 96 we are taking you to the Southern Rock Racing Series 2020 season opener at Northwest OHV park in Bridgeport, Texas. The Best Rock Bouncing Buggies drivers have been working on their Rock Bouncers all off season for this very moment. Some have done only minor changes then you have the Tim Cameron Menace Rock Bouncer which is a completely new build featuring IFS. This isn't anything new to the sport as their have been IFS rock bouncers before but this one has a lot of money in the technology to make it just the right mix of Bouncer and Trophy Truck. But this season it is still anyone's game as they chase the Rock Bouncer Racing 2020 points championship. The question is who are you rooting for? Will Tim Cameron take the win this year or will someone like Matt Schuessler in the Bad Influence buggy or maybe even a member of Team Bacon Racing win the rock bouncers hill climb points championship? Wow! After watching this a couple of times, Tim did the damage himself. That engine has soooo much torque, it wants to pick the left front tire up and twist the whole chassis clockwise. If you watch close, you can see that is what flipped him on the first hill. Front left a little light, blips the throttle and just throws it on its head...
well the sway bar was bent so that didn't help
Fordzilla sounds like it's rabid and has been living on race fuel and bath salts! Love that buggy!

Congrats Busted Knuckle ! Definite contenders this season. T.C.'s buggy seemed off balance. I think I remember Tim saying they had it balanced within 15 lbs or so. I think he needs to get a few Big Mac's into him to even things up. It looked like at the start of hill two, the torque of that motor wants to lift the left tires off the ground.
According to Tim, he said it's more like 27 lbs. it sure seemed to be an issue on this run. Big Macs would definitely help.

UncleManuel the sway bar on the rear was twisted making it want to lift the front tire. That’s why it was doing that.

I think if you could build one of these rigs that could steer better it would save a lot of time in these races. After watching a bunch of these videos I think Cameron’s advantage is somewhat in being able to negotiate the corners at a decent speed.

I'm hoping Timmy gives this ifs rig a chance unlike money maker, it should give this season a interesting twist with 3 ifs rigs vs solid axle rigs
He will be back at the next race with it, just needs a few minor tweaks. Too bad I doubt we see 3 IFS rigs all at the same race.

Cameron failed to steer into the roll. He steered left and rolled right.
well steering right would have put him off course into a tree, it's easy to know what to do from outside the vehicle

I love rock bouncers and I love the sound of V8's, but I just wish the drivers would hold their throttle pedal steady when driving over flat ground, blipping it constantly makes them seem like nervous first timers and is unnecessary.
Other than that, jolly good show.

Menace looks a little passenger side heavy with that engine placement? Off the line, in the air, in the turns, under heavy throttle, and when pointed at the camera man!!! Mental note, film Menace from the drivers side.
He bent the rear sway bar on run one, that is why it lifted the tire on run 2, it is withing 50 lbs of being evenly weighted

Tim Cameron's engine needs to be installed to the left side of the engine bay to stop engine torque lifting the left side of the car up.
lol, his sway bar was bent, the buggy is actually very balanced weight wise

Why does it seem like some guys are going painfully slow? I know they have to avoid breaking things but these machines are built like tanks. I’d like to see people really pushing the limits of these things and have multiple guys battling for tenths of seconds instead of tens of seconds
the top ten are battling for tenths of seconds, did you see the leader board? Not all of them are the same build quality and suspension

Why is the camera shaking so bad on the top of the hill
It could be the cold 20mph winds or the fact that I was having to back up after they made the turn to make sure I didn't get ran over, I invite you to stand at the top of a long hill with 1000hp coming at you and see how steady you are.

So what's the catch here? Why are 3/4's of these guys not really trying all that hard? They have some kind of mix up later in the competition where doing good early is bad or what? Very confusing. Or is there just a crap load of newbies who don't really know what their doing?
Not everyone has the same driving ability or an equal vehicle
