My neighbor raised Homing Pigeons when I was a boy and I would help him. We would take them 5 miles from our house and turn them loose and they would beat us home. It is a fun hobby!

#3 Is not illegally imported. But it is a Taiwan Racing Pigeons, It is originally released in the sea 300-900miles in they way home. And absolutely millions of dollars for the champion birds.

@@edtanioedu324 try to watch Taiwan Racing Pigeon Documentary. I once been a member of racing pigeon here in the Philippines.

Avadhesh these are racing birds with owners. Each one flies home and is timed based on distance from release point. Each bird has a race band around his leg for that race. Once the bird arrives home the owner takes it off the birds leg and drops it into a timer box that records the time. Winner takes in a lot of money.

Good video and good information except you forgot the part where fastest birds that get home make lots of $$$ lol.
I always wondered as to When does the clocking start during a race? When the flap doors open, or when the last bird gets out?
I think as soon as they open the cage it doesnt matter the other cage delayed a second because all of the birds dont know the route they will taken.
It actually starts at a set time, which is intended to signal the doors opening. Even though some birds will be delayed by a few seconds or even a minute, the released birds will group up and circle to pinpoint the way home. Needless to say, even if a door doesn't open correctly or a bird lingers longer in the truck, they're basically still starting for home at the same time.

Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "pigeons germany" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Hansaac Riyliver Scheme - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my colleague got great results with it.

That is NOT for raising that most have a different purpose. Because they are not release at the same time.
How do the pigeons know where to fly?
Instinct
That's the mystery.
My best guess is they feel the magnetic energy on the earth. They usually circle around a bit before taking off in one direction. Kinda like when you have to make your phone do the figure 8 thing sometimes to make GPS work.
Then once they are closer to home they recognize landmarks.
Also the owners train these birds to fly long distances by releasing them from different distances. They start out small and work their way up. A pigeon owner has to put in a lot of time racing.
I remember when my dad raced we'd go out a lot to release his birds.

I hope that ATC is informed when such events are to happen. Weather general aviation or airline flights this a hazard. Poop is forecast during release and along the flight path, a flushing toilet in the sky!

Thats not matter, matters most is how your bire will survive in the race
Some Birds do get a head start. So if you lose a race by minute or two, it could very well be due to being released a minute later.
@@BishopsPlace that doesn't matter. Before birds fly back straight to their homes, they will track the route first. And even the other birds flew first, it doesn't mean they already won the race. It depends on the condition of the birds if they can survive the race especially when they release to a place that very far from their home.

Lisa Krieger a pigeon trains like a human trains to run a marathon. The owner will take her birds five miles away, then ten, 30, then 75, then 125. Some races can be several hundred miles. Its nothing for a pigeon. They are treated extremely well, that is why they “race” home.
dseften I am a forster home for pigeons and know, how many of them don‘t find back home. The cruel is that the most of people i am calling don‘t want their pigeons back. It‘s all cruelty and only for profit of pigeons owner.
@lisakrieger4952 I'm researching how yo begin racing pigeons merely because they're beautiful and it brings me joy. I do not foresee myself owning thousands of pigeons. I only want 10 who I plan to hatch and raise myself. So not all pigeon racers are for profit. I didn't even know there was profit involved. I just know there are over 800 species of pigeons and they have been used to send messages for thousands of years. They're so sweet.

The birds are well hydrated days before the race. They often find water at creeks or lakes if they need to. When training, my ex used to check their feet after they landed to see if they had mud on them.
