  • Mutton Yakhni, a true Kashmiri delicacy can be found on all the special occassions. Be it a wedding, a ceremony or just another enjoyable weekend. The dish originated in Persia, and can be traced in Greek and Roman cultures too, the curd based gravy is a part of many cuisines. It was brought to India during the rule of Akbar and immediately became a Kashmiri favorite. The mutton is delicious, melts in your mouth, and fragrant.

    What a splendid dish! The love Mrs Kilam puts in her dish while making it, passes on to the audience with her simple and very effective way of explaining the recipe. I made it this weekend, and it was a hit. Awaiting lots more!

      yes 80% Indian are non-vegetarian. Kashmiri, Bengali, Kerala, Orissa, Assam, brahmins all eat non-veg

    Hello mam from where you buy kashmiri masala because i use local market masala and test comes different , i had kasmiri dish some of my friends house and It was amazing test and they are kasmiri pandit So can you suggest me please?

      They buy it from jammu or local kashmiri websites

      You can look up Maatamal in Gurgaon or Jain Masale Waale in Jammu.

    No green chillies and no chilli powder either. It will be less spicy. We don't add hing powder while cooking mutton.

      Yes it's less spicy and that is what is preferred in this version , heeng is important part of this recipie which Kashmiri pandits make , Kashmiri muslims add Garlic instead of heeng . This is a authentic kashmiri pandit recipie

    One thing that I always don't understand is how come kashmiri pandits eat non veg. Second they don't eat onion and garlic but they are ok to eat chiken mutton.

      This is not about satvik, in this dish and rogan josh particularly kashmiri pandits don't use onions and tomatoes but they do eat onions and tomatoes. Just for the clarification

      @@solitude7833Hinduism is not like abrahamic religions either strict dithery directions , these are guidelines but things can vary due to climate . Kashmir is very cold place and in ancient times there were no transportation from planes . Due to this Brahmins consumed meat there.
