    I have a little 37" Panasonic 480p plasma monitor from 2003, and it is awesome. Black levels are lacking, but you're absolutely right about the motion handling and uniquely appealing colors!
    This particular monitor seemingly has zero input lag and can beautifully downscale a 720p source. It's my favorite way to play Xbox 360, PS3, and 480p games. It even deinterlaces 480i seamlessly and properly handles 240p.

    Colors and brightness (whites) looked even better on CRT's, and to be honest I have never seen better looking picture than on HD CRT. But colors on Plasmas were more than acceptable (unlike LCD's), and sharpness was even better than on HD CRT, so I was very happy with plasmas overall.

    • @plasmatvforgaming9648
      @plasmatvforgaming9648  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've heard that those fine pitch HD CRTs look incredible but they are very difficult to find.

    • @cyberedge881
      @cyberedge881 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I still own two Sony XBR960 HD CRTs and they are amazing. But a good plasma is just as good overall. Only, in somewhat different ways (even though they have a similar kind of picture overall.)
      I own numerous plasma, including
      Pioneer PRO-101FD
      Pioneer PRO-111FD
      Pioneer PRO-950HD
      Pioneer PDP-4280HD
      Panasonic P55VT60
      Panasonic P42S60
      Panasonic P50GT50
      Plasma advantages:
      -Perfect geometry
      -Better color accuracy (on several models)
      -More consistent blacks
      -Blacks generally look darker in most mixed content.
      -Gamma and grayscale are more stable
      -Clearer, more legible text
      -Larger screen size
      -Perfect level of softness/sharpness
      -Movement seems slightly smoother & less jumpy/juddery on 30fps games (likely due to the slightly greater amount of motion blur)
      -No noticeable flicker
      -No ionizing radiation
      -4 HDMI ports and many more inputs/outputs in general
      -Looks better with still images and movies
      -Much thinner profile
      -Lighter weight, easier to move
      HD CRT (Sony 34XBR960) advantages:
      -Clearer motion (plasma is good, but CRT is even better)
      -Darker black levels when the whole scene is dark (low average picture level)
      -Less noticeable phosphor trails
      -Lower measured input lag
      -Cleaner image (no dither noise)
      -Less overscan
      -Built in speakers are excellent
      I really love plasmas and CRT. They just produce a type of picture and motion you can't get on LCD and OLED TVs. I do own an LG CX OLED and it does have some advantages of it's own, but I prefer the plasmas and CRTs overall, which is why I still own them.

      @@cyberedge881 the colour reproduction and fidelity on my pioneer krp is just so natural and accurate. I also have a Sony a95k for 4k blu rays and hdr but to be quite honest it doesn’t produce colour the way a plasma does.

      @cyberedge881 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pioneer
      Yeah, my Pioneer Kuros are overall my favorite TVs of all time. Everything looks amazing on them. Better than my LG CX hands down.
      That's interesting what you say about the Sony A95K. I was really hoping that QD-OLED would turn out to be the true successor to plasma. I have seen QD-OLEDs in Best Buy and wasn't overly impressed. Colors did seem more natural than WOLED, but still not as good as plasma. But I really need to see things in my normal viewing environment to fully understand how the technology stacks up.
      As a fellow plasma enthusiast, however, I tend to trust your judgement. I guess we're just going to have to enjoy our plasmas for as long as they last, and hope that something as good comes along in the future.

      @@tasoskehagio True, I have a Samsung S95C 77" and a Panasonic HZ 1000 65" - they're both gorgeus but a Panasonic with a QD-Oled panel would be my dream TV too - I doubt it's gonna happen though... :( Panasonic has a longterm contrac with LG so I don't think they're gonna switch to QD-Oled anytime soon.
      Even if they do, the other issue is size: now that I'm used to 77", I cannot go back to 65" - if anything, I'd like to upgrade to 83" and Panasonic refuses to concentrate on the bigger sizes, heck the 77" Z-series didn't even get an MLA panel for two years in a row now. Once Panasonic enters the QD-Oled market (if at all), there will be 83" or even bigger QD-Oled TVs from other brands so I probably won't have any incentive to buy a Panasonic again...

    Today after spending the afternoon calibrating an OLED C1 (at my brother)
    ...
    Arriving home my Plasma appeared dull SO I tuned my Panny GT30 to emulate the look of the C1 as much as possible. Had to abuse some settings in photo mode, but it's great visual experience.
    I know it's not SDR accurate, its purposefully trying a HDR OLED look.
    Contrast 100
    Brightness + 21
    Colour 99
    Sharpness 81
    WB warm
    Vivid colour on
    Reversal film effect on
    Eco off
    NR off
    Setup normal
    24p smooth max
    Resolution enhance max
    Gamma 2.0
    For these one has to test 18% gray to neutral wit cut controls. Then 80% gray neutral with gain control. Or full calibration to D65.
    WB balance
    R gain 14
    G gain 8
    B gain -30
    R cut -6
    G cut -3
    B cut. -30

    • @plasmatvforgaming9648
      @plasmatvforgaming9648  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's 600Hz subfield drive because it's refreshing at 60Hz but 10 flashes for each refresh. Those flashes are different color combinations and the picture we see is a result of dithering, also those 10 flashes per frame have 3 of them very bright and the rest are very dim, that reduces the persistence (pixel visibility time) improving the motion clarity. The plasma TV at only 60fps/Hz looks like 240 when moving at 240 pixels per second. Watch my videos about the Blur Busters Law to understand better
