I don't blame the car itself, since it has not been taught about Ambulances and Firetrucks... I also think these cars need to learn rolling stops and other human driver behavior (even though it may be illegal) since that's how real humans drive, and the laws need to be improvd to allow for rolling stops and other human simulated behavior , so that the cars can drive better. Full Stops aren't always the best... OR fix all the signs and the road markings etc. to make the roads make more sense, Full Stps don't alwas make sese. Speed humps/bumps need to be made visable on the map also and the city police should be in communication with the traffic police which should have an updated map for these companies to mark out parades, fairs and other road disruptions and alternative routes. the cars also need to be just a tad more assertive sometimes and should have an option for driver command to give direction suggestons like with real drivers .i.e " go left!" and then the car will turn left and change the preplanned route on the first oppurtunity. or "Park here", "Stop" , "drop me off closer to the edge" etc.

@@chrisjenkins203 Nothing could go wrong. Only benefits. By the way, rental cars is a thing and people don't usually steal them unless they want to be arrested. These driverless cars need your credit card and has cameras to film inside the car.
@@fluktuition Yeah, rental cars require you to actually have a govt issued ID and they check you out before allowing you to rent. Plus, things like insurance are required and most rental companies won’t rent to you if you’re under 25. On the other hand, it’s a well known fact that people sign up for Ride share apps with fake names, throw-away credit cards etc. So, it’s simple to hide your identity with ride share vs near impossible to do it when renting a car. But let me know if you want to compare apples to oranges anymore because that seemed like a “meaningful” and “intelligent” point you made 🫤 🤦
The driverless cars will never be able to react to something not programmed into it!
Life is never cut and dried and predictable!
Another in a growing list of reasons to ban driverless vehicles!
I will never get into one!
I don't care if the driverless vehicles have a billlion miles...emergency vehicle has lights and sirens, you pull over...period !
2:31 that's the fire chief!?!?!? She looks old, frail and physically unable to lift a hose.
This is not needed, an not tested well enough to be rolled out.
Must be the most terrifying event ever!
It's like they're trying to not say its anyone's fault because they were the ones who wanted a Driverless car on the road 😂
*when there is an emergency, your GREEN LIGHT means nothing. you will have to yield.* 🤣
Why no media reports the criuse crash on Aug 18 at 26th and mission? That crash looks more serious and is the one of the two crash (the other one is this one) on the same day that lead to 50% fleet cut of cruise.
2:10 The Cruise vehicule did stop, and start again when the fire truck is gone.
Get them off the streets
@ssb1056. Agreed 110% wit you…
For those of you that think that the drivers shouldn't stop for a emergency vehicle or that the emergency vehicle should wait because they're light is green hope you dont get to need one in life because they'll get there late and if you do need one hope you dont get mad because they dont get there in time because i mean they're waiting in the red light waiting for some driver to let them go i mean thats what you guys want anyways so be patient let them take there time till they get there
Driverless Cruise: Yes, we had seven cameras recording at the time of the accident. No, none of the videos survived the accident to prove who was at fault. Sorry, but we think firetrucks shouldn't drive so fast during emergencies; or they might cause more accidents.
Get them off the roads! I just saw a 9 block traffic jam in downtown Austin!! Because a Cruise stopped and out its hazards on and would not move. The football game just got, and it's a nightmare!!
Of course the passenger went to the hospital, no matter who's at fault, they both have deep pockets!
3 million mile is misleading. They usually operate from 9pm-5am when there are barely any drivers on the road. Most times they are making thousands of circles around empty streets
If i cant drink a beer while riding in an AV then AVs are absolutely useless lol
Cruise: clearly the fault lies with the human driver in the fire truck and not the car that has literally no one driving it.
It is INNSANE to let driver less cars drive in normal traffic like this, they for example do not understand if police officer signals it to stop, turn around , move away or ANYTHING a police or other orders it to do.
This was such a predictable thing to happen. This is on the city for allowing these corporations to put people in danger.
The Driverless car was at fault. It should have been programmed to come to a Dead Stop upon the sound of a siren. Waymo claims to have audio detection outside of the car. There is no excuse.
Disgraceful that people's lives are being put at serious risk just for Cruise and Waymo to make money. Ban them from the roads.
here in canada you must yield and our emergency vehicles due slow than proceed
GahhDamn
Hope the passenger is okay
Well that's a law suit
San Francisco seems to like to tempt fate with automated transportation systems. I seem to remember automated BART trains colliding years ago when that system was inaugurated.
This journalist say no way she would move the car even if the light is green , she must have live in a different world from these drivers ive seen on the road 😂😂😂😂
After reading cruises comment, I’ve come to the conclusion that they are not at fault 🙄
The automated cars are just like everyone else in the bay area, they don't stop or move out of the way for the firetrucks
Cancel any robo taxi, any AI!
An investigation was opened by NHTSA National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 9 months ago, is this not further evidence that all this should be halted until the bugs are worked out. The human element can't be replaced. This is all on cruise.
So they’re using self driving cars now? Must be a thing but it’s clearly not working.
No one died or injured huh! Looks like eventually someone will get hurt, question is do you want it to be you.
Firefighters no longer have to assure the intersection is safe to proceed through? I heard there was a passenger. Protection of life isn't a figmrefighters job anymore apparently. Disappointed in SFFD.
I was nearly killed by a SUV speeding around a vehical. The SUV came into the opposite lame. My lane and nearly took me out. So close.
This is the problem with single vehicle intelligence
I think it is OK. Accidents happen, and what matters is if its proportion is smaller than human drivers. With these accidents, the driverless cars will be better. If we don't encourage these driverless cars, it will be overtaken by other global competitors like those in China. I hope the passenger in the car recover soon!
This will be interesting, legally speaking.
From what I’ve gathered on ‘Cruise’ thus far is they drive rather “timidly”, which makes them seem almost “absent minded” (pardon the pun).
its the firetrucks fault lol its simple, i understand he was doing a maneuver to get around a vehicle but they openly admitted to the firetruck bring at fault. i feel bad for the passenger in that car
Obviously the driverless car is at fault since the thing cant response to emergency vehicles
Typical everyone will go in on the driverless cars. Blah Blah blah. Typical
If you want to run autonomous vehicles safely they will have to have their own roads/lanes/ infrastructure.
Surprise Surprise. Keep these things off our roads.
It’s 2023 and the city STILL uses fire trucks?? Detroit quit using them YEARS AGO.
@@josephlandry8787 What does that mean? Why wouldn't you?
@@IfImCommentingStopMe why does the city still allow these dangerous fire trucks on the road?
@@josephlandry8787 okay, sarcasm finally registered
Who's at fault? It's not who, it's what.
Well if the billion dollar company with billions invested in the technology says there's nothing wrong with it I'm sure it's fine.
Obviously the passenger in the automobile is at fault. They agreed to participate in a huge beta test of driverless cars.
The reason why these cars are bad
Its the fault of the driverless truck. What they mean they dont know whos fault it is?😅
Approved for robotaxi ….. oooppss nvm 😊
Cars need drivers even if it is in autopilot.
I blame the Robot Car company, and also the city officials who legalized this.
they should add transievers to the firetrucks and plot all active trucks on the Map, so that the cars can "see" the trucks and "hear" them approaching when they get the "GET OUT THE WAY AND STOP" command from nearby fire trucks thanks to the transiever signals from the trucks.
We must get these dangerous fire truck off our streets!
No we must get the useless drivers that think that they shouldn't stop for an emergency vehicle with his lights and sirens on off the rode
This driverless bullshit needs to stop! WEEK OF THE CONE 👍
Its the firetrucks fault. He should've slowed down at the intersection and proceeded when clear.
The robot cars don't stop at intersections for sirens and lights.
I agree. I wasn’t there but I have seen these emergency vehicles do some crazy things. Plus these people are underpaid and don’t have the proper training.
@@MyFriendlyPup Still doesnt excuse the fact that the firetruck ran the red light.
@@danielkofman4592well it does actually because of they get to they're destination where the emergency is and they find the person dead who do think it's going to be the one on blame them because they didn't get there on time because some other people think that they don't need to stop of emergency vehicles because they have green light. Gosh it's like you guys don't even care about other people when you make those comments
Oh I don't know....but when I have the right away with a green light I would normally stop and allow emergency vehicles through.
That's what the law requires. Ideally, the emergency vehicle has a strobe light that triggers an all-way red, to stop you from having a green light.
Liability on the Cruise.... for sure
SF Fire Chief is some kinda FREAK. What a messed up city, this could result in pedestrians getting hit. If you are in SF or CA, leave now.
Yeah these people are fucking crazy lmao
This unfortunate events, but self driving vehicle is still at infancy stage, and every problem is also new Data to improve self driving capabilities so when the technology mature probably 20-30 years in the future all known problem probably already has been fix
FD at fault.
