The Taj Mahal of the North Slope! I posted a year ago and did indeed end up there as the baker and later breakfast cook there from January to August of last year. Great job; much of my baking skills were acquired there after starting off as a novice.
I'm curious do you share this room with another worker? You mentioned that half of the closet was yours but I only saw one bed. Do you both sleep on the same bed but at different times?
I believe he means the person with whom he shares the room on an alternating basis. That roomy is probably in the lower 48 at this time. He does have another roommate on the other side of the bath area who is there now, with whom he shares the bath. This is the north slope.
that is a nice room. I work in the fishing industry and I can tell you so many people come up to Alaska expecting to get rich without working..sorry Alaska is for people who work, not some lazy bum who is used to hand outs, the work is hard and very long hours and as a processor you share a room with up to five other people and use a bathroom/shower that is not private. DO NOT go to Alaska and expect it to be easy.
Respond to this video... So THAT'S the new Aurora camp, eh? Must be the one over by the store in Deadhorse? Pretty danged nice, sure beats living in the "projects" @ MCC Be safe.
For punishment they send their technical people on geophysical crews in the middle of winter. And I think everyone that has to really work there is miserable.Good thing is they feed you really well if you work there. If you think you would have fun, think again. You are on contract. And it is not like the rest of America. You really have to work there.I think that is why almost everyone there is miserable. It is a dry place and there is no drinking there.
