I absolutely love how that came out. I love that you stained the neck & fretboard and made a matching wood cavity plate for the back..... and of course Stainless Steel Frets!
i'd have to go through your vids to let you know as i commented on how much i like it on my main youtube account. suffice to say. i was pretty much drooling over it. @@bigdguitars
Classic carve on a telecaster, man talk about a great guitar. That thing should be in the Museum.Great woods and build.I am impressed buddy.Wish I had a garage to work in ,I'd be doing the same thing.Great guitar D.Can't wait for your next custom build. 👍🎸
Those finish colors worked out great and the body & neck looked absolutely stunning. But man, that flame maple you got there is the stuff dreams are made of!... Let me tell you, the unthinkable things I would do to have a garage full of it in 8/4. Another work of art my man!
@@bigdguitars You are much to kind and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the offer. Waiting on the weather to break a bit so I can begin setting up shop in the garage. I will certainly hit you up once I'm equipped to store/stock material. I'm not even equipped yet to begin resawing & processing any material. I've found some figured curly locally (Central Ohio), but it is nowhere near close to what you have there. I will be in touch in the not to distant future for certain. You rock my man.
That is a lot of work to put into a nice carved top. I am simply blown away on how you went about it with the holes and then chiseling the top. Just nuts! That is a beautiful guitar all around and probably one of the best I’ve seen you do tele wise. I like the fact you used true oil on this one. I use either true oil or wipe on poly on kits I build due to ease and I like the look. Kinda more natural in a way. Excellent, excellent work!!
Wow, that was awesome. A whirlwind of possible techniques for achieving this kind of build, and then watching all that flame maple come to life was just exhilarating. Great stuff, beautiful build.
You've build some nasty beasts over the years. This one is definitely one of the coolest ones. I mean look at that back! It's glorious. The carve of the top is awesome and the wood piece is beautiful. YEAH !
stunning guitar. out of all the ones I've seen built on youtube, that is in my top 10 faves atm. I would dearly love a Nashville telecaster like that. in all honesty. out of all the guitars I've seen built. that's the first one I've really wanted.
Inspiring stuff. I hope to build guitars one day and make something out of it. Your craft is just jaw dropping. Wish I could be an apprentice to the craft.
Man, some of the comments... The cool thing about building “Custom” Guitars, is that you get to make it into whatever you want. There is no Right or Wrong way of doing. Outstanding job brother!! I’ve literally lost count of how many of your videos I’ve watched and haven’t walked away from one yet where I wasn’t blown away and or learned something. Thanks to you for your time and TH-cam for this platform to teach with. I do have a question for ya, I’ve seen you do this carve top as well a Les Paul carve, what are the thicknesses of timber that you start with for the body and the maple top?
You should see the old school jig Heritage Guitars uses to carve tops. Rather amazing for a old abandoned tool from Gibson at Parsons Street in Kalamazoo
I WANT IT!!! This is seriously about as close to my dream guitar as I've ever seen! Only things I'd change would be to make it a neck-through guitar, with neck specs of a 90's Jackson, 24 jumbo stainless frets, flat 16" striaght radius all the way down the neck, and to have 1 single Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge, and 1 single volume knob just below the 5-screw Fender hardtail bridge, and a Floyd Rose locking nut to help maintain tune (I do a lot of heavy bends). All black hardware & black Kluson Revolution locking tuners. Keep it simple. 🤘🏻 I wish I could afford a build like this, I would definitely get you to build me this guitar, if I could.
Now that is one beautiful guitar. I thought fret boards had to be hard like rosewood though, but all I know comes from your channel as well as stumac and rosa string works.
@josh grant Thanks Josh. I've learned something. I just had a hunt and found this: spinditty.com/instruments-gear/Maple-vs-Rosewood-Fretboard-Whats-the-Difference
I love going back and watching old videos. Definitely an education
This is a good one
@@bigdguitars honestly they all are. People are missing out if they don't check out your page.
Dude, that finish is ridiculous. I could stare at that all day!
The finish is beautiful and you sir have some skills! She looks like she wants to sing.
Genius manifest. Yes, YOU. Genius...Thank you for what you do...
Love going back and checking out videos I may have missed
Thanks buddy

out of all the guitars i've seen built on youtube. you've built two of my favourites. this is the second. a stunning guitar, mate.
What’s the first one you like?

I have a greater admiration for carved top guitars now. that is a TON of work. holy moley
Wow, stunning! That looked like quite a bit of work and it was well worth it.
Gorgeous instrument. I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful neck.
Carve Top Tele's are SICK! IN A GOOD WAY! One day you will be lauded for your masterful builds. Your future is cosmic. I a stellar way.
Nice job! Amazing craftsmanship.
Beautiful !!! A real piece of ART!!!

God!! It is so beautiful... My favorite part is that neck...
Wow! What a beauty!👍😎🎸🎶
Thats an amazing looker! The finish and the neck are exquisite!
Wow!! Very interesting build with an amazing result!! Beautiful guitar!! 🙏🎼👍👍
Awesome guitar and workmanship!
Drop dead gorgeous! Congrats!
Cutting that belly carve on the band saw takes some ballz!
Gorgeous instrument! Love your skill with the dyes.

Best build yet! Beautiful instrument!
Beautiful, nice work
good lord that is absolutely stunning. You do awesome work.
ho my god , it s the most beautiful one you have done , i think !
Great video. The guitar turned out beautifully... And I'm not usually a big fan of country but i really enjoyed that background music.... Cheers.
Cool video! Dig sending the guitar through the sander at that angle and your truss rod routing jig. Heck the radius jig for the router was cool too!
It's amazing what one can achieve in 16 minutes 👌
Usually carved top teles don’t have the angled heel like you did here. Kudos for that.
Wow, that was awesome. A whirlwind of possible techniques for achieving this kind of build, and then watching all that flame maple come to life was just exhilarating. Great stuff, beautiful build.
the whole guitar is gorgeous but that neck is beautiful!
I second that!😁
Really fascinating to watch this, thanks for posting it. Glad I subbed recently.
EDIT: Also, that is a beautiful build, love the stain and flame.
Gorgeous build. Really gets my GAS going.
Wow what a beautiful guitar that neck tho is out of this world awesome! Great Video!

This is a stunning instrument.
Fantastic. Great Job
that thing sounds amazing i love it!
Your finishing skills are wonderful. Beautiful guitar.
Very nice work , and the end result speaks for itself .
BigD Rocks !!
That is beautiful!
That neck is incredible!
How much do you charge for one of your builds in general?
Absolutely gorgeous guitar, Phenomenal job Sir.
Well that's a one-of-a-kind instrument for sure. Absolutely stunning! Amazing craftsmanship; dare I say artistry?
Most beautiful guitar I've ever seen made. Who would ever use leather dye? And ten oil coatings. Very beautiful guitar.
Awesome build
Jeez that is great work
Nice method on the drilled start to contours, might have to try that on a future build instead of router steps!
Work of functional art.

Thanks for posting this content. You do fantastic work.
wow! leather dye!? that really made that maple top really pop. oh and that neck, that neck! I might just get with you on a build
Amazing build bro! I love that neck!!
Wow what a fine guitar, top.
Never thought I'll hear a guitar interpretation of a Hungarian folk song around videos like this :)
haha. very funny.

Wow. That is super nice. I think you're gonna be busy doing these for awhile.
Nice radius machine! Hahaha =D
Never gets old - I love this build! Thanks D. I think I like the builds even more than the stain vids. :-)
Beautiful guitar! Also a nice Coke GMT!
Shhh. I made a mint on that one
awesome
Just gorgeous, the neck is outstanding
My only criticism is too many pick ups, little overkill
Beautiful work

Hi Derek can you add what products you use to your description many thanks.
I wonder if I could do a carved top on my next build with just some hand tools?
Is there anything you can't make, very very impressive sir......,
If I had any talent at all, this is the guitar I would build. Kudo's to you!!
you are an artiste
thank you
Groovy music
After drilling the holes can't you use an angle grinder to speed things up? Rather than a chisel to start with?
yea I could have gone straight to that. but I like to see how it develops.

If I'd blinked I'd have missed the fingerboard radiusing router attachment thing at 11:45; what a cool idea. Would you share a link?
there was a guy making these years ago. he doesn't make them anymore.
Would love to have something similar done, would go for a different body style but the grain on the wood is perfect for me.
I blame Tom green for my weirdness so call Derek and order what you want!
Very nice build. It looks like the varnish above the bridge pickup is off at 15:06
that might be the lighting. I have way crazy bright lights in the shop.
