Design Your First Flower Urn - Easy Step-By-Step Instructions for a Large Garden Style Arrangement

  • Learn to design a large garden style flower arrangement. For this project I use a Holly Chapple egg as the mechanic in a clear urn. I start with smoke bush to build the shape of the arrangement. I then add purple campanula as a supporting flower. It has good volume and adds color. Delphinium and foxglove provide height. My focal flowers for this urn are yellow lilies. I use some dark purple statice to break up the lightness of the color. Finally, just to get fancy, I attached water picks on wood skewers to extend the length of a few poppies so they can peek out over the top.

That was so enjoyable to watch. I've been making this kind of arrangement (go big or go home!) since a child.. But I use flowers growing wild in the fields. And what a beautiful urn! That is what hooked me into watching the video. Loved the tip about using water piks!

WOW WOW WOW! Absolutely gorgeous. How do you suggest transporting this to an event? I watched another video using a chapple egg, where the designer built the arrangement in the intended vase without securing the egg to the vase. Once the design was finished, he picked up the arrangement from the vase and transferred it to a large bucket for storage in the cooler and transporting. At the event, the flowers are lifted from the bucket and placed into the intended vase (which hopefully you remembered to pack!) Is this what you would do, or do you have another process you would recommend? I love everything about this design and that you used some unique flowers too!

YES! You can definitely transport it that way. We would usually transport it in a milk crate. You can see it here th-cam.com/video/OJXuttF6JKI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kewQ9ag19rtbRs6R
