I am using menstrual cup from past 5 months and can't tell u how easy my periods are...no rashes nothing...u wont even realize after 30 min that u are on your periods. I suffer from very heavy perioda and i personally feel they are the best ,no sidw effects. Go for it girl.

Thanks for sharing information about menstrual cups and walking through the whole process. A couple of tips based on my experience. - You can use a lubricant like coconut oil - a very small amount, to help with insertion if required. - Once you have inserted, you can use your finger to feel around the bottom of the cup - the circular area right above the stem, to check if the cup has unfolded completely. If it’s not unfolded, you can feel the fold as your finger is cruising around that area, and you can remove and re insert.

So good to know there are many people using cups , it’s soo underrated i have been a cup user for 5 years now - and had so many hardships with it but i eventually learned to use this. But you do you boo- don’t force yourself- because a menstrual cup is supposed to keep your stress away , not give you more stress- if cup doesn’t work for you - there are many other eco friendly options that might be for you because it’s eventually for you and the earth who should benefit!

Hey Sarah! I'm a girl just like you :p Been an year since I've been using a menstrual cup and it's been life changing. Love, love, love that you are switching to it. With my experience of it I have a few tips for you for better sanitization and leakage prevention. 1. Once you insert it in your body, you can touch the lower part of the cup, right above the stem and try to move it in circular motions. This will help you feel if it popped open or not. Might also just pop open during this adjustment. Another thing that can be done is try tugging ever so slightly at it, holding the stem and pulling it out. If it comes out, vacuum wasn't created and you need to reinsert. If it doesn't, you'll be able to feel the vacuum that holds it in. And you'll be good to go. 2. The cup also needs to be sterilized every day, or on alternate days. You can use a menstrual cup wash for that. I'd recommend one by Sirona. It's available on amazon. You literally need a few drops and then you can lather it up to clean the cup. A 100 ml bottle lasted me for about an year. You need the smallest amount to clean it.

@@teex1158 Hey! Yes I mentioned Sirona because I use the cup from the same brand in the Size 'M'. To answer your question, I believe size M should be great for your age and if you are someone who hasn't yet given birth. I use it myself and i have had a wonderful experience with it. The stem of the cup could be a little problematic in the beginning though. Just use it once and trim a little bit off it needed. That's what I did.

If you pinch the base of the cup it helps the cup to open up and even feeling the cone of the base means the cup has opened completely. You can tug on the stalk of the cup and if there is resistance the cup has opened, you’ll often hear the pop of the cup when it opens completely, With time you’ll learn more things about the how to’s. Try the tulip/punch down method to insert it’s easier for the cup to pop open

Let me just say this already.. if you don't feel the cup opening, simply just move your fingers around the area above where the stem starts. If the cup feels round and circled than its completely opened and you don't have to worry about it. That's it. That's how you check it it has opened inside.
When you insert the cup, you can just move your finger around the stem.. To see if it's all round with no bents Or anything... That's a sign that it has fit in properly... You don't have to love around the house or wait to see if it's leaking. :)
@@julietromeo7693 when you insert the cup inside your body and after it's fully inside, you've to move your finger around the base of the cup to see if it's bending Or like if it's not in right shape I.e. your feel that it's not filly round... If that's the case you've to take it our and reinsert it... And if you feel that the base of the cup is all round and there's no bending Or anything... It's fit in properly.. You're good to go.

I have been using a menstrual cup since last 3 yrs. It's a life changer. I can't even imagine using a tampon now. it's great to see such detailed and candid review. Btw you can check if it has opened property by running your finger around the cup to ensure it is smooth. Also I find the punch down fold makes it easier for insertion.

you can check the menstural cup whether its leaking or not by moving your finger above the stem of the cup if it is opened properly then you can feel a complete circle above the stem of the cup without any curves

That has never happened to anyone. It's not possible actually. I have been using the cup for more than 2 years now. It will take some time to get used to it and to learn the proper way of inserting it but eventually you will thank yourself for it trust me.

Hey Sarah! So glad you tried menstrual Cup. I'm using it from about 4 years now. One suggestion to be sure if your cup has opened and fit properly is to move your index finger around the cup while inside and feel the rim of cup. That way it helps the cup to open up/fit inside. So you don't have to wait around and check before leaving the house.

I am 17 yrs old and today I tried my first menstrual cup.. Hope everything goes well... Edit: I had to do a circus to remove the cup. What I learnt by this is that you have to slightly push the cup like giving birth to a baby. Then you can easily get it's base

A great guide for youngsters as u are so open with your experiences. Also cups are great for environmental reasons. So kudos you are normalizing periods and cups. One tip : Don't use old toothbrush to clean it in between uses. Anything that has any chance of bacterial development can be avoided. You can keep a good quality cup to upto 12 hours One tip for removal: just push 😶 istg its the easiest. When we push like while potty or delivery the muscles there contract and it lowers where you can reach it. Then don't directly yeet by the stem. First pinch the cup a little so the vaccum is broken then pull it out

1. Once you insert it in your body, you can touch the lower part of the cup, right above the stem and try to move it in circular motions. This will help you feel if it popped open or not. Might also just pop open during this adjustment. Another thing that can be done is try tugging ever so slightly at it, holding the stem and pulling it out. If it comes out, vacuum wasn't created and you need to reinsert. If it doesn't, you'll be able to feel the vacuum that holds it in. And you'll be good to go.
2. The cup also needs to be sterilized every day, or on alternate days. You can use a menstrual cup wash for that. I'd recommend one by Sirona. It's available on amazon. You literally need a few drops and then you can lather it up to clean the cup. A 100 ml bottle lasted me for about an year. You need the smallest amount to clean it.

I purchased their size M due to a confusion on Nykaa so as a beginner should/can I use it? Like even Sarah used size M from hers so is it possible for Sirona? Or do I have go for size S only? @@teex1158 Hey! Yes I mentioned Sirona because I use the cup from the same brand in the Size 'M'. To answer your question, I believe size M should be great for your age and if you are someone who hasn't yet given birth. I use it myself and i have had a wonderful experience with it. The stem of the cup could be a little problematic in the beginning though. Just use it once and trim a little bit off it needed. That's what I did.

I generally put it and squat ....that helps to pop it open inside. AND MENSTRUAL CUPS ARE A BLESSING. 😍 i have been using it for years now. You can never go back to tampons or pads once you get comfortable with it.

If you pinch the base of the cup it helps the cup to open up and even feeling the cone of the base means the cup has opened completely. You can tug on the stalk of the cup and if there is resistance the cup has opened, you’ll often hear the pop of the cup when it opens completely, With time you’ll learn more things about the how to’s. Try the tulip/punch down method to insert it’s easier for the cup to pop open

Let me just say this already.. if you don't feel the cup opening, simply just move your fingers around the area above where the stem starts. If the cup feels round and circled than its completely opened and you don't have to worry about it. That's it. That's how you check it it has opened inside.
When you insert the cup, you can just move your finger around the stem.. To see if it's all round with no bents Or anything... That's a sign that it has fit in properly... You don't have to love around the house or wait to see if it's leaking. :)

If that's the case you've to take it our and reinsert it... And if you feel that the base of the cup is all round and there's no bending Or anything... It's fit in properly.. You're good to go.

I have been using a menstrual cup since last 3 yrs. It's a life changer. I can't even imagine using a tampon now. it's great to see such detailed and candid review. Btw you can check if it has opened property by running your finger around the cup to ensure it is smooth. Also I find the punch down fold makes it easier for insertion.

you can check the menstural cup whether its leaking or not by moving your finger above the stem of the cup if it is opened properly then you can feel a complete circle above the stem of the cup without any curves

That has never happened to anyone. It's not possible actually. I have been using the cup for more than 2 years now. It will take some time to get used to it and to learn the proper way of inserting it but eventually you will thank yourself for it trust me.

Hey Sarah! So glad you tried menstrual Cup. I'm using it from about 4 years now. One suggestion to be sure if your cup has opened and fit properly is to move your index finger around the cup while inside and feel the rim of cup. That way it helps the cup to open up/fit inside. So you don't have to wait around and check before leaving the house.

Edit: I had to do a circus to remove the cup. What I learnt by this is that you have to slightly push the cup like giving birth to a baby. Then you can easily get it's base

A great guide for youngsters as u are so open with your experiences. Also cups are great for environmental reasons. So kudos you are normalizing periods and cups. One tip : Don't use old toothbrush to clean it in between uses. Anything that has any chance of bacterial development can be avoided. Rinse clean and wash with mild soap following suitable instructions .

You can keep a good quality cup to upto 12 hours
One tip for removal: just push 😶 istg its the easiest. When we push like while potty or delivery the muscles there contract and it lowers where you can reach it. Then don't directly yeet by the stem. First pinch the cup a little so the vaccum is broken then pull it out

I started using menstrual cup when I was in my 11th grade. A month before ordering it online, my mom and sis had already gone insane with my blabbering about menstrual cups. So I got my cup and I went to bathroom after 100times of informing everyone 🙃 and I was giving running commentary of my experience and what I am doing.
