This theme always brings a good suspense feel to it. What I love is how the further you go into the track, the more of the feel of danger you can hear 🙂.
That's what the brilliance of Mike and Junior's music was to the Awdry stories. Good written story added with good music and its just the perfect recipe. Although its a shame that according to Mike O'Donnell himself there was no musical review from Wilbert Awdry himself.

I recently realised something very disturbing about this music. It only played when building up to a crash, so when you heard it a crash wasn’t a possibility, it was inevitable. So it was like they had already crashed 10 seconds before they actually did. This was a messed up show sometimes.
I've always associated this theme with Percy - even though it was used for Thomas and Donald. But if there's one story that the Thomas Comes to Breakfast variation and the two Percy episode variations would've worked for brilliantly and that's Christopher Awdry's Near Miss. Everything about the climax to that annual story just has The Danger Theme written all over it (more so than the Runaway Theme).
