    Checking in from Ohio - Been enjoying watching some of your projects the last couple weeks. Looks like it sure beats sitting in a cubicle in an office. I have a baby backhoe I started a pond with. Decided to go bigger so I rented the biggest mini excavator I could trailer behind an F250. I could see myself trading the desk for and excavator for "Act II" of my life. Buy another Volvo and I'll come run if for you. Hell, I can dig a mean test hole for sure. Keep filming.

    I like when an older video pops up and gives me a view into your history. Around here it’s red clay until you hit granite….

    This is going to be an interesting project. I sure hope you are going to keep those camera's rolling and send out more videos. It's a long winter here , and watching you work, ( if you can call that work,..you're having too much fun !!) will help me, for one, enjoy the time watching what you show us.
    Thanks very much. .

    what a random video. but i am studying soil and foundations, so thanks for this!

    I dug test holes at my place to get soil samples and make sure the clay would be good for house foundation. I only had to go down about 8' to get an answer. Down here it just alternates clay/sand layers for 1000's of feet. I have sandy/silt topsoil to about 4', then hard clay boundary to about 12-15', then solid clean sand. Neighbors say the sand is 15' thick, then clay again. But yeah, I dug the holes instead of drilling as well. I personally like to see the profile, and we couldn't get a boring rig to the site anyway.

    We almost lost one of the engineers following us around digging test holes one day. The guy insisted on standing right at the edge of the hole. After about 5 times of telling him to get back he finally caused a hole to cave. I grabbed him by the shirt collar and yanked him back a second before 3 feet of the bank gave way. He finally learned...

    going to be hard to trench in utilities thru solid rock. A hole in a bean field here would show black dirt down to about 6 feet then yellow clay down to about 12 feet and then blue clay. Im not used to red colored soil.

      +imchris5000 Put that job near Toronto and the houses will be worth 800 plus. We did a job this summer near TO and the backyards were about 15- 20feet deep and the houses were worth a million plus.

    What kind of truck does it take to haul that around

    • @slayerjohn447
      @slayerjohn447 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dirt, a half ton pickup can haul it. The excavator counts as a specialty load so, you need a low boy and a semi that rated for the weight.
