Great job, very helpful instructions. I just finished a major re-do on a Kiss machine, the art was toast. I switched to the professional grade acrylics, huge difference in the vibrancy of the colors. I used a 2 part clear in a can, worked great. Also Sharpie make paint pens now which were great for making the circles around the inserts and outlining. thanks for giving me the confidence to attempt such a big project.

I have used these clear coat products in the past to restore a Player Piano. They are very easy and forgiving to use.
One thing I noticed from the videos is his concern regarding water penetrating the edges. A simple solution is to first spray those edges at about a 30 degree angle before clear coating the Play field. This material will level itself even if doing this results in a bit more clear coat around the edges of the playfield.
That way the entire Plywood is completely sealed

Exactly what I needed to see. All 5 videos. Couple questions that if aren't answered here, I'll try emailing.
    1. How long do you let the second coat dry before sanding/leveling inserts?
    2. I've never used an automotive spray gun. You're saying to watch the level in the gun so it doesn't run out. What is a good amount to use in your gun at a time and how long can it sit in the gun before it starts to gum up?
    3. Only after 4th coat you're moving up beyond the 600 grit correct?
    4. Have you ever had any issues with "sharpie" touch up black bleeding once the clearcoat is applied? I heard it will bleed but maybe it depends on the product used.
Thanks again for all the input. I've got 7 playfields I want to do.

You do some great stuff! Novus is the right way to say it... Know-Vus, not Knew-Vos. Might be since you're up north. Great vids! I highly recommend taking off the back-playfield stuff and this saves you the taping time and also the fishing out sludge as well. Gets someone more knowledgeable about how a playfield is laid out as well. About same time, but no slop to clean up.

Hey Pindude, its been 8 years since you did the clearcoat and I was wondering how is it holding up? can you show/send a pic of how it looks now? thanks . great vids.

The playfield I did in that video I did for someone on the pinball newsgroup(RGP). But I did my Back to Future playfield around that same time and it still looks as good as the day I cleared it 8 years ago. If you keep your game clean and and change the balls every now and then, you will never damage a playfield coated in 2 stage auto clear. Even if you happen to get a scratch in it, just wet sand and buff it out.

@@MyVintagePinball I was curious too. Plus, I would love to find a good bttf. My wife and I watch the trilogy at least once a week and have a bunch of bttf memorabilia.

PinDude, I love your vids but please stop saying "Noovus" - it's Novus! :-)
Seriously, these are very helpful, keep 'em coming!

Looks like I am going to have to invest in more items before I can clear coat my playfield.
I still need to get the rest of the playfield stuff off to clean it.
And then it needs touch up and a ton of the mylar taken off as there is like almost everything on the play field has a mylar on it.
Is there any way to brush the clear coat on?
    As I don't have a compressor.
Sorry about the questions I am so new to restoring these machines.
