In this video I open up about where my Yamaha R1 has been and her future on the channel. She is a 2014 Yamaha R1 with a Toce Exhaust and M4 Mid Pipe, tire stickers (letters), 3000k HID headlights and several other modification. I have owned this bike since January 2018 and I absolutely love it. However, ownership has not been peaches and cream the entire time. There have been NUMEROUS hurdles and she was even out of commission an entire riding season once. I have sunk a TON of money into modifications, maintenance, and several other things. As yall know, I also just bought a 2017 Ducati 1299 Panigale S and I absolutely love that motorcycle. Is that a good replacement for this bike or should we keep the R1, continue modifying it and cross my fingers that nothing else happens. Luckily there have not been any recalls on the bike yet.

You bought a neglected R1. I have never had a problem with my R1 or any Yamaha bike for that matter. If you think you're Italian bike is going to be more reliable than your Japanese bike good luck!
I love D but this I can agree on whole heartedly. Getting a new motor for a 2014 r1 was the first sign of issues in the future. I will never trust a European bike EVER.

I have had a Panigale v2 for a year now and never had any problems with it.
@@lothegreat1788 Most of this reliability talk only comes from people that wanna knock other people down for having something they wish they had. I personally have never seen someone that "owned" an Italian bike complain about reliability, it's only in the TH-cam comments I see it.
I got my R1 2010, I will never sell it! Probably just gonna fix it up everytime something breaks because that sound and the look of the bike is unmatched by far in my opinion! EVEN if she dies and cant be saved, I will keep her as a souvenir in the garage.
I got the exact same bike.. and I totally agree with you. She has won my heart and I'll never let her go..! Even tho she threw me off a few times😂

It seems to me like a lot of these issues could have been prevented with a little more frequent preventive maintenance. But love your bike, I've got a murdered out 11', also my dream bike (bought and built). That crossplane, there's nothing on the planet like it. 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

I JUST bought a neglected used 2014 R1. I'm spending a bunch of money to get her running right. Once I get it going I do plan on doing riding content and racing content rod riders who want to race or just want to learn some good riding tips trick and techniques..

Seals were at least $250, 40 for seals, 100 each side, they mightve charged extra to take the forks off. I always take my forks to the dealer to get the seals done. Much cheaper. And I bring my own oem seal kit. Also much cheaper.
@@ChrisGuthrie r1 fork seals are sub $40 from many places and even oem yamaha ones i see for under $30 right now. Private Shops here charge sub $300 total with them buying seals and fluid lol he got assfucked
Interestng Thanks. I'm on my 8th Yamaha supersports, including R1s never had any serious issues, until one of my 98s pistons started to seize (internal corrosion) after 50,000 Miles. I appreciate that you spent a fortune. The bike is stunning however, and sounds fantastic. I'm currently on an 05 (red).

I have an 08 R6 and so far, it’s been the best bike I’ve ever own. Maintenance, yeah, it’s a pain, yet, that’s the price for owning a Yamaha
I owned a mint 2013 R1 with The full Toce Exhaust. Did not have any issues with the motor or drive train, flashed the ECU removed all the restrictions and engine breaking to like 40%!!!!! Man what a rocket and the exhaust sounded amazing, Sounds like a muscle car!!!!!
Just sold my 05 gsxr 750 that i have owned for about 5 years and bought a 2013 R1 same color scheme and i had to order some new tires and seals bc it sat for awhile but shes healthy i gave her a little rip around town and cannot wait to put this thing on the hwy and the canyons 🔥
Beautiful bike man.i just bought a 2012 r1 50 anniversary edition with only 2100 miles.had to changed the fuel pump because the previous owner had the bike sitting for years and the fuel pump got damaged.scary fast bike.you got a new subscriber.i got the same toce exhaust and this is my first bike ever.
If you were running that cat delete without a flash or tune, you leaned tf out of the bike. Could've done damage in the mean time. Get it tuned asap if you haven't already.

I totaled my first Harley and I can’t really afford to buy another “new” bike so I got a barn find shovel head and I’m gonna trade that or sell it to get me the bike I want but I can’t decide if I want a sport bike or patch into SOA and get a dyna😂 my daily commute is about 74 miles and every day I make that trip on 4 wheels is another day I feel dead inside.

BrO omg Now I need a Stator I think on my 2012 Beast!! 🤦♂️ I have to put my battery on the charger at night and install the next day when I want to ride!! I’m trying to Thug it until riding season completely OVER before I put her in the shop!! That way I’ll get her back pretty Swiftly 🤦♂️ Dude since I bought my bike two years agO!! I had to spend $4000 on a engine and pistons rebuild(Two weeks after I bought her) then Team PowerSports kept my bike 6 months just to do that…Then gave her back to me and not even a full week later my Starter went out!! 🤦♂️ That was almost $800 job!! 🤦♂️ Now my damn Stator has Gone!! Dude no one in life ever told me how much maintenance and how expensive these bikes can get!! Oh yeah I’ve replace 3 rear tires!! Just replaced one last week and got the cheap Dunlop q3 for $160 after Installation!! I would NEVER ever sale My R1!! I’ve put so much TLC into her it’s not even funny!! And my fiancé has threaten to Cheat on me numerous of times because she swears up and down I show my baby more Love then Her!! 🤫🤫😂🤣😂🤣😂💯

Bro ive had pretty much every sport bike, i bought an r1 like yours but a 2012 and im in love with this bike, something about it, very unique, i will keep it though i plan on getting a newer s1000rr, those are like the r1, it has its own personality and one of a kind. The r1 is the most original bike still out there from 09 till present, keep it, youll deeply regret it if you sell it

I did that with my first bike and learned my lesson 7 years ago haha that was definitely not the issue! As the head mechanic explained, water pump. Oil was within the sight glass limits...thanks for watching Devin 🤘🏾 #FastLaneGang 🏁

I feel your pain, need a 700 dollar radiator for my bike from a rock chip, so unjust 😂
That's an expensive radiator, even if that's the total repair cost. I would take the rad to a rad repair shop, you'd save a ton.
@@captainamerica9353 Fixed it 4 months ago, drained coolant below leak line, cleaned area, pinched damaged vein with needled nose pliers but not so much as to totally close the flow to damaged vein so that coolant could still flow through the back part of that vein, put a little dab of 2 part bodyshop structural adhesive on it. Hammered 1000+ miles since, some at extreme heats, working good, no leaks, bike still running at normal operating temperature

I own thesame model everything on yours except the toce exhaust,I installed akrapovic on mine. Even the yellow lights as well but sadly I had to sell it because i noticed alot of issues when i put 15k on the dash. I got the R1M and its amazing
