Murder of deaf and mute man Eamonn McDevitt by the British Army in Strabane, 1971

Eamonn McDevitt was just 28-years-old when he was shot dead during a riot in the Head of the Town on August 19 1971.
A follow up police investigation found that Mr McDevitt had been targeted because soldiers believed he was waving a pistol in the air. That sequence of events has long been discredited yet remains the official record of what happened.
