I don't know how many people don't take into account, or don't recognize that Genyodectes was the first official dinosaur to be discovered in Argentina, just beginning of the 20th century.

Great video on a really obscure dinosaur. I especially liked how you included the synapomorphies between Ceratosaurus and Genyodectes.
I was also surprised when Mattel revealed their Genyodectes figure. And while I'm not a huge fan of it, I appreciate that they made it look distinct from Ceratosaurus without making it look like a completely unrelated dinosaur.

I liked the combination of history and dinosaur facts. All the best.

At least thank Mattel for bringing a lesser known Ceratosaur into the light, Rex.

I thought it was just an extremely CHONK ceratosaurus you can’t imagine my disappointment

Ceratosaurids are not the largest Theropods, and have weaker arms, but they are strongly built for their size. They got stocky legs, thickened spines, large heads, robust jaws and long fang-like teeth, giving them brutish strength and a powerful stabbing bite. I like to imagine they hunted like sabretooths, ambushing ornithopods in short bursts of sprinting speed. They may have clamped down on the prey, stabbing their mouth-blades deep through the hide and muscle, killing it through shock and punctured organs. Anyway, awesome part three despite a lack of info on the animal!
I would love for you to cover some other sabretoothed animals like the Machairodonts (Sabre-toothed Cats), Gorgonopsians (Sabre-toothed Proto-mammals), the Nimravids/Barbourofelids (False Sabre-tooths), the Thylacosmilids ("Marsupial" Sabre-tooth), or the Oxyaenids (Sabre-tooth "Hyenas").

i love ceratosaurs and like that you included some of the lesser known members, i think you should talk about fasolasuchus, the largest non dinosaur land predator, also did you hear about saurophaganax possiblly reaching 8 tons in weight and it being a basal member of carcharodontosauridae

    • @raptorrex3954

You'll be happy to know I have Fasolasuchus on my list of species to cover. Also yes I did hear those updates to Saurophaganax, annoyingly it came out not long after I did my own video of Saurophaganax so now that video is mostly incorrect....

@raptorrex3954 I can't imagine the frustration of paleontology content. Having to update videos or entire series because a paper just happened to drop the second after you post. Love your breakdowns of lesser known prehistoric animals please keep the videos coming

It might not be as big as a TRex,but this would be even more terrifying because of its size to face because it would be able to get into more places to hunt you.

That's assuming you could spot the T rex before it spots you. T rex has some of the best senses in the animal kingdom. They also had special padding on their feet, making them deceptively silent despite their massive size and weight. Perfect for a nocturnal ambush hunter.
