People need to realize that some people have genetically gifted big glutes which they use to market themselves. Big glutes do not indicate quality workouts or information. Excellent video. I like how you gave the donkey kick burn workout 1/10. Most TH-cam home workouts are exactly like that, filled with some easy, high rep, grandma workouts that give you the burn.
Coaching through an entire workout is key to helping individuals grow and understand what they are doing, how to do it correctly and why. I just can’t get around all there “trainers” who don’t say a single word. I can’t trust them 😂😂
Loved this video! Could you please explain "just because it's hurting doesn't mean it's working"? I hear it all the time and I totally believe it, but I don't really understand WHY that is. Like, why does it burn so much if it "doesn't do anything"? I don't understand how it works.
Absolutely! So a burning sensation in an area simply means the muscle is out of energy (or ATP). This can happen from performing the muscle’s action or just using the muscle as a stabilizer. But the only way to actually BUILD muscle is to perform the muscle’s action. Hope that makes more sense!
I recently watched one of Krissy Cela's videos - helped me massively with RDL's. She gave the tip about imagining your hips are attached to a resistance band and you're being pulled backwards, I now feel the stretch in my hamstrings with each rep. I do like the way she explains things, even how to pick weights up safely.
I'm actually quite surprised you rated Sami's soo high! I don't know why, maybe I was just biased by the all 'that girl' vibe but pleasently surprised I got it wrong! Great content as always xx
Hey Justina, I enjoy this series and had a suggestion! Could you do a video on trying TH-camr “fat loss” workouts? Jaime Fok did something similar and I think it would be a good opportunity for you to discuss how the title is used somewhat loosely and that a variety of workouts can be used to achieve fat loss.
Loved this! You should do this with Barre workouts. I've heard some of your opinions on Barre, and I'd love to see you try some of those workouts on TH-cam.❤️
I love these kinds of videos!! The Whitney Simmons video was one of the first glutes-building workouts that I remember seeing when I first started strength training!! That video and many others definitely had me thinking I had to speed through a LOT of exercises in a day in order to grow muscles... What a relief to learn that it's actually more beneficial to do less exercises well!! 😅
Same! I really liked her workouts but I was like killing myself at the gym bc I thought I needed to do cardio on the stairmaster + a million different exercises with heavy weights. Kudos to whitney for being able to do that but I just did not have 2 hours and endless energy to spend at the gym
Another great video! Such great take aways. I would love to see your review Kira Stokes and her app. She trains a few celebrity’s but I’d love your take on her training philosophy. Thanks!
Hi Justina! Catching up on some of your older videos... I've got a question. I have a bum knee, and squats and lunges really bother it. A few of the "knee friendly" leg day workouts I have tried from various youtubers have a lot of donkey kicks and fire hydrants (many of these are also glute workouts which I don't care as much about). I've just kind of kept doing them because I don't really know what else to do, but do you recommend anything that strengthens better? Currently I'm a home workout girl but will get back to the gym when my kids go back to school. Thanks 😊
Hey! So I always recommend getting to the root of the knee issue rather than just ignoring it. In the meantime, have you tried box squats? That way you can still work the squatting pattern but you're limiting the range of motion to a place you currently have strength.
@@JustinaErcole I have not tried a box squat, I'll give that a try, thank you! As for my knee, I have arthritis from a 20-year old tear of my ACL. It's inoperable because that tear was the 2nd time I tore it (I was 17 at that second tear and 13 when I first tore it, gah), and it just didn't make sense to fix it again since I was done with competitive sports. I have recently gotten a new knee brace so I *could* technically do regular squats and lunges and my knee would be supported, but they just really make my knee ache.
@@kaitlanlinnea Got it! Instead of donkey kicks and fire hydrants, I'd try some single leg bridges (on the floor and elevated variations) as well as single leg hip thrusts. You'll still get the unilateral work you'd see in lunges, but you'll also get way more bang for your buck than the kickbacks and hydrants. I hope that helps!
@@JustinaErcole Well, just as I started to put all of your amazing advice to work: more strength training, programming more effectively, etc etc, my dog runs into me and tears the miniscus in that knee and I need surgery. Womp womp.
If you are going to do more "I tried TH-camr workouts" videos, it would be great if you could try some of Vera LaRo workouts. I found her channel a couple of days ago, he has around 50 000 subscribers, she does not clickbait her videos, and her workouts do look well thought-out to me although I have not tried them yet. I would love to hear your professional opinion on her. Somehow, just by having a quick glance , I think she has a potential of becoming one of the best workout creators along Caroline Girvan and Sydney Cummings.
Hi Justina, super random question but do you think we can substitute glute bridges for hip thrusts if we don't have a comfortable enough bench/chair to hip thrust? Like do they give similar results for building your glutes? Cause I always end up feeling hip thrusts more in my quads and never as much on my glutes :/
Hi Justina! Love this video! I noticed that you're using adjustable dumbbells in this video. Do you recommend them? ( I've been thinking of investing in some weights, but I'm not sure whether to go with standard or adjustable.). Thank you!!!
I love them because they take up way less space and give me a lot of options, but they can definitely be pretty bulky. Still worth it in my opinion though :)
I used to be obsessed with Whitney Simmons but when I got her app it was too much volume i was insanely sore every day. I now do the team plans by Abby Pollock and I prefer it way more.
Would loveee it if you could try out Sami Clarke's Form platform and let us know your thoughts! I've been a member for awhile now, and I often find myself scratching my head at some of her programming, and wondering if the movements are actually working the muscle she says it's working. Especially her lower body and upper body. The video you did was probably one of her best. Her platform as a whole is different than what's on TH-cam.
Geat video Justina! I recently came across someone who's workouts I think that you might enjoy. Her channel name is CDornerFitness. She does a lot of workouts live on TH-cam and keeps them all up so it's like you're doing a group class even if you can't make it when it's live. Really the only thing I don't like about the workouts is that they can be pretty long.
I have a question I don’t get it so let’s say I try this workout I like it and it’s good should I do it each time I have glute day?? or this is just a home workout
I’m sorry i’m just really confused I go to the gym and when glute day comes I don’t know what to do should I do one of these workouts and stick with it?
I am taking your advice about working on working my glutes after my shins have been healing up and mainly just doing walking. Last week I tried a lower body workout that was entirely on the floor, but I overestimated the weight I used on my donkey kicks and hurt my lower back briefly. What lower body moves should I focus on as it is like I'm completely starting over and font want to re hurt my shins

@@mariahgeiger-williams9230 Hey Mariah! I totally understand what you mean. I've noticed that a lot of her older videos have that messaging in the title. Absolutely! Essentially if you're looking to effectively work a muscle, you need to actually perform the function of it. You can grow muscle using zero resistance to a certain point. But eventually you’ll need weight to continue to grow since your muscle fibers will adapt to the stress.
