Nice video, However, in calculating power why haven't you considered the load of the two drum pulleys, I believe they greatly influence the motion of the belt?
Sir this is a very useful and simple step to find out the power of belt conveyor . Is this step is applicable for powered roller conveyor also??? Please also clear one question which is asked earlier by a person in the comment_ Why force reduce when considered co efficient of friction.??? Please let them clear it.
Thank you for your video and it was very useful for me. My humble request to you to make a video to find the required input and output gear ratio for the conveyors and also provide the formula for the same above.
Dear Haha, We supply Motorized Pulleys which are custom-made for our customers, which means we supply whatever gear ratio is required to provide the belt speed desired by the customer. Mike
I would add a safety factor of 1.6 or 0,32 hp round up to 1/2 hp...but why did you not add the friction factor. The belt contacting a slider plate is additional friction is it not?
Great video! Thanks for share the information! Mr. Gawinski, I have a question: For a Power&Free Conveyor System, the Chain-Pull analysis follows the same calculation? Or do you have a video about Chain-Pull?
Our free downloadable program includes average conveyor belt weights, but the most accurate source of belt weight is the belt manufacturer. They give accurate belt weights for all models they make
Sir we have a 5 tones capacity fine coal bin there we have only bin weight & the discharging of the material through screw. And in bin discharge a valve that is open at 3.8 tons & close at 3.56 tons. We want to calculated the TPH through DCS.
Dear Mr. Kumar, Our expertise is in driving belt conveyors. We suggest you contact a screw conveyor manufacturer for assistance with that technology. Do you have a specific need? Best regards, Mike
Dear Mohamed, Thanks for writing. Please provide your contact information (name, company, location, email address) and we will put you in touch with an appropriate Rulmeca representative. Best regards, Mike
The answer to your question depends on the belt speed and the frictional coefficient. We know that 0.5 HP = 16,500 ft-lbs/min. With f = 0.5 and belt speed = 50 ft/min, it can handle (16,500/50)x 2 = 660 lbs. With f = 0.3 and belt speed = 50 ft/min, it can handle (16,500/50) x 3.33 = 1,099 lbs. With f = 0.5 and belt speed at 100 ft/min, it can handle (16,500/100)x 2 = 330 lbs. Do you understand the relationship between weight, belt speed, and frictional coefficient now?

I was planning a metric version this weekend. As soon as I post it I will let you know. I realize most people in the world use kg, N, and m/s. I should have the metric version posted by the end of this week.
Thank you professor.
I dont get why few peoples here.

Hi Sir, Why you have neglected the gravity in the weight calculations?

Really helpful!!! Thank you so much sir..!!
Good video and I appreciate that you kept it simple.
Thank you for this amazing video. Sir how can we know the weight of conveyor belts?
Our free downloadable program includes average conveyor belt weights, but the most accurate source of belt weight is the belt manufacturer. They give accurate belt weights for all models they make
Thank you
how to get the weight of the belt per ft, for 450 mm belt width. thanks
divide your belt total weight(1kg =9.81N)by the active length
you will get the weight load distribution. make sure to convert your unit to Meters
why is it total weight is reduced to 140 from 180 due to friction, instead of increased load due to additional load caused by friction....????
Correct question.
very useful video.highly recommended
Thanks, Sir.
Thanks a lot. Very clear infomation
Sir please guide how to find TPH only in bin load. ??
I do not understand your question. Please define "bin load".

how does one know the friction coefficient?
precise estimates of frictional coefficients may be obtained from belt suppliers and slider bed manufacturers
i want to know the winch pulling load calculation
We will need more information to help you with that calculation. Our expertise is with bulk belt conveyor drives
How much weight can a 1/2 hp motor do?

For a long time i was searched this type video
But luckly i was also calculated power for same design
and i confirme that i was right
