You can try and justify it all you want. If someone is a decent person with a conscience that they listen to they don't get tempted. There's no rules that say I shouldn't cheat on a partner but is that the right thing to do? There's no rules to say I should pick up an old person who has fallen over, but is that the right thing to do? Their gaslighting and BS doesn't get them off the hook.
