+ninjaydes | always love it when I find comments like this that have totted up all the deaths, enemies killed etc. It'll be really interesting to see the numbers by the end.
+ninjaydes Hahaha I totally missed that! First I thought you were talking about the moment she thought there was a secret exit at the Rambi level, but then I was able to hear her "temporary rage quit" at the beginning of the next level because of the enemy not respawning. And half her "fricks" came from last episode then? That's hilarious! XD Thank you for satisfying my curiosity! Also, I think you're amazing for keeping track of all these stats! The best thing about watching last episode was really paying attention to THAT FUCKING AWESOME SOUNDTRACK! *_* I could listen for hours to that orchestral forest!
- A couple episodes ago in his Pikmin 3 LP, Chugga noted how some people are bothered by the number 9 in games; - Masae talks about how having 199 Banana Coins bothers her. Help, I see this ship everywhere. It can't be healthy.
Masae, I just wanted to say that you're one of my absolute favorite let's players. I'm always laughing about something in your videos and that always makes my day better. Keep up the good work!
One thing I do miss about the previous Donkey Kong Country Returns is that when you collected puzzle pieces, at the end of the level the icon would fill in the pieces in order of their appearance in the level. That way you would get a good idea of the location of the remaining puzzle pieces in relation to how far in the level they were, for those who didn't use Squawks all the time.
Sawmill Thrill is such an awesome level concept. One of my favourites in this game. For some reason I remember the end of Crumble Cavern a lot, maybe I just replayed that section often. I can't wait to see how Masae's going to react to 2-B though...
I love hearing your reactions to all these levels, and how much you've been drawn in by the game's atmosphere. That enthusiasm really helps make both your DKC LPs a lot of fun to watch.
That is clearly Diddy's adopted brother Carty Kong, Masae! He's very shy, which is why he's one of the lesser known members of the Kong Family. It saddens him when people forget that he's family too.I know I'm behind, but I am really enjoying these videos! keep up the good work!
Dear Masae, You are amazing. The amount of effort and time you put into your videos is astounding. You pick me up on some days when I have to drag myself out of bed, and being subscribed to you is like being in a club that only a few people know about, yet secretly we all realize that we're ten times cooler than the clubs with thousands of people in them, if that made any sense. Thank you for doing this as much as you do. It's a fun, happy escape from the torture of middle school. Question time! 1. What do you think about the art style of this game? 2. Do you watch cartoons?
Your reaction to the mine cart figurine being part of the Kong Family was priceless! I thought it was really weird that they put it there of all places.
For that cave barrel you tried to find a use for: go to 11:02 and look in the lower left. I'm pretty sure Mine Kong is listen with the family because you "control" it like an animal buddy. Rambi will probably be there too eventually.
You're 100% right on the ending in 9 thing. I hate when i'm sitting at 99% of a level when playing MMO's! Also your sounds of protest when you die in mine cart levels make me chuckle because I remember making similar sounds whenever i died on mine cart levels in the original donkey kong country!
your frustration on that minecart level reminds me of my frustrations from the original donkey kong games minecart levels. Also those stages were extremely precise which made them more difficult.
In case you didn't know, Masae, Cranky does bonus damage to helmet enemies if he jumps on them with his cane, and just does more damage in general with his special jump (I think). So he does have some uses that aren't as obvious as the other two! :)
I think it's safe to say that this game want to test your platforming skills.....and boy is it emphasizing on that. Hope you can get through this game Masae. Keep it going.
+Taslimah Sutton did he ever retire? He's been working on a lot of stuff lately, he worked on an indie game a couple of years ago, he did the tropical freeze soundtrack, now he's working on Yooka-Laylee and there's rumours that he's working on something else for Nintendo.
+Taslimah Sutton I think he took a break because I saw somewhere that he was asked to do the soundtrack for returns, but he was too busy dealing with things that had to do with leaving Rare, so he said no, but I'm glad he's back!
Protip : when a barrel launches you upwards (like the ones where you collect the columns of bananas in Crumble Cavern), you can move left and right whilst in the air. Just make sure you land back into the barrel. :P
Cranky is good for Time Attack if you're going for the absolute fastest times possible. When I played Time Attack, I didn't go for the fastest times possible--I just wanted to get all the shiny gold medals (tougher than the regular gold medals, and the game doesn't tell you what times you need to get them). I used Dixie more often than I used Cranky.
Cranky is a great speedrun rider because unlike Diddy and Dixie, his ability doesn't slow you down in the least if you're roll-jumping. With the others, the loss in speed is not too noticeable in regular play, but when you're hunting for medals, it's _jarring._
This isn't the first time that Nintendo has put two secret areas in a row. Some examples are the secret stages of Yoshi's Island (GBA version) and New Super Mario Brothers World 3-B and 3-C.
Masae...funky sells some "shields" in his plane, they are like extra hearts for the minecart/rocket levels, buy them as soon you can, this game LOOOVES rocket levels (with amazing music)
If only Zelda Boss Battles were as epic as that sawmill level. Having link jump from platform to platform and SLASH! Down goes a chunk of the bosses health.
Wait, didn't Chugga say something about the frustrations of getting 99 in video-games very recently in his Pikmin 3 LP. Coincidence? I think not i think not.
Nine is my favorite number. I like the way it looks and sounds. Maybe it's due to not being an OCD completionist, I dunno...🤔 The Crumbling Cavern stage looks gorgeous. The mushrooms looked beautiful.
1:36 Reason you got hurt, the bottom side was spiked. Surprised a Banananela didn't point this out. And question: did you record the sound for Chibisae?
Maybe the cart was created from a past Kong's ashes or something. Morbid, I know, but it's the only thing I can think of. If anyone else has something better, I'd like to hear it.
Masae, There is a MMO that just went free to play and its Guild Wars 2. It has 5 playable races and you can play as any class. I'm not sure if you heard of the mmo before or not. Anyways I thought that would be something you would like or not.
I swear this game has a thing for falling platforms. It only gets worst as the game goes on. Also we totally need fan art now of the DK Crew with a minecart just randomly thrown in there.
+Cameron Lands (cl252718) Nope, it's not. It's just so happen that the first stages I've been tackling for the past few videos have been particularly short, so I have to choose between an 8-9 minute video, or tackle one more stage and get a 19-23 minute video. I did say if the first stage ended up running short, then we'd tackle a second stage. :)
+MasaeAnela that's true you did say that didn't you well thanks for responding to me and keep up the great work with your channel. Love hearing your voice as I can relax after a long day
Mine Cart is an honorary member of the Kong family because s/he has been in every Donkey Kong Country game.

+ninjaydes When did she rage quit? I've been watching the videos, but I don't remember that.
IcerFreakyNana Episode 8. That's also where half of her "fricks" thus far come from.

It's not
@@cobaltordinaire5219 I know, it was in jest due to the coincidence. Also a somewhat old comment to reply to now.
@@BeanBeanKingdom I watch old stuff cause there's nothing else to do
@@cobaltordinaire5219 Nothing wrong with watching Masae's old LPs, this was a really fun one.

You're welcome! :)

Did you see ninjaydes's comment
you said it 😊
That sawmill level looked amazing! The rain looked beautiful and the music was great!

Sawmill Thrill is such an awesome level concept. One of my favourites in this game.

Yes

I'm pretty sure Mine Kong is listen with the family because you "control" it like an animal buddy. Rambi will probably be there too eventually.
I like how Cranky leaves throught the foreground when you switch Kongs since he can't hover or use a jetpack like the other two Kongs.
It's so funny how Masae gets distracted by the visuals
Sawmill Thrill is a thrilling stage. I like that you ride on a piece of wood like a boat than it turns into a mine kart.
You're 100% right on the ending in 9 thing. I hate when i'm sitting at 99% of a level when playing MMO's! Also your sounds of protest when you die in mine cart levels make me chuckle because I remember making similar sounds whenever i died on mine cart levels in the original donkey kong country!
the mine cart is in the kong family because it is a series staple and not associated with any other category
Something just dawned on me, Candy is pretty much gone forever because of auto-saving.
Masae your my favorite lets player and also I LOVE YOUR LAUGH :)
It's impressive how your upload schedule is in sync with my bedtime. Woah.
Joost Moopseh
You can sleep when you're dead. Or done with college.
your frustration on that minecart level reminds me of my frustrations from the original donkey kong games minecart levels. Also those stages were extremely precise which made them more difficult.
loved the music in these stages

Does the Painguin Tucks figurine remind anyone else of Rico from the Madagascar series?
0:50 I just noticed all those chopped trees! Nice foreshadowing for the level.
Gaaah. I love Sawmill Thrill sooo much. It is difficult, though.
Masae you are my favorite youtuber love you're stuff and keep that toch screen smoken!
Fun fact: The music that plays in Crumble Cavern is a remix of Cave Dweller Concert from Donkey Kong Country.
There's a lot of songs from the original DK series. Didn't David Wise come out of retirement to do the music for this one?
+Taslimah Sutton did he ever retire? He's been working on a lot of stuff lately, he worked on an indie game a couple of years ago, he did the tropical freeze soundtrack, now he's working on Yooka-Laylee and there's rumours that he's working on something else for Nintendo.

+asims615 I am too. When I played the game and heard "In a Snowbound Land" and other beautiful DK songs, I was having an eargasm.
I love this lp
I love the trumpet in the map screen, I just think its funny.
Welcome, to Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, where MasaeAnela crashes into EVERYTHING. LOL
Masae, I don't want to spoil anything for you, but I think you might find the next main level really beautiful
22:23 it's clearly the Kong Family kart, the only use it to get bannana ice cream on sundays
don't be surprised if Sqwaks and Rambi show up in the "kong family" collection
Protip : when a barrel launches you upwards (like the ones where you collect the columns of bananas in Crumble Cavern), you can move left and right whilst in the air. Just make sure you land back into the barrel. :P
Holy crap, this game's music is amazing. Like on-par with sonic music amazing.
Cranky is good for Time Attack if you're going for the absolute fastest times possible. I think the minecart is in the "Kong Family" category because only the Kongs ride them.
+Peter “PikaCOOL” Brown that and probably because there's no other category to put them in.
Not true...the kremlins did too and the moles did in DKCR
+nublustheaerovian Plot twist: They're also Kongs! :o
+Kübel350 WE'RE ALL KONGS
I would not be surprised if the Mine Cart would be given a southern accent if voiced.
Ah, Minecart Kong, my favourite character from back in the day.
the return of Masaerageanela.
This is one of the better Minecart stages.
This isn't the first time that Nintendo has put two secret areas in a row. Some examples are the secret stages of Yoshi's Island (GBA version) and New Super Mario Brothers World 3-B and 3-C.
masae sounds so cute when she's all frustrated >w
That secret exit in sawmill thrill was a pain in the ass to get to
Also that n is hard
And unfair that not only do you get the cards… I haven't found any nearby and outside North America is it only 3 in a pack… and I live in Norway…
Masae...funky sells some "shields" in his plane, they are like extra hearts for the minecart/rocket levels, buy them as soon you can, this game LOOOVES rocket levels (with amazing music)

The Crumbling Cavern stage looks gorgeous. The mushrooms looked beautiful.
Donkey Kong expands his Dong when Masae starts playing his game.
22:13 His name is Kartson Kong and we love him
Wait the Mine Cart should be named Emile Kong because he always gets you "off track"
Meet the newest addition to the Kong Family
Kart Kong
Looks like masae transitioned from a mine cart run to a flume run and back to a mine cart run again
I feel like the world is over. The mine cart has a face.
masae the next secret level is really fun and maybe difficult
of course the mine cart is apart of the Kong family do you know not the legend of Kart Kong
Masae if you watch the donkeykong cartoon you will get why the mine cart is apart of the kong family
8:50 "Diddy check out this ollie"
i see your sore about the saw you saw
I like how both of us are playing a donkey kong game. I'm currently doing dk64
+Silver Man And I'm currently doing DKCR.
I would defiantly do an lp on the game. It's easier than banjo kazooie
Msasae seems to really hate Cranky and his cane drops and mad hops
SAWMILL THRILL IS SO FREAKING COOL
okay, so you didn't have too much trouble on sawmill thrill. rodent ruckus, on the other hand...
Painguin, now that sounds the kind of pun Chugga would have made. XD
Masae, you derped up again!
Yes! Next time, French Gear Getaway!
i love how dixies hair is stronger than diddys jetpack
He ran out of crystal coconuts to fuel it with.
1:36 Reason you got hurt, the bottom side was spiked. Surprised a Banananela didn't point this out. And question: did you record the sound for Chibisae?
Maybe the cart was created from a past Kong's ashes or something. Morbid, I know, but it's the only thing I can think of. If anyone else has something better, I'd like to hear it.
that or the kongs were the first ones to build it and were so proud of their work they made the minecart an honorary family member
the check-poink has a name, fyihe's professor chops
8:50 The role of DK here will be played by Christian Bale.
as of this game checkpoink has an official name
Professor Chops
Death counts :
DK : 20,2
Diddy : 3,1
Dixie : 6
Cranky : 1
Mine Cart : 18,9
Banana coins spent : 120
Love your vids Masae! Hey, you haven't posted any mail on Facebook in a while...
+Masaeanela Miney Kong is obviously DK's Mother.

Yeah. I understand very well what MasaeAnela meant by "stressful"...
Am I the only one who wants to see MasaeAnela play through DK64?
The Cart's name is clearly Mine Kong Cart aka. 'My Kong Cart, and Not Your Kong Cart, Because It's Mine, Not Yours MXVIIVX'
The real name of this minecart is Handbray Kong
I swear this game has a thing for falling platforms. It only gets worst as the game goes on. Also we totally need fan art now of the DK Crew with a minecart just randomly thrown in there.
MASAE LOVE YA GIRL KEEP DOIN WHAT UR DOIN
Clearly, the cart's name is Mineky Kong.
So the 15 minute deadline for videos is dead now isn't Masae lol
+Cameron Lands (cl252718) Nope, it's not. It's just so happen that the first stages I've been tackling for the past few videos have been particularly short, so I have to choose between an 8-9 minute video, or tackle one more stage and get a 19-23 minute video. +MasaeAnela that's true you did say that didn't you well thanks for responding to me and keep up the great work with your channel. Love hearing your voice as I can relax after a long day
10:18 Mushroom Masae, activate
I remember having so much trouble getting the N, I wasted about 20 lives on it.
+Gavin McLaurin I believe it, that N is awful!
+MasaeAnela Since it was underwater, does that make that N a nautical N?
+MasaeAnela I shall name that Mine Cart "Benny"...You've seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit, right?
+Xavior TheLycan (The Black Hood) Yeah, of course
me to good thing its my favorite stage in the game so i have basically memorised it
Maybe the Mine Cart is their mother...?
Yeesh, Masae, respect your elders!
When you said Sawmill I thought of TF2
10.15ish you sound like chugga
flashbacks to Dan and Phil
"Painguin Tucks".
It's funny because it sounds like "tux", you see.
And all the Kongs' names end with a y, so obviously it's pronounced Me-nay Kong.
You sure it's not Mine-ky Kong?
I was hoping for a minecart butt...
Mine Kon? :3
Minecart Kong invented by RARE :P
