The Clubman's are so much easier to work on than Minis with the standard front end - the better access makes a huge difference. A hugely enjoyable video again - that engine sounds sweet as a nut, keep em coming! 😃👍👍
My late Mother owned one of these, 'T' reg, in two-tone yellow and white and I think hers was an 1100. Handled just like a go cart on rubber suspension. I had a Bedford HA van that was changed from 40bhp to 60bhp with the addition of a Viva HC engine from a car that my mate rolled. Got a library book about cylinder heads and got a spare and learned how to grind out the ports, match gaskets and hand grind valves. Happy days! Much more fun that an OBDII port! Smashing video, Al. Brings back so many fun memories.
This guy is mint been watching him for last 12 months I’ve been a motor mechanic 42 years as every position in road haulage and road transport I like he’s approach and skill’s similar to mine top man good on him .
Brings back memories being about 18 putting 1100 engine's in to 850 or fitting inch and hall su carbs to them to make them go faster. Great video makes a change having something decent to watch on a Sunday morning. please keep them coming Al
I do love this shape mini had one had to sell it the same day as always laughing driving it Bought for 30 quid and sold for 50 quid a few hours later My wooly hat been refitted to keep my solar panel dry
I don't want to think about that too much if I had a barn or land just to park up my old cars instead of selling them cheap if I had bought a fast ford instead of a fast volvo I could get my money back and a profit
Thank you so much for this video. As a kid from age 14 i used to work minis and try and repair them. Mostly i got it wrong, i had a library haynes manual that i got fined for never returning and my grandads old tools. I did learn by mistake all the time, but owning fixing and driving them remains one of my favourite car memories. Not been in or worked on a mini since rolling my last one some 20 years ago now. I miss them, so brilliant, funny and thoughtful content as yours is wonderful. Thank you, of all the channels i subscribe to. Yours is the one i click for straight away.
Excellent video Al, will it start? Erm oh look no engine. Ah just happen to a spare one here. And apart from minor issues it went in easy and ran brilliantly!
Hello I'm thenewstoryteller I have a mini which I'm to drive from the shack in Wedge Avenue it's a 96 model and it's automatic which I call it a manualatic it's brought from new South Wales Australia. There's a film of it in a car show. Hello from Tasmania.
Great video. Didn’t see you connect the Speedo cable. Easiest way is just before dropping the engine unit fully into position. Otherwise can be a very frustrating task. I’ve been there. Please carry on,great entertainment. 🎉
Great video Al. I'm not a mini man but did enjoy a blast around the streets of North London in one many years ago. Great fun car and I'd happily have one for high days etc.
24:00 the British Leyland saviour makes a old BL gem run like a champ from outside the car This old stager with a bit of top fettling ran like the horse on the grill which let’s face it was looking nackered at the start . Top Job Al your killing TH-cam working on old shitters making them great again 🇬🇧🥷🏿
This is a trip down memory lane, some interesting mods on that mini such as the lcb (long centre branch manifold), looks like it's got later 12 inch wheels, the first carb you fitted looked like 1,3/4 or 2" HS4 (seen as an alternative to twin carbs) as opposed to iirc the HIF fitted normally, engine sounds pretty good and should be fine on the lcb and standard carb (always seemed to me the lcb let the engine rev more readily and sounded a bit more "rorty" as well).
Loved this one Al😅 My first car was an 850 mini. Still remember the reg BFX897B ! Spent seemingly more time under the bonnet than driving it. I learned a lot, and a basic set of AF combination spanners and a slot head screwdriver and a set of mole grips together with my mates ballpein hammer got most things done. Swapped the 850 for an MG 1100 engine, went very quickly to 60, but died of piston failure soon after😟Happy days
Brilliant video Al. My first car was a Mini (1275GT Clubman). It bought back lots of memories of my early attempts at learning how to maintain my own car - including all the amateur first timer mistakes I made in the process. I did laugh when you threw away the Haynes "book of fairy tales" at the beginning of the video - did you realise the firing order was in there??? 🤣Looking forward to the next video - roll on Sunday!
In the early 90s, a local lady wanted rid of a Clubman estate which had been in her barn for a decade or two and was in great condition with burgundy interior and wooden exterior trim. She wanted £500 for it but I only had £400 😢
Great video love seeing these old school motors brought back to life, would be nice to see you team up with bearded explorer or imstokze and save some of their amazing finds, until next time. 👌
Great video Al love the old minis and the little girl has life 👍, look forward to the next one on her , great content as always and looking forward to a bit of tractorage be great to see the drots working at your mates and also seeing a bit of driving of the zetor, keep the great content coming mate
Fair play Al that was bloody brilliant mate. I can not wait for next Sundays installment. I've got a lovely Jag XJC V12 that's been sat a few years, don't suppose you fancy getting that going for many dollars???
A lad had a brown one in my town. It had a 1750 ?? Maxi engine and twin SU carbs ,sounded awsome, might actually been webbers on it ,long time ago lol . Great channel Al 👍
Absolutely superb vid, Al! 100% love what you’re doing, how you’re doing it, and how you’re delivering it (Winkerage had me in bits!) Really lookin’ forward to the next instalment Keep ‘em comin’ JCHK
This channel is becoming a firm favourite.
Hugely varied content with a shed load of knowledge and love the relaxed presenting style.👍
❤ amazing, the old angrybird lives again. Can't thank you enough chap.🎉

Fellow diesel mechanic here love the Chanel keep up the good work 👍
at first i thought it was gonna transplant mini engine into the plastic pig , but this was another great video, cheers al - jamie
My wife and myself have had over 30 minis between us starting from the mid 80s love the video Al so many memories flooding back
Love the mini content. The clubman’s are such a cool looking thing.

Great memories ❤
Fantastic! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more original “will it run “ video..entertaining as always 👍👍👍
Thanks for taking me back to memories of my Mum's Mini Clubman.
This guy is mint been watching him for last 12 months I’ve been a motor mechanic 42 years as every position in road haulage and road transport I like he’s approach and skill’s similar to mine top man good on him .
Well done Sir, sounds sweet considering the engine hasn't been running for a long time.
That’s a beauty of a recovery truck
Throws Haynes manual away then struggles with firing order. Perfect bloke stuff, keep it up.

Those were the days you could buy running cars next to nothing 😊 the regrets i have mk1 and mk2 escort, minis they would be worth a fortune today 😱

I can remember fixing all these things when I was an apprentice
Excellent video Al, will it start? Erm oh look no engine. Ah just happen to a spare one here. And apart from minor issues it went in easy and ran brilliantly!
Love old bits of kit being bought back to life and given another chance! Nice one!. 🙂
Absolutely joyous. Also the fondly remembered sound of every Winter morning on a street near you 50 years ago.
Pop the spark plugs in the oven for 5 mins on really cold days.
I was screaming at you about them leads at one point al will just crank the death out of it thought the starter was going through the roof 😂 brilliant
Loving it! My mum used to have a red clubman estate.
Really fantastic video. Takes me back to the time when I replaced the gearbox on my 1964 MG 1100 saloon. Well done and thank you.
I'm already in love with this little mini

HIF carb is from 1990 on, hs2 or HS4 for this era mini from standard
