That bokeh is so smooth. These lenses are such a good deal. I liked your video and subscribed to your channel!
Thanks Darren! I really appreciate it.
I liked the two segments where you shot the mannequin heads at every aperture. It was very clear what this lens would offer over the 18-55 kit zoom at its f/4 maximum aperture for selective focus.
Thanks Albert. My willing models :D I got tired waiting for people so thought I'd use them
Great review
Thanks!
Took your advice and got the Ttartisans 50mm f1.2 for my fuji system and I love it! Currently have the Ttartisans 50mm f1.5 for my M3 on the way!
Don't blame me mate :D I'm also jealous about your M3 now.
Thank you! I got mines a few weeks ago😎👍
How you getting on with it?
@@DamianBrown Great so far. I'm not a professional video/photo-grapher. I did use it in a small task "on the street" reporting project and it works great👌
I bought TTartisan 50mm F1.2 over this 7Art mkII just for clicks aperture ring, but I tired of CA on wider aperture (under f2.8)..
from your pics I didn't notice much CA especially on mannequin photos (that's really brilliant idea for sample shoot, btw)..
My question is, is there really minimum CA on a high contrast situation? I'm looking to buy it if it so
Thanks anyway
Sorry this is so late but thanks. It's good to hear somebody appreciates the mannequin shots, I found it nice and simple for testing the lens for a few minutes when I couldn't go out to shoot. I don't have the lens to hand now but I think the CA was fine yes!
Does it make sense to choose this over the first version? Is there much difference in image quality between them?
I think for the price yes, but not as an upgrade route. Not enough in it.
I love cheap Chinese manual focus glass but this will have to wait, sadly, as I just ordered the TTartisans 35mm F1.4 for a ridiculously cheap $50... good review, cheers Damian :-)
That 35mm is supposed to be an absolute bargain!
that lens or brightin star 50mm mark ii.
thanks for informative video 🌹😘
I haven't tried the brightin star lens sorry!!
Is this lens good for TH-cam videos (talking shots)
Not for me. But if you don't mind manual focus and the focal length then sure
How does it compare to the 50mm 0.95 in your opinion?
This is a better performer overall
This lens looks like it would be interesting to play with but since I already have the Fuji 56 1.2, I don't think it is something I would purchase.
Ye I wouldn't say it's necessarily one for owners of the xf56 but some like to shoot with manual lenses as well so that's cool.
@@DamianBrown I like manual lenses. I have the Samyang 12mm (watched your video before I bought it) and some vintage lenses (old Takumar lenses). I just typically don't purchase any that are really similar like a 55mm and 56mm if that makes sense.
Looks interesting indeed! I opted for the TTartisans f1.2 and the 7Artisans 60mm 2.8 macro so this is just too close to those to justify it, but the bokeh rendering looks great from your samples. One thing that would be nice to see in reviews of lenses of this nature are how bokeh balls from light sources look. If they are soft and puffy vs sharp onion rings / ugly etc. Just a suggestion! Great review regardless :)
Actually I planned to use some fairy lights to mimic that for the indoor shots and completely forgot. I think there's only one outdoor shot in the samples with some form of artificial light source in the background :D
De-clicked aperture is a deal breaker for me. I buy lenses for photography not videos and clicked aperture is a must.
A lot of us feel the same. It didn't ruin my experience as much with this one as it did on the macro at least.
Nice review. Some of these simple mf lenses are great. How it compares TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 ?tt has more bokeh
I think so, for me the TT is overall better IQ wise but this is a decent lens as it is.
It is auto focus?
no
I like what they are trying to do but personally I would take a vintage 50mm f1.4 for less than one of these any day.
Vintage lenses can cost a lot more and they have their own issues
@@miam1074 Not Takumars, Zuikos or Canon FDs. Generally all less than £100 for a mint copy. Fantastic build quality and no more prone to issues than new lenses.
Fair play. Though most decent vintage lenses aren't cheaper and take up more space BUT I love adapting lenses so I won't argue with you.
Испытал неиллюзорный эффект зловещей долины посреди видоса
The best thing about these lenses of 7 artisans is they show how overpriced Fujifilm lenses are.
Indeed
Too heavy of a lens in my opinion.
Fair enough :D
