    detailed comparison video between Sirui Nightwalker, 7Artisan Vison and Meike Cine T2.2 is very much needed. These are probably the best budget options for crop sensor cameras, not only Canon, but Fujifilm and other. I feel like the 7Artisans give the most unique look, Meike is the cleanest and sharpest and Sirui is like a safe option. But I would really like to see them side by side. Great video.

    Just a heads up for R7 owners. The R7 IBIS doesn't work properly with manual lenses, even though it should.

      Really good video BTW, covered so much detail in a short space of time.

      Also focus assist on my R7 doesn’t work with these lenses unless I’m doing something wrong but I think it’s just a communication issue with manual lenses and the RF mount

    Very dreamy affect on video which is nice. Thanks James. The price for the build and performance is a nice surprise.😮

      The 55mm is very dreamy wide open! I actually like the softness at 1.2.

    How do you like the C70? It's been in the back of my head for quite awhile, but for what I do I think it would just be a nice toy. I would get the r5c because then I have the option to at least use it for the 45mp along with my r6II, but.......battery is horrible. I'm hoping that canon announces the r5 II this year and that might turn into my backup/partner to my r6II.

    • @JamesReader
      @JamesReader  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the C70 - ease of use and image quality is just the best I've used. I considered the R5C but have the same concerns about battery life as you. With the C70 there are genuinely very little drawbacks. Built in ND, great screen, battery lasts forever, tons of dynamic range etc. It's definitely overkill for what I use it for and I often feel that I can't justify owning it, but its just so good. Definitely give it a try, but I'm also looking forward to with the R5 II brings. I really want to see CLOG 2 in more cameras.

    For documentary/vlog content work, would you recommend the Canon R5 or the R6 Mark 2? I also like to take pictures? Any other recommendations

      If I was going to vlog, I would not use either of those cameras. I would use the DJI pocket three with the wireless mic and a wired lav. I have a canon R five C that I use for professional and TH-cam. And it is pretty amazing. But if I was you I would wait a month or two. You might be surprised when Canon drops the

    Why would using them on a full frame make the footage 'unusable'? Isn't the adjustment done in camera just cropping in on the same lens? Why not just do that in post? This is new to me, so please be gentle. lol

    • @JamesReader
      @JamesReader  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You’ll get a lot better quality using the lenses in APSC crop mode, because you would get a useable full 4k image. If you shoot on full frame mode your image will have a crazy vignette that you’ll have to crop out, sacrificing a lot of resolution. I suppose if your camera is 8k it won’t be as bad or if you’re on a 1080p timeline. There’s no wrong way really but i would personally stick to APSC crop in camera. Hope that helps.

    I'm happy Siriu supported your channel, but there are some weird omissions in this video. There's no mention that they're manual focus lenses. It might be obvious to most of us, but it still needs to be said. Taking seven minutes to say they're APS-C lenses is not great, it merited a mention as soon as the C70 was brought up. As to the image quality, there is a quite strong chromatic aberration in all lenses that went unmentioned; there's some weird color cast on the chart shots, and they are not sharp for modern standards. You keep mentioning it's good for the price, but then you compare it with the Canon RF 50mm 1.2 which is light years away in image quality and has autofocus.
    With all that said, I actually like the image the Siriu produces, especially for film where I don't want perfect sharpness. All the defects give them a unique look that I would rather have in my work. The clinical look of most Canon RF lenses can be great for photography, but not necessarily for video.
    If, like me, you prefer a more unique look, there are plenty of lenses with EF mount, or that you can adapt for RF that would give good results and compete in this range. Maybe not with the cine-friendly body, which is a huge advantage for Siriu.
    It must be hard to grow a channel and have sponsors, but keep your analysis straight, and the rest will come. For clarity, I'm not saying the omissions were done on purpose; it's easy to overlook some details when we get excited about new products.
    And Siriu, we need a 16mm in this series!...

    • @JamesReader
      @JamesReader  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching Luis and thank you for the feedback. All valid criticisms. In my use I didn’t spot any issues with chromatic aberrations and the colour cast on the charts was not the lenses, they were just shot in mixed ambient light. In the shots where I compare field of view of the three lenses I saw no issues with colour cast. Certainly no intentional omissions but in general I feel there are many other TH-camrs who can produce much more thorough analysis of the technical side of lens performance, so I leave that to them and try to approach these kinds of reviews in my own way which is generally just to get out and put them in use. My main takeaway is that they are great for the price and sorely needed on the RF Mount. Again - really appreciate the feedback and I’ll work on covering the technical stuff better next time! Agreed about needing something wider than 24mm. I would even settle for 18mm!

    • @PizzlesTechTime
      @PizzlesTechTime 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, some people get into the technical details in their reviews. Some people cover other parts of the lenses. I totally understand you would like to get that tested but You Already know. I'm not a professional. Cinematographer But I would always shy away from doing reviews on such products. I am no longer Going to shy away but if I don't cover something it Is not the end of the world. I don't think Every tech reviewer can remember every little detail about the products that they cover.

    Question, wen you put it all the way up to t1.2 on a full frame camera like the r5, r6, r8 etc, and enable movie cropping, is it equivalent to f1.2 or will it stil be more like an f1.8-2

    • @JamesReader

    Do the lenses communicate with the body, so we can use the Focus Assist "mini-game"? It really stinks that we've only been able to use this feature on Adapted EF (outside of MF on RF lenses).

    Thank you for your video, please tell me, are you talking about autofocus at this time of the video th-cam.com/video/KY0Ylzy0WLg/w-d-xo.html or did I misunderstand you ? I don't have it, but according to reviews, it's a very interesting lens. I really want to have it for my C70, is it very interesting with autofocus ? Thanks for your attention
