Whoever arranged this is a freaking genius.
We all know putting Taeyeon and Changmin together will make a song pleasing to the ear no matter what. But adding Winter, giving her soothing adlibs, not forcing her to compete with the two regarding hitting high notes, makes this a masterpiece.
They sounded so amazing, what a masterpiece.
The song does sound amazing, but im kind of sad they nerfed Winter, she was more than capable to hit those notes with them. Still incredible tho!!!
@@ritadourado6729 it’s about balance, though, and her soothing vocals are a nice contrast to Taeyeon and Changmin being quite loud next to her. I think having all 3 of them doing that at once would have been more grating than impressive.

@@gabiburner Very true, Winter's part showcases her voice's smooth and soft side. I didn't notice until Nico pointed it out but it's so true-the song as a whole definitely benefits from the contrast. Winter's performance makes the story feel realistic and vulnerable, while Taeyeon and Changmin's parts give power and a more corporeal legitimacy to the words being sung. The song would be missing something if it was *just* a virtuosity showcase.
It's better to serve the music well (and allow idols to indulge their various abilities) than to always give everyone something sensational. Besides, that would be tiring, no? And I think it's more respectful to Winter to appreciate that she can lend beauty to a song in multiple ways, even if some might see it as a back seat role.
Overall I agree this arrangement is astounding. My favorite track on the album.

She also did well in the intro and prechorus, those verses are continuous and requires incredible breathing technique. You could hear the pauses and breaths from winter and changmin but taeyeon's is flawless. ❤

Whoever arranged this ...I love you bc they dont make songs like this anymore. This is why I love SM vocalists so much, they can SING. Winter's timbre is so smooth, its so easy on the ears. Taeyeon's voice has aged wonderfully so it sounds full and mature. I love Max because his agility and power fit so well, esp when he and Taeyeon harmonize.
