There is a much quicker way to do this. Draw the shape you want to multiply and 'group' it (the ying shape in the video for instance). Draw a circle with an outline only (the size of the circle should be the size of the hole you want at centre of the design) , place the circle directly below the shape, so the shape is centred above the circle. Select the grouped shape, press 'R' on your keyboard for rotate (must be keyboard stroke). Press 'alt' on keyboard, and click on the centre of the circle with 'alt' depressed (if you have your guides on this should show up when you hover your mouse over the centre of the circle). The rotate dialogue box appears. Type in 360/14 (14 is the number of shape multiplies, so can be any number you want) - select copy from the dialogue box, then ok to close the dialogue box. Press 'Cmd D' to multiply the shape and you will see the shape rotate around the circle as many times as you press cmd D. You can then delete the circle at the centre of your design. You will have the same effect as shown in the video in about 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes!
Experimenting with the size of the circle will give you different effects. You can also just type in '30 degrees' (as in the video) instead of 360/14 as suggested here (or whatever number you choose) and this will give more space between the shapes in the rotate. Have fun!

That's a really cool way to create a logo but it would be nice if you could make a video doing the same stuff but put some dialog to it and also show and tell what shortcuts you used to make the design. I'd really like to write this as notes so I can refer to it later when I want to make it again for any future projects I might need or want to do later on down the road.

For filling a shap with circles there's a script!
+Edward Roussou : there is no script! all the circle is manualmtechnique, I has been release beginners tutorial to do this logo, so it's more slow because step by step with easy to follow.
