made it! so good! and huh....capers are the best! I had to use apple cider vinegar and didn't have garlic on hand so I used garlic salt for the flavor. thank you for sharing your joy with us!
A "Huh" Factor, also known as a "je ne sais quoi" element. For those who don't know, the literal translation is "I don't know what". So I think it's quite fitting haha
my italian family does peperonata with no tomatoes!! and no garlic actually-- but i add it because it is good. all this to say: you're not doing it wrong according to everyone (except my dad). though he would strongly approve of the thin slices for the veg and giving it more time than you think it needs. been obsessed with capers lately, so i'm excited to try this with those added-- it'll be a fun twist on a comfort food from my childhood. (we had it for brunch on saturday morning with bread and over easy eggs)
Are you changing/refreshing the water you store your basil (and other spices in)? I'm worried (anxiety very present) I'm telling you something you already know, but storing your stemmed spices in fresh (and kept refreshed) water is the best way to keep things fresh.😊 Change the water every 2 days and give med level sunlight works for my spices ♥️ I have been loving your content and am so ready for what you cook up next! ❤ Casting my vote to skip calorie count in videos!
Yes! These just went a little long and the color correction on the footage made the water look darker than it was! But thank you for worrying about me!
What is the difference between pepperonata and fajitas? Lmao, obviously I know they are very different but on paper, it’s peppers and onions plus protein ❤😂❤😂
Peperonata does not involve protein. She chose to add fish here to make it a full meal but peperonata in itself is a side dish consisting of peppers, onions and tomatoes.
I feel like the "huh" factor is what bay leaf provides- people should never disrespect her because she ads so much and is so under appreciated
never a stain, spot or splatter on those white tees of yours, justine. that's BOLD!
Honestly your videos are one of the few things keeping me going right now,, they're just so comforting and enjoyable
Omg it’s not even funny how much I look forward to your videos and your content has inspired me so much to start cooking and using my creativity ❤❤❤❤

I JUST said the same thing about those skinny caper bottles yesterday. Drives me nuts.
Thank you thank you thank you for your recipes, these videos, and your generous/knowledgeable/comforting energy xx
💯 on things needing more time. Patience is a really underrated cooking skill

The vinegar, capers, olive oil and choices of herbs are the big difference! Plus, Italians tend to use tomato in this dish!

Interesting recipes, but could use a lot less "I'm like", "It's like", "and like", "he's like", "be like" in the dialogue. 🙄
